I like to keep it simple so that I'm adding as little extra calories as possible. I always start with a chocolate protein powder. I like Dymatize iso 100 only 106 calories, 1 banana, frozen strawberries are 1 tbl of natural peanut butter. Yummy!

    Here's my favorite:

1/3 of a frozen banana (I do this to keep carbohydrates low)
8 oz Blue Diamond - Almond Breeze Unsweetened Almond Milk
8 oz Coffee (Starbucks dark roast brewed, chilled, stored in the fridge. Decaf)
2 Scoops of Gnc Pro Performance Amp - Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60
    4 Ice cubes

Sometimes I'll do 16oz of coffee instead of the coffee / almond milk blend.

    Yum.

I'ved never added coffee. Thanks! it sounds delicious

Just discovered this at lunch time. Orange Kool-aide mix in a vanilla protein shake is NOT a good idea.

Mine is 1 c. unsweetened almond milk (35 cal), 1/2 fruit (usually berries, 30 cal), Whey vanilla (140), few leaves of spinach.
That keeps it to about 200 calories, if I've exercised or plan to I add peanut butter.

Wow, I'm loving the shakes you guys are drinking! Your ideas will be keeping me busy. I'm totally getting vanilla when I'm done with my chocolate. Thanks a ton for the ideas, keep 'em coming if you have anymore!

PS I just got a Blender Bottle that I saw on sale at the store. Kind of a compulsive buy, but it's good for when I'm shakin' on the go!

Today was my first day adding a cup of decaf coffee to my standard morning shake - I had never heard of it before seeing on this thread.

    It. Was. AWESOME!!!!

    Here's my usual morning shake:
8 oz. unsweetened vanilla almond milk
2 stalks of kale with the stem stripped off
about 3/4 of a frozen banana
a handful (around 1/2 C) of frozen strawberries.
One scoop of your favorite whey powder.

Optional: 1-2 tbs unsweetened Hershey's Dark Cocoa Powder.

Blend. Add ice cubes to make 24 oz total volume.

Totals about 340 kcal without the cocoa powder, about 380 with. Fair warnings: (a) you need a blender with power, as this shake is pretty thick. I use a Waring Pro bar blender, and it works fine. (b) the color is just about exactly that of baby poop, but it's tasty, keeps me full until lunchtime, and has plenty of protein and fiber.

Do you need a special blender to put in things like kale? I've never tried that - I have a good KitchenAid blender, but not a Vitamix or anything. Do you think my blender would handle something like kale?

    Simple:
    1 Scoop strawberry-banana whey protein
    1 cup OJ

Tastes great, but a little rum would make it perfect! :drinker:

    1 TB Chocolate Shakeology
    1/2 c almond milk
    1/2 c water
    1/2 c frozen cherries
1 TB SF FF Cheesecake Pudding Mix

^^Love Shakeology!!! I dub this recipe Chocolate Cherry Cheesecake...who wouldn't want that!

I mix it up every day. However, I do have my basic mix.

    Basic Mix
1 scoop Vegan Tropical Strawberry Shakeology
2 scoops Beachbody Vanilla Whey Protein Powder
1 c. So Delicious Unsweetened Vanilla Almond +Protein milk
    1 c. water

I add any one of the following. For fruit, I may do half and half.
    1 c. frozen fresh strawberries
    1 c. fresh pineapple
    1 whole small banana
    1 T. cashew butter <--my FAVE
    1 T. almond butter
    1 large peach
    1 c. frozen cherries
1 c. raspberries, or other fresh fruit

These can be added to the above...sort of like condiments.

    1/4 t. nutmeg

Mix and match and never get bored with breakfast again!

Nobody told me I can have smoothies everyday???? everybody just told me how many calories it contains and how unhealthy it is for my diet. I did not believe it but did not consume it either. Lol. I feel like a moron right now. anyways from tomorrow smoothies it is and i will post a recipe too later.

The recipe I posted has about 270 calories, and I have one for breakfast on most days. I don't know who's telling you that it's unhealthy; like any other meal, it's all about the ingredients you choose.

Unhealthy smoothies are those you might purchase from a chain smoothie place, like SmoothieKing. "Smoothies" can be very unhealthy because they tend to have a lot of sugar and additives. Most of the recipes posted here are protein shakes, not smoothies. Simply put, if you use protein powder in your mix, you have a protein shake. Otherwise, it is a smoothie.

Either way, making them yourself is the healthy option. Do not purchase premixed "smoothies" or protein shakes or those mixed at the over-priced specialty stores. Make them yourself and you control what goes into them. The recipes are endless! The less processed the items used the better. Go for organic and natural.

I have been on the Food Lover's Fat Loss System and this is one of the smoothies I have daily. I don't like ANY artificial sweetners, so my recipe doesn't have any, but the orignial recipe calls for 2 packets of whatever artificial sweetner you like.

Mocha's Kisses Smoothie- 226 Calories- The perfect morning snack

Swiss Miss - No Sugar Added Hot Cocoa, 0.5 envelope
Coffee - Brewed from grounds, 1 cup (8 fl oz)
Body Fortress - (C) Super Advanced Whey Protein - Vanilla Corrected*, 33 g (1 Scoop)
Spring Valley - Ground Flaxseed, 1 tablespoons
    Mccormick - Ground Cinnamon, 0.5 tsp. (2.3g)
    Mccormick's - Pure Vanilla Extract, 0.5 tsp. (5mL)

Sucralose (Splenda) is in Swiss Miss no sugar added and Body Fortress Super Advanced Whey protein

So if you are actually avoiding Artificial Sweeteners...this has some
