  • ITA!!!! I knew when Shay fell below the line what they would do....I'd gotten my TV Guide earlier for next week and both Amanda and Rebecca were shown with their makeovers. I was very disappointed in Amanda...so selfish!!! They have all become such game players and now the older folks have control, Amanda and Rebecca will be gone very soon! Can't stand Rudy or Liz, guess that only leaves Danny to root for. What happened to the contestants who supported eachother on previous seasons.....like the year with the 2 brothers on Black Team....and the one cried all the time, but threw himself on his sword for his brother. Was it the year Alli won? Go back to changing lives and stop the drama! It's getting very unpleasant. I'll watch SURVIVOR if I want back stabbing!

Why is it selfish for Amanda to want to be there too? She is not responsible for Shay, they are not sisters (like the black team last year), why shouldn't she want to stay and win? Frankly, I'm a little tired of Shay's sense of entitlement. The rules are the same for everyone. Just because you weigh more does not mean you get a pass. If you don't want to be voted off.... don't fall below the yellow line.

I don't feel like Amanda was selfish - she too has her own issues or she wouldn't be there in the first place. We must remember they are changing their lives WHILE playing the game...sometimes they have to play to stay alive. Can't say I wouldn't have pleaded for myself either.

Now Rudy - flat out went against his word - that wasn't fair

yeah, I see where you're coming from...but in my 'bubble', i'd like to think that the contestants genuinely care about each other, and that the show is about changing lives...who needs to be there more? not amanda. i hate the game play...which is more important? the $$$ or the weight? amanda can accomplish the weight by herself at home by now. i still think shay needed to stay. anyway...glad to see that shay seems to be doing well on her own. really wish that b*$#&y old liz would have been the one to go!!!

:-) woo get out the fireproof clothing...the flames are being thrown!!!! :-)
most weeks 17 pounds wouldn't be below the yellow...Amanda has never lost more than 5-6 in a week. It was just a freak week with huge numbers by smaller people! :noway:

I agree! Not so much with the sense of entitlement aspect, but with the rest of it. It's a competition...these people finally got off their *kitten* and are doing something about it. Allowing yourself to go home is not fighting for yourself. That's like allowing yourself to quit halfway through.

Actually that was the only season I stopped watching and it was because of their nastiness.
I also took a break for 2 weeks this year because of Tracy.
The world is depressing enough without meanness on TV......I like fairytales!

I didn't think Amanda was being selfish

Why go on the show wanting to go home instead of someone else. Its a game lol

It sucks Shay went home, but she was getting on my nerves a little bit. I wish it was Liz though.

Just finished watching. . .what a heartbreaker.

The thing that got me the most was the conversation Daniel had with his friend (can't remember the name (from last season). When his friend said "I don't feel unhealthy. . ." Wow. :noway:

I never have had weight related health issues. I've always been more active than any of my overweight friends, & suffered no real troubles from my weight, so I know what he means. Sometimes you just don't notice the differences when they're gradual.
    :frown:
Now that I'm more active I see the difference, but I never felt especially bad.

Just watched the show tonight after recording it. I would've like to see Shay at the finale and what her final weight is. I agree Amanda could have to done it at home better than Shay. I believe Rudy voted for Shay after what she said to him during the circus challenge. Her words came back to bite her. Rudy didn't keep his word to Shay and that was wrong.

Wow. Good episode. I feel for Shay BUT like others have said Amanda did the right thing not sacrificing herself. She is there for HER not for Shay. I'm glad she fought to stay. I hated it when Coach left after doing exactly that for Tracey and so did Abby. Shay says she has six trainers that have volunteered their services to her. So she has help at home. I was so sad to see Daniel's friend too. He hasn't lost a pound since last season it seems to me. Doesn't care either....

Um, Rudy didn't go back on his word at all. He said if it were him and Shay left they wouldn't go through each others hoops. Shay got all pissy when it was Rudy, Danny and Shay. She was mad they were ganging up on her. What a melt down. If it were the other four on the winning end I'm sure they would have been all happy getting Rudy. Rudy is there for Rudy and he got rid of the biggest threat to him. Remember it is a game too.

Boy everyone sure lost big numbers. I wonder how many hours they put in at the gym last week?

Everybody lost big numbers except Rudy....
Hmmmmm can you say drink lots of water before weigh in? only 8 lbs.

We'll see next week when he does double digits again.

oh I just found this conversation on the BL. I love the show.

Yeah, I was disappointed that they voted Shay off the show, but when I saw her on Leno, I felt better. She is doing alright!

The thing I really hate about this show is the blatant product placement ads for food products or something. HATE that!

rtmama, I hate the product placement also. It is almost like they are doing a commercial right there in the middle of everything. Kind of amusing but really come on, isn't that what commercial breaks are for!
  • rtmama
    rtmama Posts: 403 Member
They ARE (not almost) doing a commercial right in the middle of the show. They get paid for those ads! A lot of "actors" or tv personalities get paid big bucks for stuff like that.

it's just that it's so over the top, in your face, blatant that it doesn't look natural at all. Bob is not a good actor. LOL

It's hard to trust someone when they do ads like that. You don't know if they are choosing products because they are paying them the most $ or if they really believe in the product.

ETA: ha! I googled and found a Jillian interview from 2008 about product placement:

    http://www.dietsinreview.com/diet_column/04/jillian-michaels-dishes-on-biggest-loser-product-placement-and-that-fight/

Off to go look for some more. Maybe that is why they always look so nervous and stiff, they really don't want to be doing these ads!!!!

After reading that article, I guess I can see how it makes sense for companies to want to have them do the cheesy product placement commericals. With almost everyone having DVR's, no one watches commercials anymore, so if they can slip one in there, they're going to.

I think, on the whole, contestants have shown more care for each other than in other seasons. However, I think Liz has a rotten attitude and am disappointed as being older, you would think she had learned to tolerate people's differences more. Unfortunately, the people who really cared for others sacrificed themselves. Contestants make the show and their attitudes add alot of emotion--both good and bad--which makes it interesting to watch. You either love them or hate them. I think the show is an encouragement and when my person gets voted out, I am disappointed, but I do have to remember it is a game and the winner walks away with a lot of money. Those who go home continue to receive a lot of support and can come back at the final and win that part and still walk away with some $$'s.

I have a PVR and for 2 years or so now, I've never watched a "real" commercial that's on the biggest loser.
Those commercials are for anything. Could be an automobiles, jeans, some vacation spots, or "other products". We all know what can be put into "other products"

At least when Bob and Jillian are advtertising those products, they are products that can be used to help lose weight. Different ideas that some people might not be aware about.

They almost seem like they have a 2 min window, and let's throw this product in.
I think they should just try and blend the products more naturally, let our sub conscious catch it, instead of "in your face"

Yeah, but it's more fun to laugh at the product placement. It's just so corny & awkwardly placed. How can you not giggle when they do it?

    3 words:

    Rudy's a hoser. :grumble:

I liked him at first, but it seems the last few weeks he's turned into a two-faced son of a gun.

Rebecca went on Leno and announced she's dating Daniel. She said that she fell in love with her best friend. Awww, gives me goosebumps. That's 2 hookups this season.

First it was Antoine/Alexandra now Rebecca/Daniel. Good for them the 2 couples!
