How many calories are you eating?

Is this thread for people wanting to starve themselves or something? o_o
I eat around 1500.
Oh and I'm 5'6 ?0 -
I am set to lose 1/2 lb a week (only 10 more lbs to go) and it has me at 1690. Just started yesterday though with higher cals. Kind of scary! I was set to 1440. I am 5'6 (lost an inch somewhere )0

Did eating <1,000 calories a day suddenly become a good thing?
And I try to get 1,200-1,300.
1,400-1,500 on days I workout.0 -
5'4" , 1800 - 2000 calories a day0

I'm 5'6" female - my dr. advised me to eat 1200 per day to lose 8 pounds - so far it is working - very easy to do!0
-
I'm 5'9 and eat about 1400 unless I exercise a lot that day, then depending on how many calories ive burned i would eat more.0
-
I'm 5'8 an only eating 1,000 and I have to push to do that.
I always wonder how people have to push/force themselves to eat more than 1200 cals. How did you gain weight in the first place? Most likely over-eating...0 -
500 aday. Lunch and dinner. It's actually big portions just completely unprocessed, only healthy food. I eat either grilled chicken, steak or fish, one large veggie and one fruit for each meal. Lost 15 pounds in four weeks!
Good luck keeping that up. 1,000 sounded bad enough but then I saw this... Please encourage yourself to eat more - preferably 1,200 minimum, but any more than 500 is a start. Even if it's just more of the same stuff, considering none of it looks bad.0 -
Im 6'3, eat around 2500 to lose weight and 3000 to maintain
Ditto to height, deficit calories and maintenance calories.0 -
1333/day + exercise. 5'8"
Since I started eating more calories than the MFP recommended amounts, the losses have been steady.0 -
I'm 5'5 and I eat about 1500 calories a day even though MFP only tells me to eat 1200 (says sheepishly);(0

That's nothing to be sheepish about, as long as it's not junk. 1,200 is the MINIMUM amount of calories, therefore 1,500 is a healthy intake.0 -
I'm 5'2, I used to eat 1200 with or without exercise but now I'm doing insanity I absolutely cannot do that - it makes me ravenous. I eat about 1500.0

Oookay.. hopefully, we have some people trying to educate others here because the initial part of this thread was scary. I didn't read most of the pages, but 800? 1000? cals?
I'm 5'6.5" (I say 5'6" for height/weight ratio purposes) and my BMR is 1371, TDEE is between 1800-2000, so I tend to eat somewhere around 1600-1800. I currently weigh 150 with a GW of 126.

I'm 5'8 and my starting weight is 236. My goal (this round, anyway) is to lose 55 lbs to reach 180. Based on that and all the other stuff, my daily calorie goal is 1,570. I try my hardest to stay within that and usually eat around 1,400 - 1,600. Depending what I eat, sometimes I feel hungry throughout the day but I try to pick filling foods that are also healthy (like hard-boiled eggs) so I'm not starving. I also try to exercise for 30 minutes each day, even if it's just riding my stationary bike... any bit helps! So far, it's worked out well and I lost two pounds my first week.0

i'm 6'1 i eat 1600-1800 cals a day....can't live on less...i just have to move my butt away from the computer...put my running shoes and move around really fast five days a week...0

I agree. Eating under 1200 cals a day is counter productive for an adult I don't care how little you are. The body needs at least that much do perform its background tasks without any exercise included. It will cause it to go into starvation mode and release lots of cortisol to store fat for the future survival of itself. We were designed this way. I personally eat 2000 cals right now but when I reach my weight loss goals I will bump that up to 2500 to 3000 a day depending on my workouts for that particular day.0

I'm 5'2, and my base is 1470 (my approximate BMR). I eat exercise calories, so that puts me at anywhere from 1800 to 2100-ish depending on my exercise for the day. I've been walk/jogging in the mornings in addition to doing a boot camp DVD lately, so I have been burning off between 650 and 800 a day, so I've had a lot of peanut butter this week.
Ditto your numbers except I'm only 4'110 -
I've started zig-zagging my calories, so it ranges between 1300 and 1800. I sometimes go up to 2200, but that's maybe once a month. I'm 5'5'' by the way.0

5'3" - 1200 or less0

I eat between 2000-2200. Trying to back off from the 2500 I was bulking on. My net is typically 2000. Right now I'm just focusing on either maintaining or a REALLY slow loss. I'm 5'8 and 133 pounds. Thinking once summer is over the bulk will be back on.0

It wasn't that long ago that there was someone here asking why her hair was falling out in clumps. Turns out, she had achieved a huge weight loss in a short amount of time, by essentially starving herself. Something like 600 cals/day. What you're doing is unhealthy and unsustainable in the long run.0
