How much do you pay for a gym membership?

LA FItness $45 for me AND husband. $20 for BOTH kids per month, and I get to use free weights LOL. Body weight is fine for a little resistance, but I need real weights to do real lifting with access to pool and lots of classes. By paying for it, the cheapskate in me makes sure I USE it so that I'm not wasting money.0

Whichever gym you choose, make sure to check out the cancellation policy first. LA Fitness will charge you $200 bucks if you try and cancel, I'm pretty sure it's a similar situation at Bally's. You should look into your local YMCA. The prices tend so look a little higher at first, but usually the child care is included or much cheaper, and you get a discount for a family membership.0

$20 month retro fitness0

Planet Fitness is $10/month usually with no initiation fee no penilty for quitting but has no child care...I think children over 14 can join too open 24/5 @ one location only....to have black card membership(use any PF) it is like $290

We pay $75 per month for a family membership at the YMCA. Includes swimming lessons, and all other programming. Our neighborhood Y was rebuilt a couple of years ago and has all new weights and machines.0

I pay almost 80 a month for myself and one kid, 2.00 drop in for each additional child. But really, the way i look at it is
1) i could spend that money on much worse things
2) I wont need diabetes medication some day which would cost a lot more than that - even in canada
3) What is your health and happiness worth??
That is how i justify.0 -
Right now I go to planet fitness and they're supposed to draft 21.39 out of my card each month for the black card. It is still less than the previous gym I went to that was not open as often, did not have as many options. Plus I can take someone with me. Win-win.0

$30/month at LA Fitness! Worth every penny. When I signed up they had a special going so I didn't have to pay anything down.0

This is my second time with LA Fitness. The first time when I cancelled all I had to do was turn in a form. No money.0 -
I have 24 Hour fitness All Club Sport access for $49/year.0

$34/month @ SportsFit (local Maryland gym). Child care available. Swim hours for kids and adults. It includes some classes. Some free training sessions. Courts. I've been a member for a year and I plan to stay for at least another year.0

I go to a local gym because I like the classes and Planet Fitness is too far to drive every day, although if I change jobs I might join there. I pay $48/month for myself.0

That's what I have as well, but way back when I had to pay 3 years in advance. But, as long as I maintain my membership, it stays $49 a year.0 -
$0.00 because I don't need one. I've walked, jogged, biked, hiked, swam, mowed, pulled weeds and cleaned my house to lose 41lbs since January.0

the city where I live has a gym. It's a great facility and costs $245/yr for my husband and myself. There is childcare available but I have no idea what it costs0
-
$8 for myself, every month, at the local YMCA.0

I think my husband and I pay about $130/month for Lifetime Family Fitness. Really nice club and never have to wait for any of the equipment. Indoor and outdoor pools with water aerobics classes almost every day (but not at times I can go). I think my husband has gone twice since we joined and I go as often as I can. Used to pay for my daughter and grandkids to go and I could drop grandkids off at kids club and workout. I can't afford that right now and I'd also need to pay for my son's family too, since I watch his son also.0

I belong to a local club, not a chain and I get a family membership for $71 per month. That is for a family of 4. I used to go to Curves, but like you I have kids and wanted them to be able to go. They can do their thing while I do mine.0

I pay $35 @ 24 super sport!0
-
$19 mo which includes free child care0

my husband and i pay about 90 a month for unlimited clubs/access at 24 hour fitness. they have kid's club for $20 a month for unlimited use or $4 for each time. my son is in daycare full time so he doesn't go to kids club that often but it's worth it for the weekends, he and i will both go "work out." i worked out at home for the first 8 months of MFP-ing, found myself struggling with the addition of full-time job. now i go all the time, before work, late at night, whenever i can. it's been absolutely worth every penny. and most of them are month-to-month now so if after a couple months and you don't deem it worth the investment, then you can cancel fairly easily. (not the case for me a few years ago with Bally Fitness, but with the economy, they've relaxed the rules for cancelling due to financial hardships).
my advice -- go for it. your health is worth it. cut corners somewhere else. fitness is worth it.0 -
Live in a small town here and the local gym is only 34 bucks a year....oops it went up two bucks now 36 bucks a year :-)0

I go to a ladies only gym, and I pay annually. I pay about 260 for the year. That includes childcare for the kids. They have a pool, sauna, steam room, hot tub, full weight room, strength machines, and cardio machines.
My gym also has a pay 900 dollars, and renew annually for only 79.00 a year. I think this coming year, I may do that instead of the 260 a year...0 -
WOAH!!! US is so cheap. I'm in Aus, I pay $35 a fortnight and that was a special deal, my previous gym was $90 a month.0

I participate in a wellness program thru my insurance company which charges me $25 a month & I get to go to any gym I want to ~ I currently go to Curves and 24 Hour Fitness for no extra charge. The only reason I do both is 24 Hour Fitness has water aerobics. When I signed up a year ago, there were 65 facilities within 15 miles of my house where I could join, and there is no limit to how many gyms I join. I love it!0

Home= Free! haha. I wasted too much money on Memberships. Gold's Gym, Pure Fitness, Red Mountain Fitness.... I find that I save money by doing my stuff at home. Zumba, Walking, Running, Cleaning. I've been more successful at home then with any membership at a gym. But I do know that Pure Fitness had free daycare as long as you were a member, it was 40/ month.0
