Do you tip a pizza delivery man when..

Yes. The delivery fee goes to the company, not the actual person delivering the pizza.0

Yes. Definitely yes0

having worked in service industry - beyond a shadow of a doubt, but if I specify debit/ credit and they fail to bring the machine then they will get a much smaller tip.0

Always!0

Yes, but as a former food service worker I don't believe they should be tipped. They get minimum wage or more for a really simple job. It isn't like waiting tables where you do hard work and are paid below minimum wage.0

That's only the case in some states. In WA waiters/waitresses are paid minimum wage + tips.0 -
Always, especially since my driver is this guy who moved from Russia (who grew up under communism) and is loving his job so much that he says its the American dream. I love the guy, always so positive with a good laugh and smile on his face.0

probably the delivery person wasnt told to bring a machine. good grief. tip the guy or gal0 -
depending on the company they're working for (they = the driver) they supply the vehicle, they supply the maintenance on that vehicle, they put the gas into it, minimum wage doesn't go far towards getting that pizza to your door. Rare company that supplies the vehicle and fuel, around here at least.
I don't tip for the pick-ups, that's cost of business, they have the money in for the meal to pay overhead.
it's on the receipt that they pick up when they pick up the order
DEBIT / CREDIT required, not my fault they didn't "look" at the order, shall I tip them or shall i send them on their way because I don't deal in cash?0 -
Yup!!!0

I guess you havnt done delivery. I have and it can be hard and scary and dangerous.0 -
yes, but since i am poor, not as much. Pizza places know they are going to deliver, so they should just accept it as a cost of doing business. (build it into the cost of the pizza)0

Always, and call out my friends when I catch them being cheap *kitten* and not tipping.0

With all due respect, if you can afford a pizza, you can afford a decent tip.0 -

Fast food people make minimum wage... In believe drivers do too...
With that said, yes we do... Especially right now when the drivers have to go out of their way because of road construction... It insures that web get speedy delivery and they don't forget something. ;-)0 -
I only eat clean, so I don't order pizza.0

I worked at 2 pizza places before. Drivers generally do not make any hourly wage. I got 10 bucks upfront at one place each shift (plus 1.50 per order) and the other one was similar.
If you are too cheap to tip, don't order out. If you are poor and don't have a car, I understand the first time. If you order out often, then you must not be that poor.
Reminder: A driver never forgets the good tippers, and especially the bad ones.
If I get two orders at once, and the cheapo is much closer to get to. I will rush to the good tipper first, then take my sweet *kitten* time to the bad tipper.0 -
I tip everyone.0
-
Always - why wouldn't you?? If I'm too lazy to get off my butt and cook and some guy/gal is willing to drive to my house and give me food it is the least I can do!!0
-
$5 minimum tip at our house0

i say yes. delivery drivers risk getting robbed, and a driver was recently killed on a delivery recently in my city. also, the driver is often responsible for using his or her own car to drive, and the delivery fee goes to the company.0
-
Abso-freaking-lutely! My husband had to do it for a while, and trust me, they work hard for it. It was his car, his gas, his insurance, and let's not forget the serious wear and tear he put on the vehicle. It's pathetic what some people tip. To those that don't tip or pay a nominal amount, stop ordering pizza for delivery and get off your lazy butts and get it yourself.0
-
Yes! In Ga the drivers can make below minimum wage but usually get a portion of the delivery charge. They are using their own cars, they have to pay for gas, they are putting miles on their car and if anything breaks they have to fix it.0
-
I usually ask the driver if he gets that money or a piece of the delivery charge at the end of the night or not. If it's only $1 then i tip the guy what I normally would. If the delivery charge is excessive, I will deduct from the tip. I spent almost 2 years doing food delivery and it is NOT an easy job. Especially in a city. Even worse in tough weather. Most drivers use their own cell phones and their own cars. Tips go towards fuel and upkeep to the car. Constant stopping and starting your car is hell on the engine.0
-
Always. I also always try and make all tips in cash so they don't have to report it.0
-
yes.
And it's conversations like these that make me wish it could be mandatory for every one to have to work in the service industry for at least six months.
*sigh*0 -
I have a friend that works at a pizza place and delivers. When he started working there, he made the same as wait staff plus tips. He now makes really good money because he has been there for 10 years, but the new deliverers aren't as lucky. He has to deliver up to 20 miles away and I have seen receipts where he had to deliver to the middle of nowhere and they left him less than 30 cents.
As a former waitress, I tip minimum of 20% at any restaurant or for any deliveries. If I got to a coffee shop, I always leave at least a dollar in their tip jar. They remember stuff like that and you get much better service.0 -
Hell no. I've paid for my pizza and the delivery, that's all I owe.
But then, I live in Australia and we don't have a tipping culture like the US does.0
