I don't go onto FB much anymore since joining MFP. I get a lot more support here from strangers and we are all working toward similar goals.
  • I ditched my Facebook account about 2 years ago, and haven't missed it yet. Sick of the privacy crap.

Agree with you on the "like" button, for sure!!

I don't actually know any of my MFP friends in person, but there are a number I'd love to meet. FB still works for me a little bit, too though... for my friends from high school/college that I don't see in person any more, that I still want to keep in contact with... it's useful for that. But I do seem to be spending less and less time on FB and more over here... ;-)

They are not there for the same reason.

On FB I get to be myself.

On here I'm an alias. :)

I have both, but I rarely go on my FB page anymore since discovering MFP. I like MFP WAY better and there's less drama!

    No contest.....MFP rocks!
Facebook is where I share photos with the family and friends, and that's it.
I have 3700+ friends and yet MFP is the staple of true support in my life.

There isn't a day that passes where I am not tempted to deactivate FB.

    This word for word.

I like MFP for the support and discussions about health and fitness. But I also enjoy talking about politics and sharing photos and keeping up with real life friends and family. So I like them both for different reasons. I can't get on FB at work, so I hang out here.

But at home, I am on FB a lot more, catching up on what I missed while at work. :smokin:

I still use both for different purposes, however, I love MFP more! I have learned so much from the forums, people's diaries and postings. The support on here doesn't even compare to FB. I can be more open with my feelings on here and I get nothing but positive comments! You just can't beat having a positive team at your side!
  • I love my facebook and all my friends on it.. but MFP totally takes it. I'm on Herr wayyy more than I am on my facebook now, since joining. I do have my supportive people on fb.. but nothing like here. I love MFP!

My Facebook is mostly friend and family. Mostly there to see how my girls are doing.

MFP is mostly my friends that I have never met.

I prefer MFP!! I have way more fun on here than on Facebook. I also like all my friends better on MFP, ha ha. I have more common interests with people on here than with my RL friends.

I treat Facebook differently than MFP. On Facebook I only add people that I truly want to know what's going on in their daily lives. If someone requests me and I don't know them or don't know them well, I have no issue denying them. Facebook is where I air my thoughts and only those closest to me can see it.

When I started on MFP I knew no-one. Friends were just whoever posted something amusing on the board. As I've gotten to know my friends on here, I've become close with them and I care about them. Plus there's been some crossovers.

Basically I'm more selective about who I add on fb and I keep the fitness stuff to MFP.
  • the difference is we all have the same mindset here, the same goal, no haters or doubters on MFP

I am across the country from my family, so use Facebook to keep contact with them and to keep them all posted on the kids. However MFP is where I spend more time 1) cause of common goals/focus, 2) not blocked at work, 3) I don't mind discussing other things besides fitness on my statuses here with those I have on my FL.... it's all good to me :)

I am on each site equally, but for different reasons. MFP is where I prefer to go for encouragement, my friends on FB don't even know I am working out and losing weight. I try to keep my personal life off of there.

I think they serve different purposes in life. :) I say stuff on here that I would not on there.

I find Facebook very helpful to stay in touch with friends that live 100 or more miles away. Friends I've had since my teen years (did not go to the same high school as them). It makes it easier to plan things and get together despite the distance.

Facebook is also an organized way to have the contact information on hand for people I do care about (using the app).

I also suggest Google+. It's full of interesting people, beautiful photographs, and topics that make you stretch your brain. It serves a different purpose than MFP and Facebook.

hahaha. No comparison! I love MFP, all of the positive energy gets me going in the morning. FB is full of trash talkers and friend feuds. There is nothing on FB to motivate me to even log on any more. Plus, when I look at my calories eaten compared to my exercise I get off of the computer chair and get my booty moving :)

Facebook is the spawn of Satan. People use it to bash each other behind the protection of the computer and they are mean and hateful and MFP is so awesome because people are lifting each other up and encouraging each other! I deleted my facebook back in march and I very happy with out it!

I have FB but I'm wondering why? I find this site to be helpful. The people here are friendly. So This site is best for my goal of weight loss. I will delete FB when the time comes. Peace
