You win the lottery and take home 1 million dollars. What's the first three things you do?

For me:
1) Pay off everything
2) Buy a Grand Piano
3) Move somewhere scenic!

    1. Pay off everything
    2. Pay for wedding
    3. Buy and furnish house

Whatever was left would hopefully be enough for the college tuition of my kids.

    Only one million?
    Sadly, that is not enough money to retire on so;
1: Pay off my house. (that leaves me with with about 850K left).

2: Purchase a brand new Full size cargo van and equip it with all kinds of tools. (Now I have about 800K left.

3: start purchasing forclosed and short sale houses and flipping them. (I should be able to do this for about 5 years, building up wealth. (I should be at around 2 Mil in the bank now.

4: Purchase a block of town houses and start renting them.

Now I have recurring revenue with minimal risk and I can now go away and retire with a continual source of income.

    1. Pay off everything.
    2. Buy a small house in the country with a large garden where I can grow my own fruit and veg AND have a lovely play area and tree house for my son
    3. Have a nice family holiday.

Of course, with $1million (which roughly equates to £644600, hubby would still have to work, but I wouldn't - hurrah! We'd also be much better off overall because we wouldn't have any debt and would own our home outright. Although, to be honest, We could do all of the above with far less and be very happy, but it would certainly give us a nice cushion and something to put away for the future! :)

    Pay off bills.

Set some aside in an interest bearing account etc so I can have some return off of it.

Help my brother and his fiancee get back on their feet again, as well as my parents.

Fix up our house and sell it then buy a larger one so we have room for my parents.

    Donate some to a charity(ies)

    Travel.

    1) Buy a new house with my dream kitchen and a nerd cave for the husband
    2) Buy a horse or two, some dogs, and necessary care equipment
    3) Put the rest into savings and live off the interest.

The OP said "you TAKE HOME" $1 million...so I think she meant that you actually "have" that much....
