debnu - I hope the house works out..

You can burn as many calories walking as running or a more intense cardio - it just takes longer - don't say it like that's not a great thing-give yourself credit. When a child is sick it seems to turn everything upside down doesn't it! Mine are older now (17 and 13) so it's getting easier to have ME time....I can just leave them by themselves!

Thanks, I hope it works out, this is the only house we are interested in out of all that is on the market! I should give myself credit. I just wanted to throw in the towel today, Having a sick child is no fun--Hopefully it is a mild virus and not the flu.

Have a great evening and remember only one serving for dinner.

debnu - I hope that things go well with your house! Hang in there! If it's meant ti be, it'll happen!! So sorry your little one is sick, no fun for Mommy either. :flowerforyou:

Today was a great workout at step & tone class - 375 cals burned! Hoping to go back again in the morning.. we'll see if the family cooperates!!

Thank you all for the great ideas on tackling dinner portions! I've really been drinking alot of water & crystal lite today & that has helped a great deal!

I heard that you should drink 8 oz before you workout, then get a big glass of water or tea or something healthy (16 oz) and take a sip between every 2 or 3 bites. This makes you slow down when you eat, and helps fill you up.

    And here's my update:

My mother announced she was divorcing my dad. Unfortunately, I live with her, and my dad is not very welcoming to me right now, so I'm staying with my mom in this little apartment. There is no TV or computer (we just got electricity yesterday), and I've had to log my food on pencil and paper (a lot harder than it sounds, I  MFP, and I can't live without it).
I did up my calories to 1600, because I was binging on 1200, freaking out because I'm stressed and all I could think was "I DON'T HAVE ANY HEALTHY CHOICES AND I AM SUPPOSED TO EAT 1200 A DAY?? OMG OMG OMG I NEED A STRESS BALL!"
I'm hoping that 1600 will leave me with a little wiggle room. I'm perfectly happy if I stay under 1600, but I just couldn't handle KNOWING I had to make 1200.

    Okay, ramble is over.
I'm hoping I can get internet by Monday or Tuesday (depending on when AT&T can get here) and then I won't be so stressed.

All I can say is wow!! I upped my calories too, as I could never maintain at 1200 and found I really would binge a ton just because it seemed futile--when you are always going over.
Good luck with everything. Remember it isn't your fault! You can do this. Look forward to hearing from you on Monday or Tuesday. Best of luck for the weekend.

Yay for 3 day weekends!! Did some exploring outside today which got in some walking  Spending time this weekend organizing and cleaning. Still putting things away after moving a couple of months ago - always seems like there is something more entertaining to do than clean! :blushing:

I wish everyone the best this weekend. Stay on track... weigh in is just around the corner!

I have thought that zumba looked like fun, I have never had the chance to try it though.

Taradise, I agree that there is always something more fun than cleaning. I find myself having to get myself back on track quite frequently.

Well I think that it is official that kid number two is sick. I honestly have not looked at what I have been eating for the last couple of days. Hopefully I don't pay for it at the weigh in. It is rather hard to care when I am worried about my kiddos. Today is going to be interesting, I have to speak in church, both my kids are sick and my husband has to work and doesn't know when he will be back. My day is a little up in the air right now. It will work out. Luckily my mom has offered to come sit with the kids if it comes to that. My MIL is closer but I don't dare ask her as she is a major germaphobe. Have a great day everyone!! :flowerforyou:

I keep seeing posts about cleaning - someone COME CLEAN MY HOUSE!!!! I just don't know when I'll get it done! I've had the kids helping but that's kinda a sweep it under the rug clean if you know what I mean - I need to get down and dirty! In all reality house isn't too bad just starting to think ahead to all the company with the holidays.

    Mornin all

Had a rough weekend all I wanted to do was eat and I don't know why. I am already fighting today not to eat everything around me. I am stuck on a pleateau and I know it is because I have slacked off on my workouts.:ohwell: I will have ot get myself back motivated to get back at it.

Damn salesman broigh in donuts and I couldn't resist I had to have one, now I am trying not to have another:grumble:

chrissy, I will clean your house if you come clean mine. I try to remember that a little bit of work done everyday keeps me on task--emptying and loading the dishwasher, that sort of thing but it is so easy to just let it go once and everything snowballs from there.

I have a love hate relationship with donuts. I can't just eat one. Can you get rid of them? You can always take another one, put it in a bag, lay it on the floor and jump up and down on it until you feel better. Once you do that you won't want to eat it. It is also therapeutic, although people might think you have gone crazy!  Good luck with the self control, you can do it!!

Stay strong smadag1!! Don't let the donuts win!! Get right back on track. It's really hard to stay motivated, especially with working out. I've struggled with that this weekend too but I forced myself to get outside and moving. I felt so much better afterwards!! So much more relaxed.

Cleaning is the worst. I hate it. Seriously considering hiring someone to do the hard stuff

Very proud of myself today. A bunch of friends, my husband and I went out to lunch today to a fantastic Jame Oliver restaurant. I knew the food would be good, but I didn't want to lose control - and to make it worse I was starving! Well I ended up ordering a vegetable pasta with a light sauce. AND I ordered in the "starter" size... which was a perfectly small portion. The waitress asked me if I wanted a side salad or bread... but I declined. Furthermore, all of our friends went out for ice cream afterwards... and what did I have you ask?? A bottle of water and a piece of gum!! Some days you're just in the zone :glasses:

    Stay strong Beautiful Blue!

debnu-I too try to keep up that's what I meant about the kids helping too - it seems to be a bandaid in comparison with the cleaning I always do before the holidays and company - it's like psycho spring cleaning but in the fall!

Smadag-It's all about our choices - don't blame the salesman - if the donuts are to hard to resist, throw them away or move them to where you don't go. I understand - I have the luxury of working at home and not having to look at the foods that are "shared" but you CAN have a donut - go run it off....just don't have one everyday or everyother day - in other words a treat is OK...once in a while! I know that was very redundant but everything in moderation right?!
(except water and exercise that is! )

I hear ya! But coming on here and reading some of the posts, gives me a little extra push!
It's mind over matter. I guess, if you're outta your mind, it doesn't matter.

You just have to believe you can do it. While one doughnut will not kill you....unless it's laced with arsenic....it isn't the end of the world. Just re-focus back on what's important. YOU!!!

    YOU CAN DO IT!!! :flowerforyou:

I only had one donut but my boss offered me lunch from Arby's and for some reason I couldn't say no so now I have to do a longer workout just to burn off lunch and the donut.

Ok back on the wagon and lets see if I can make it through the rest of the day with good decisions

You can do it!!!! Before you eat something you're not sure about - drink 8 oz of water, wait 15 minutes if you still want it then do it - but at least you've not made a rash spur of the moment decision.

I barely do the minimum sometimes, and I guess I give myself permission or I might just go crazy. I think I am sometimes just happy I have been able to vacuum and mop once a week. :blushing:

We may be doing some psycho deep cleaning here soon as I just heard today that the bank may be accepting our offer! I am a little excited, and a little nervous. It has been quite the ride. We still need to see the written acceptance, however, it was the bank negotiator who made the comment so we shall see. We plan on putting our house on the market shortly after getting the acceptance, so I have a bit of work ahead of me.

Good Morning Blues! Did my strength class last night - boy do I feel it today...I am really wondering if I'll be able to run today - we'll see usually I do feel better as the day progresses. My whole body was shaking last night after the class - I did up my weights on the squats and chest but I thought everything else was the same...WOW:sick: Actually - feels good knowing I am pushing myself!

Chrissy--that is awesome, I don't remember the last time I worked myself that hard!

I think it is now official that I am sick, I guess it doesn't matter if you use hand sanitizer if you are constantly being coughed on. I did get my flu shot (through work) a few weeks ago so I guess that would be why my only symptoms are a cough and sore throat. Needless to say I have not been good this week. I think I will allow myself the next few days and hit it all with a vengence Thursday. Hopefully this doesn't last any longer than that!

    Have a great Tuesday! :flowerforyou:

    Mornin yall

Despite my bad eating yeasterday I only went over my cals just a little but didn't get a workout in because we were moving my hubby's uncle in with us. He has fallen on hard times and needs some help. I love the man like he was my own uncle so I am cool with this decision. I will have to adjust my workouts with him being there but that is not a big deal I am glad he is here

    Morning everybody,

Chrissy, that's great. I was going to ask you(was curious) about your squats. I know when I tried squats at home, I put 100lbs on barbell on shoulders, for a week. My running became so much stronger. I unfortunately won't feel safe enough squatting heavier weight by myself at home.

Debnu, Sorry to hear your sick. I never liked the flu shot. I always felt that it made you sick. Many people have said "flu shot gives you the flu". did a google search, they say it doesn't, but it does "weaken" the immune system and then you are able to catch a different strand of "flu".
Lots of liquids, and flush it out.

smadag1, that's great to be able to help out hubby's uncle. Sometimes people just a helping hand in life and that can make a huge difference to someone.

Well I started P90x last week, what an awesome burn... Sigh but the holiday weekend was busy though and didn't get in my workouts and have to go buy another DVD player. The workout room is downstairs, and only DVD player that plays them are in family room.

BL tonight!! Woot Woot!! So excited!! I need some good motivation!!

Chrissy, you've given me the 5K bug - problem is the weather is getting cod here & I'm not up to traveling around the country to find one. Sooo, I guess I'll stick to my treadmill & train for next spring!

Peter, P90X is amazing - from what I hear! You're going to love it!! Keep us updated on your progress & feel free to share any & all the TH wisdom!

Smadag, glad that things worked out with the Uncle & hopefully you all can find a good workout schedule so that you can still get yours in.

    Debnu, feel better!!

Well, I gotta go hit the shower!! 593 calories today between the treadmill & levels 1 & 2 of the 30 day shred!! I was at 148 this morning - that's up 2 since last week... I don't know if I'll be able to pull it off & break even by the morning or not! :grumble: We'll see!

    Kick butt people!!
