I'm 6'0 and my goal is around 190 pds. Currently hovering in the 215 range....It all depends on your frame as well and how you feel. Some people that are this tall have small frames, I am not one of those.0

I am new to this journey and am almost 6 feet tall. I currently weight about 291 and have lost about 7 lbs. since last week Sunday since taking MFP seriously. I have a goal of about 185 to 188 lbs. Is this realistic or is it too high or low? Also does anyone have a success story they can share for someone about my height and weight?
Shedding 103 - 106 lb@2lb a week at most, recommended by MFP, translates to 51 weeks (+/-) is a good place to work towards. You don't seem to have any outside factors affecting the reasoning behind your weightloss, so you're more fortunate in that regard, where you can reassess once you've reached your 188lb goal weight.
There's no blue print to suit everyone. It is not about whether we think 188 is too much or too low for you; It should be about where you feel comfortable in your body. It's about how your fat distribution sits on your body; Where you want it off from; Where your fat chooses to come off from first to last; You can reach 188 or even 185 and still carry fat where you do not wish it to be. At that moment you will obviously choose to shed more bad fat, once you've reached your desired weight. IF at 185 - 188 you have achieved your ideal body, then stop.
106lb isn't easy to lose. It's a lot of work. A lot of discipline. A lot of sacrifice. Weeks with some results and some with no movement whatsoever (not the scale, not the tape measure, not the photos and not the clothes ~ minimum checks), but you have to find it from within yourself to stick to it and push through ~ despite!! It's 106lb ~ it will not just come off; You can't will it off, as you know of your recently lost 7lbs. And it's just not about coming off ~ It has to stay off!!0 -
Hiya, totally struggling, no weight lost, eating 1400-1500 calories, but one says I should eat 2230 ??
weighed myself and no weight lost, which I don't understand,
im 6ft 1, does anyone know hoe much I should be eating - pleaseeeee
It is different for everyone depending on your activity level and so forth. I'm currently eating 1800-1900 calories and I've lost about a pound a week with that so far. I'm 5ft 10in and I workout about 3-4 times a week (but didn't at first).0 -
I'm somewhere betwen 5'11 and 6'0. I started at 210lb in August, I saw a picture of myself and almost started crying. All fall I tried to start getting active but didn't do so well. Ended up weighing about 197 lb around christmas, still 10lb but that took me 4 months haha. This week I weighed in at 173 and I'm starting to feel really good about myself. I'd like to get to somewhere around 150-160 which I think would look good on me. I've been down to 145 before and I looked horrible, but then again I didn't have any muscle and just looked bony. I think it's so fascinating how women the same height all look so different at different weights. Some girls look great at 180 or 200, whereas others can weigh 130 and not look at all sick like I did.
Keep going strong tall ladies!!0 -
oh and I just found this calculator!, super easy and takes into account your frame size

Thanks! That was very helpful. I always figured I have a large frame, but that just proved it.0 -
6 foot 3 here. My goal is anywhere between 185-195. I have a ways to go but I know I will be rockin out by then. Keep up the good work and nice to know so many tall girls are out there!0

i am 5'10" currently weighing in at 200lbs (down from 224lbs) and my goal weight is around 170/175lbs0
-
I'm 5' 10". My highest weight was 276. I'm currently at 254. I'm working in small goals. So my next goal is 240.0
-
Depending on who measures me I fall anywhere between 5'10" and 6'... Either the weight I am carrying around is pulling down that or I am shrinking.. maybe both.. gravity can be funny.
My goal number is 175. I am more going on size goal and how I feel... If I get down that low.. great... I started at 275 (and at my heaviest a few years ago was 284), if i get anywhere close to that but am comfortably in my goal size (14) then thats fine with me. I have always been a curvy girl and hope to always be.
When I was younger in my early 20's I was about 145 lbs. I know theres no getting back there because I actually have muscle and streghtn now.
I try to focus on the 10% chunks. But seriously... who doesnt have a little mini party in their own head when the scale goes down even a little...0 -
Hey ladies!
I started using MFP in the second week of January. I have logged in like clockwork everyday, charting everything. I've lost 30 pounds so far. Now, to my real point...
I started out at 203. I'm 5'10" and am naturally muscular. My original goal weight was 150, but as I learned how I liked to workout, I figured out that weightlifting not only complements my frame, but makes my body look completely different at whatever number I've had in mind. I'm currently at 173, which is roughly what I weighed when I got married two-and-a-half years ago - but I look so much better. The weights have made this 173 so much healthier than my wedding 173.
What I'm trying to say is this: ultimately, your weight is just a number. What you need to really consider are things like your cardiovascular endurance, your muscular development, your blood pressure and heart rate, but MOST OF ALL: how your body FEELS, not necessarily how it LOOKS. I still have days when my mirror upsets me, but I still know that I FEEL amazing.
It's about changing your perspective re: your own interpretation of your body. Your body has to feel good and like it is yours, and then your goals for how it looks will be healthy and realistic and make you happier than you thought they could.
Good luck ladies, keep it in beast mode!0 -
I am 6' exactly and weigh 320 lbs. My goal is 200lbs, but I am prepared to change that number depending on the way that my body looks. I use to think that losing a ton of weight would make me look funny because I have a large frame, but I have lost 89 pounds and feel amazing. I also look normal. I still need to lose more weight, but for now my overall goal is 200lbs.
Good Luck on your weight loss journey and please add me.0 -
5'10" (I know the OP says 5'11-6'0 but I figured I'd post anyway)
Medium/Large frame
SW: 300#
CW: 189#
GW: 170#
Long term goal: 160-170# depending on BF% and clothing size once I get to 170!
Strong not skinny!0 -
hey! I'm 5'11 my highest weight was 216 my current weight is 173 my goal weight is 155. ALMOST THERE!0

oh and I just found this calculator!, super easy and takes into account your frame size
http://www.divine.ca/en/ideal-weight-calculator/c_317/?spfb=like
This calculator can be deceiving. 50# ago it would have said I was small to medium framed, not it says I am large framed. As I gained weight, my wrists and fingers have gotten bigger. I think the medium frame is accurate.
I am 5' 11' - 6' 0" (depending on who is measuring me) I currently weigh about 323. My highest weight (before MFP) was 380. I lost down to 230 and gained back up to 340.
My goal is 185, my dietician says 150. I think I will be too thin at 150. I weighed 185 at 20 when I got married, I looked good at that weight. Ultimately, I will stop when I feel I am at a good weight.
ETA: The calculator states I should weigh 171-1860 -
I am 5 10 and currently at 168 25.6% body fat, I got down to 154 and it was to small and hard to maintain. I now have more muscle and feel great where I am at, I am a size 8 and medium btw Sounds reasonable.0

I'm 6'0 and I currently weigh 265. My goal weight is 185 and I am having a hard time getting motivated enough to start a hard core diet and work out! I have been reading a lot of the posts on here and there have been so many amazing weight loss stories! I have FINALLY decided enough is enough and I need to put everything I have into loosing weight! Thank you all for putting your stories on here for everyone to read!0

Love all the tall women!!
I am 5'11 - I started at 213
I am down to 181
My first goal is to get to 160 and see how I feel
I think I would like to be 149.0 -
I'm 5'10" and started at 220. I'm now at 173 and I feel so much better, but my ultimate goal is to get to 150 and see how it feels. I weighed 145-150 until I was about 23, then put on pounds and pounds until I hit 30. I was around 190, then I had 2 kids, 4 years apart. Between "reward" eating (I'm a nurse, so whenever I had a bad day, I would eat. Heck, even if I had a "good" day, I would eat!!) and not exercising, I ended up at 220 by December 2012. I decided that 2013 would be THE year that I took charge of my health, weight, and fitness and have not looked back. I'm more fit now than I was in my late 20's and I feel fantastic. I'm now finally at a "normal" BMI, but I still have 23 lbs to go to get to my goal. Like some of the others have said, it's not so much about the number as it is about feeling happy at whatever weight "suits" you. Good luck! You can do it!!0

It seems to be very individual. I'm always surprised at how differently people carry weight. Do you want to be slim and healthy or hottie skinny? (which I've never been in my life ... well, maybe when I was 17 I'm 5'10", and I'm happy at 160, thrilled at 155.0

I'm 5'11", started at 247, now I'm at 166. My goal was originally to get to 165, now I may try to lose 5-10 more lbs depending on how I look. Really I just wanna lower my bodyfat percentage at this point.
This is a photo of the progress I made being on here a year.0 -
I'm 5'10 /5'10 1/2 , I started at 256 & I am now at 230 ..my goal for right now is 200 , sounds crazy I know . The weight I'd love getting down to and eventually will is 180 . ( :0

I'm 5'11 and currently about 250. The time I remember really liking my body was high school and I was about 170 back then. So that's my goal but I will see how I feel when I start dropping the pounds I was 210 when I started college and I looked alright just had pretty big thighs lol.0

You look great!!!0 -
I am 6'0" and started about 177lbs. I thought I would look great by 160 but I am on 162 and have a long way to go.
I have a healthy BMI and have started strength training to lose the body fat as thats what concerns me more these days, staying away from the scales!0 -
I'm 5'10" and I'm most comfortable between 140 and 145. I have a small frame. I would be okay weighing more if it's muscle.
Me too. My sister, mother and I are all 5'10" and all have different size frames.
I have a medium frame and am most comfortable around 140 and 145, but my mother who is large-boned with broad shoulders looked anorexic when she was 145 and then my sister, who has a small frame, looked lumpy at 145!
I myself topped out at 176 and looked and felt absolutely horrible.0 -
I'm 6'0" and I'm working to get to 175. However if I'm happy with my look, I'm willing to stop anywhere under 200.0

Hey guys I'm new here but decided it was time to make the changes to my body I've always wanted, at the beginning of the summer I was 180 pounds at 5'11 which is almost overweight for my height. I've been gently increasing my exercise and watching what I eat particularly in the evenings and have managed to get myself down to 165 pounds. My goal weight is 155 though I might get there and decide I want to be 150 if it doesn't make me look too skinny.
Good luck everyone you all look fantastic, it's very inspiring!
