50 shades of grey, yo

I read all three for review.
The first book lacks plot, and all three books are badly written save for the sex scenes.
I'm serious.
Everything else seems like non consequential fluff until sex happens. This book didn't make me care about Mary sue (sorry Anastasia Steele) or Christian. I hate that it feeds into that whole "virgins get the best of everything" and "anyone who is into BDSm must be ****ed in the head" stereotypes.
I accept that its a fantasy, but it could at least be a well written one. However after reading this, who could get angry at there husbands for watching porn? Just sayin.0 -
And I never will!. Thanks for the glowing review! That was fantastic!0

Read them and loved them. Though I have to admit by about the middle of book three I was craving more of a plot. But overall I really enjoyed them.
I just have one question............Where can I find my own personal Christian Grey?
There are many Christian Greys in prison...just get yourself a pen pal...I'm sure you can change him too!
WOW, I thought that this was supposed to be a fun topic, not someplace to be rude!!! Oh well............0 -
but he touched her DOWN THERE
author really needs another phrase because DOWN THERE is way overused.0 -

Now and again I like a good smutty romance book full of funny phrases and action, but from the reviews about this book, I donno, I guess I'm ... turned off by it. *bu-dum pshh* Aannyywayyy, I'll just go back to reading off-stream romance and other better books...0

I am totally laughing out loud in my office at work!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!
This picture is priceless. Sums it up pretty well from what I have heard! I honestly think the book is lame. It just seems like an update to Anne Rice's Sleeping Beauty. People are acting like this is something new, thrilling, and different. When really, these types of books have been around for ages, and as someone stated... not meant to stimulate the brain. I haven't read it, don't know if I will or not, to me it's just not worth it. lol.0 -
Hilarious!!
It sucked. I'm embarrassed that I read it. The "oh my"s made me want to stab my eye.
LOL Totally agree. One of the only books I've ever thrown out after reading.0 -
bump...at work and want to remember this for later0

great review.
i tried to read it for curiosity's sake. i managed a couple of pages before throwing up in my mouth a little.
that's not how kink works, yo.
also, it makes me very sad that some trees were killed for bad fanfic. *sigh*0 -
That link is awesome! I laughed so hard! Thanks for sharing!0

That kitty is my hero.
50 shades of shat was worth reading just to fully appreciate that review!0 -
It's Twilight fanfiction with the names changed. Really, the only way it could go was down, and in terms of "would you want to meet these people in real life" its actually worse.
I'd hate the **** out of Bel- I mean whatsherface. (Honestly, she's made to be bland so the reader HAS to replace her dismal personality with their own. That's just horrific writing in its essence) on principle and I'd despise Edw- I mean Christian because he's a total chode and a domineering *kitten*.
literotica. AO3. Hell, even freakin' fanfiction.net has better written porn than that drivel, and they're all free.0 -
MMD and passed it on, thanks!0

Yeah, I've read the books. They were just ok. At least I can contribute to the conversation when we bash them.
LOVE the link!!! Had to read them all. Great job apply the .gifs HILARIOUS!!!!0 -

After the cat was done slapping the **** out of this kid, I'd go ahead and give him a slap. Little ****.0 -
I did not read it or do I have the desire to read it. But several of my friends did and I was the beneficiary of their enjoyment of the book. So it get a thumbs up from me (as long as I never have to read it)0

*kitten* 50 shades
You want hotness? Read JD Robb's "In Death" series.....good murder mysteries with just enough sex thrown in to make it steamy. And Roark puts Christian Gray to shame...............Irish dudes are way sexy.0 -
Would never read it, not my type of book, I read True Crime.0

Read them and loved them. Though I have to admit by about the middle of book three I was craving more of a plot. But overall I really enjoyed them.
I just have one question............Where can I find my own personal Christian Grey?
Craigslist.0 -
I personally like Lori Foster's books... her books are tasty.0

It's this kind of ignorant trash that sets feminism back decades. Women who defend this book are, however unwittingly, participating in some of the most blatant misogyny I've ever witnessed, giving the impression that some women enjoy being debased, abused, and controlled (outside of a consensual dom/sub relationship). This is not a book about BDSM, this is a book about one sick, abusive man and his obsession with a young, naive invertebrate. It's a book about a girl who has absolutely no sense of self, who sacrifices any pretense of individuality in order to hold onto a man who doesn't even show her the faintest glimmer of respect. It's about two attention-starved individuals with the emotional maturity of toilet paper convincing themselves that their relationship is 'like, the best thing ever, OMG'. It's trite, insulting, and dangerous. I fear for any impressionable young women who read this and think that this is how an ideal relationship should operate. If nothing else, it should be issued as a guidebook to mothers around the world to show their daughters the kind of man to avoid at all costs. This book does good men (and indeed, all of humanity) a disservice.
WELL THAT SUMMED UP MY FEELINGS PERFECTLY0 -
Just watch this...it will cure you of ever needing to read this book.....

yup, basically sums up 100% of the book..0

That was hilarious, thanks for posting.0

I read the first one and have no interest in reading the rest. I heard she keeps going on about her "inner goddess", and I really have no interest in reading all her repetitive phrases and how much Ana keeps "blushing furiously".0
-
this was the worst book ever written. Should be called "50 Shades of Crap"
How this is considered a well written book is beyond me. It was a waste of time.0
