Good info. I'll note that I do cardio so that I *can* eat more each day. I am an irritable b*itch on 1200 calories.

I did some cardio too, just not a crazy amount. Now I am down to 15-20 min at 3mph 2 times per week. For my next cut I may try to keep it to that. Well I mean that plus the cardio from squats, deadlifts, bench presses, overhead presses, power cleans (plenty there) chinups, and dips.

Thank you for the good information. I think the first most important step is setting a goal--the right kind of goal. Losing weight should not be the goal--it's the side effect of the steps taken to achieve your goals. Goals have to be specific and hopefully something you're passionate about--otherwise, you're less likely to sustain a healthier lifestyle.

It's crazy, but my goal is to race Enduro or Motocross. I'm the wrong gender, age, and body type for the sport, but I don't care--it's my dream, and I have a limited chance to do it now. To achieve this goal, I have to weigh less and have a certain fitness level. To weight less and have a certain fitness level, I have to eat healthy and find activities I can sustain as exercise (something I enjoy).

    That's my take on goals.

Overall good info. However, I am curious as to what support Alan Aragon and others have for the statement that you can get similar health benefits from weight training as you can from cardio? I've tried googling this, but all I've found is this claim being made with no scientific support, and it seems to be used more often as a justification used by those who dislike cardio.
