My thighs touch and I like it!

  • My granny was brought up that perfect legs touched at the top of the thigh, at the knee, at the widest point of the calf, and at the ankle.

Now we seem to expect legs that don't touch at all.

Different eras, different ideals of beauty...

There is a lot to this issue I guess. I never heard of it until I saw a thread on MFP. Then I looked up "thigh gap" on google and found it to be all the rage. There are several ways to "get" a thigh gap, some pictures are altered, you can achieve it by the way you stand, and also naturally. But if you notice in quite a few of those pictures the chicks are on tippy toes, heals out and leaned slightly forward. I am currently 264 and my thighs totally touch, BUT I can ACHIEVE a thigh gap by doing exactly that, tippy toes, leaning slightly forward and angling my heels out.

As far as whether or not I think it is sexy, I think women should be admired for the characteristics their body posses naturally or artistically. So yes, a thigh gap is sexy. But then so is a woman with nice curvy thighs. :)

I have huge thighs, but also huge hips, so I think I still have thigh gap. It's a little bit smaller than the ridiculous thigh gap when I was a kid at my lightest at like 103 pounds and 5'4". I got made fun of for having too much of a gap back then.

I had never even heard of thigh gap being a sexy thing now.

Can have thigh gap and also have curvy thighs since it's created by having large hips.

I'm 5'5 and even when I was a too skinny 102 pounds, my thighs touched. They've touched since puberty. It wasn't until joining MFP that I learned a thigh gap was a "thing."

Now that I'm aware, I notice it... and I don't particularly like it. It's especially prominent in Victoria's Secrets photos, yet they all have massive cleavage due to the extreme padding in the bras.

At the risk of sounding like an old fuddy dud, I miss the old days of VS when the models had thighs that touched and boobs that didn't.

bump!!! yes.. the old vs models looked more like 'real' women that were in great shape.. but ya not super thin and hugo fake ish lookin boobs...

I have no desire to have a thigh gap! I have curves and I'm proud of it!! And I'm pretty sure plenty of men like them, too!! ;)

uh, a person can have curves and also have thigh gap.

We always called it "chub rub". Makes it really hard to wear dresses in Texas' summers. A lot of painful chafing. So I wouldn't complain. Just a little less rub would be nice. :)

I really want a thigh gap, but just for comfort. My thighs are constantly feeling chaffed, and I can't wear shorts at all! I've had to throw away two pairs of pants recently for the inner thigh holes that I've worn in them. I don't recall ever having a thigh gap, even at my lightest, though, so I don't think it's possible for me. :(
  • I have a thigh gap and I hate it. I try to build muscle there and I even try to gain weight. Nothing will make my thighs touch! it's so frustrating. I feel good about my body until I look in the mirror and see a concave area in my thighs. It's a complete turn off. It literally looks like someone carved an oval shape out of my thighs. be thankful your thighs touch.

Just because my thighs rub does not mean I have "thick" or "fat" legs. I like my legs. My pelvis bones are closer together, I am built this way naturally, but it doesn't mean I am fat. I personally don't like the thigh gap either. It makes a woman look like she is walking on stilts. It just looks awkward to me. But that's my opinion. If you like the boyish look, go for it! I love my curves!
