I wear makeup to the gym

My make up would be smeared all over my face due to the intense amount of sweating.. as well as all over my cutsy tee shirt (b/c I also wear them) when I wipe the sweat from my face. I'd HATE to ruin all my cute pink stuff with mascara. LOL Ps... deodorant.. very good thing.
Ever thought of using a towel?? LOL
Nah.. even when I take a towel or grab one from the front desk I still manage to use my sleeves or the bottom of my tee. LOL I guess I've just been doing it my whole life on the softball diamond and its just reaction. LOL0 -
I don't wear make-up every time I go by any means. However, I have to say, there are days when I do because I feel better when I can look in the mirror and see my eyes standing out rather than disappearing behind my chubby cheeks. It is a silly little thing, but a little waterproof mascara keeps me from sweating it all over the place and I avoid feeling sad about the extra fat on my face.0

I wear make up and cute clothes to the gym too. I also probably look better and lift more than 98% of the girls there :happy:0

so I have to ask....why? Is there a particular reason to wear full on makeup to the gym? Insecurity inside?
I mean, I could care less, but since the topic has been brought up, I guess this is as good of a reason as any to ask why.
I seldom wear makeup on a daily basis, much less to the gym or to a race. I find natural beauty to be much more becoming. But then again, I have been accused of being a bit too self confident.
I rarely wear makeup and cute clothes because most of my time is spent at home with my son and doing school work. So whenever I get the chance to go out and make a public appearance I like to look all cutesy just because I don't get to do it that often0 -

You just need better make up. I would never workout in makeup that wasn't waterproof.0 -

Not an insecurity. I already know I look good so if I can take 5 minutes to look even better than I'd go for it.
I could say the same thing about someone getting dressed everyday. It's much easier to put on big sweats, baggy tshirts, and flip flops to run errands on a daily basis. Doing this would make you look like a slob so does it make the person who puts in more effort to look presentable insecure?0 -

Sure. Excellent point. You want to stop being called prissy princesses for wearing make up at the gym, but call those who chose to go casual slobs?
Fantastic way to state your case.0 -
The last time I wore makeup at the gym they told me to leave. "This isnt that kind of place", they said.0
-
I always like to admire myself in the mirror as I'm working out....is this vain? Probably. Do I deserve to be vain after all the hard work I've done? Um..duh!
I do this all the time. LOL!0 -
I don't leave the house without makeup on no matter where I go. Honestly, if people want to judge me for that they can go ahead. Iol.0
-
I think makeup, along with whatever else you choose to do- wear cute clothes, nail polish, whatever- is acceptable AS LONG AS YOU'RE WORKING OUT. If I see a woman doing these things just for the hell of it, or to pick up guys or whatever, then I probably will not look at her with the same respect0

I doubt they do. But you know.. people can't have it both ways and I think this thread (not you specifically) illustrates that.
And the ones that do have something to say or judge are probably young and dont' like themselves.0 -

But yes, I do think women that go to gyms all sweaty in extra baggy clothes are not doing themselves any favors. You can say all you want "I'm there to sweat" "I don't care how I look" etc etc but to any one looking, it shows pure laziness and a lack of concern for your own personal appearance. That's almost as bad as 'forgetting' to shower because you're gonna sweat anyway
I don't even see how its comfortable to work out in over sized sweaty sweats anyway. I'd never be able to run sprints wearing a big tshirt that got all heavy from sweat. Same if I'm on a bike, I'd feel like somethings gonna get caught. Even just lifting, how would it be comfortable to do full cleans in baggy sweats?0 -
I would look like Alice Cooper if I wore make up to the gym.0
-
I don't really give a *kitten* what other women at the gym are doing, as long as they're not wasting a perfectly good machine. I would only take notice if they were in my way, and that hardly ever happens, so, wear a Halloween costume for all I care.
I wear makeup, and sometimes even jewelry to the gym. I don't really care what other people think of that either. It works for me.0 -

How is wearing make-up to the gym being a prissy princess?
& You know what? I will never forget the day my brother was talking about how in boot camp for the marine corps, his superiors would yell at them about always looking their best in their uniforms. They used to talk tons of *kitten* about civilians, saying how big of slobs we are and how sloppy we go out in public looking.
It's called having pride in yourself and the way you look. Whether you are at the gym, the mall, the store, work, etc.0 -
but I look very presentable, even without makeup. But I'm not very materialistic either. I'm rather simple.
I don't mean that offensive, for those who are ready to pounce.0 -
If I just got out of work or from running errands I will work out with makeup because I'm to lazy to wash it off beforehand, whatever, but get all glam to go to the gym--that's what I think is dumb, some people act like it's a night club. I'm there to sweat and get fit, not hook up.0
-
I have no problem with it. I like to match my clothes but be confortable since i am gonna be working out hard. I dont go to the gym but personally im not sure i would wear makeup just because i would feel like my face is getting clogged and i already have a hard enough time with acne! I wouldnt judge anyone for it either unless you can tell its those chicks that go to the gym to look cute in front of guys and barely sweat!0
-
Same haha. Just foundation though unless I am coming from work/on my lunch break. Last time I worked out after work I sweat and I had mascara above my eyelids but had no idea and was walking around the gym like that for an hour ha0

Point is. You want respect, freaking give some.
This isn't a battle. Jiminy Christmas. It's two different ideals.0 -
If I look good, I feel good. If I feel good, I work hard! If I look like crap, I'm just not going to work as hard.
In my opinion: No shame in wanting to look your best so that you perform your best!
So this.
Plus, I'm from the south and was raised by a southern belle mama who always wore makeup out of the house, no matter what.0 -

I actually asked my friend who pretty much lives at the gym what he thinks of women who wear sweats and t-shirts to the gym. You know what he said? He looked at me and said and I quote directly from the text message 'Well I could care less, seriously I am not there to pick up women I am there to work out. You want to wear cute clothes wear them, you want to wear sweats wear them. I think you women are far to judgy when it comes to each other."0 -
everyone stares at me when I wear makeup to the gym. haters.0

Probably depends on the guy. Another thing is most guys probably won't be honest with you when you confront them with questions about how women look.
I've had some guy friends who don't seem to care about anything at the gym and other guy friends who make fun of fat girls and make jokes. Not saying any of it is right but I'm just saying not everyone is thinking nice things all day long.0 -

yeah, I don't think wearing makeup to the gym makes one "prouder" than the other. It's just a thang.0
