Personally it has worked for me in the past but I have to say, Wow! Some posters just need to chill the f^&% out... For one, the OP is just expressing how they are obviously frustrated about how something does not work for them. This is supposed to be a place people can go for help and other advice, not a bunch of critical freaks who get personally offended by the fact what works for them doesnt for another, just because someone doesnt agree with you (or you dont like what they say) does NOT give anyone the right to cut someone else down here. Try motivating instead >:P Shame on you people. You are "obviously uninformed" that this is a website for helping others and support. First off, the OP is obviously either trolling OR just did it wrong.
The concept of eat more to weigh less doesn't mean stuff yourself and think you'll lose weight. It involves two things.
One, eating small meals MORE in the day. So instead of your 3 big meals, you break them down to smaller meals and eat 6 a day. Key word, SMALL meals. Not your normal sandwich, soup, and other junk. Maybe JUST a half sandwich, or JUST your soup, then eat something small again later.
Second thing it depends on is your choices of what you're eating. Eat MORE good food, whole food, fruits and veggies. Not chips, cookies, and pizza. Otherwise, yea, you'll gain weight.
Eating 6 small meals a day is beneficial because it assists your metabolism in being active through out the day rather then in spurts. But just be smart... if it's bad for you, it's bad. Don't eat it. If it's good for you and you're hungry, eat it till you're satisfied. Not full. There's no secret... eating to a better life style is just common sense.
This is what I did in the past and it worked very well for me. Getting pregnant was a huge change and also changed the way I ate LOL, but it is what I am trying to get back on track to do. So to OP I'm not sure how you tried this out but this has worked for me. I also STRETCHED EVERYDAY, that is nice because you get rid of some stress while stretching. Certainly not everything will work for everyone the same way, we are all different, but you can try other things that may work. If you want to ad me I can tell you more how I lost 30lbs in a few months by just eating better foods and smaller meals more often Pre pregnancy of course.0 -

My two cents:
Eat more to weigh less is a misnomer, akin to everyones' favourite: muscle weighs more than fat. You know what it means, and I know what it means, but it doesn't actually mean what it says. Muscle is denser, therefore weighs more in less space. EMTWL requires eating more than just the bare minimum (but less than you used to) in order to lose weight (while not coming across like a lethargic b---- to everyone you meet.0 -

Sadly, my extensive research on the topic, using myself as the guinea pig, shows OP to be correct. I eat more, I weigh more.0

Eat more than your BMR and below your TDEE. As long as you are below the TDEE then the weigh more does not apply.
I don't like it so much as these calculated numbers are such estimates. I swear my metabolism and TDEE is actually much lower than the website calculators say. I have been following the 20% below TDEE since January and since then have only lost 7 lbs.
So I'm jumping off the EM2WL band wagon and am eating a bit below my supposed BMR now.0 -
I did 1200 first then went up to 1500 and I lost 6.6 pounds in 2 weeks.0

Strangely, when I reduced the amount of calories I consumed on a daily/ weekly basis I began to lose weight. Obviously, starvation diets don't work long term, but seriously people:
EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT! NO ONE THING WILL WORK FOR EVERYONE!

I was eating around 1200 calories a day but after exercise my NET was 900 for 4 months. I only lost water weight mostly in the beginning, but then I upped my calories last month to 1490 and again this week to 1690. I eat somewhere around 1500 calories a day and my NET is now between 1200-1500 depending on the day. I've lost like 6lbs these past two weeks just eating more. I wasn't losing weight for two months and I was always hungry. Yes, I did gain like 5 lbs of water weight when I upped them, but eventually I lost it and a little more on the side. I think it was worth the wait, because my body def. feels like I'm not starving it anymore. Not saying this works for everyone, but it worked for me. Side Note: My BMR is 1490 & my TDEE is around 1800. So I'm eating the right amount now, then as before I was just starving.0 -

Do you work for weeks to lose a few pounds and a few slip ups later it's all back on and twice as hard to lose?
That muscle you lose from inadequate caloric intake is the reason. With less mucle you will then gain faster, what you gain is fatter and it's also why it's harder to lose than the first time around.
Yup, you can lose weight by eating minimal calories. Fast even.
But you will also lose muscle. More than you would have if you kept your macros where they should be and calories up to an amount that keeps your body happy.
Who wants to fight that battle? I don't. The up & down struggle is exhausting and is what makes so many people give up and give in. They just throw in the towel cause this *kitten* ain't working. some people say they are full on 1200 calories but I believe that for most people that just isn't true. You gained weight in the first place from over eating aka too many calories. I LOVE me some food so I rather eat!
When you eat properly and have enough muscle you train your metab and become a fat burning machine that can indulge more frequently without consequence. Imagine that!
I want to get the strongest, healthiest, fittest me and stay that way for life. I learned this lesson the hard way. MUSCLE & fueling your body properly IS the only way to reach that goal.

What distinguishes your post from the ones I think people are sick of is your clarification that for some it may be true, instead of a blanket "It's not true." So your post didn't bother me in the slightest. In fact, I agree with it. Though I eat 1200 myself, I'll often suggest that others consider eating more because there is no reason with their stats to eat that little. I'll also point out that your body does adapt to your intake and if you go too low immediately, you won't have anywhere to go that's healthy when you have less weight to lose.0 -

There are times when cycling your calories down makes sense. Just not the way I want to live! I think the missing component that people who have tried eating more (not more than your TDEE just more than bare minimum) is muscle. Lifting weights and maintaining high protein is essential! I tried the low cal thing and it resulted in me losing my hair, energy, and hitting a six month plateau despite eating 1500, 1200, 1000 calories. I am fairly certain that those of you who claim "it didnt work for me" did not give it long enough to really determine if it was "working." Its truly sad to see people think that they have to starve themselves to lose weight....and not only that, but feel the need to ridicule those who are working hard to achieve their fitness goals in a way that is healthy and sustainable.0

That's how I feel too when people condescend to me or ridicule me about my calories without knowing me (or when I see it done to someone else), so I can relate. It's not ok on either side.0 -
I tried eating at about 1600, didn't lose anything.
Tried at 2300 (based on my husbands calculations) didn't lose or gain any weight.
Now at 1950 (based on my own calculations) been losing a lb a week, easy.
*Shrugs* It's all about finding the right number for you.0
