@robin--congrats on that loss! :flowerforyou: Have you done any shopping for the Jamaica trip?

@alison--sounds like a lot of activity yesterday--rooting for you to break the 2-week plateau! :drinker:

@kelley--yes, I will go to the gym after school and work off yesterday's excess. I used to drink the EAS shakes--they had some that were for low-carb diets and I really liked them--the dark chocolate flavor was delicious! I may need to get back into drinking those occassionally.

@holly--after my Popeye's binge yesterday, one chicken wing sounds like a win--proud of your for stopping at just the one!

    @toots--Thanks for the support!

Hurray for all of the victories! Yesterday was a really blah day for me. I just didn't feel like doing much of anything. I did get in my 30 min walk and finished the chemo caps. It was snowing all day. For some reason that just took the energy out of me. Consequently, my goal today is to get motivated to get some things done around here. I know there is plenty to do and I won't have to look very hard to find it. Its snowing again today, but I can't let that derail me again. Have a great day. Kaye

Laurie - I hope your knee problems continue to improve. I had to sympathise when you mentioned your DECADE of walking on ice and twisting your ankle - although its not funny, I chuckled because I was the same way, in fact my right ankle has been in a cast over 6 times for just twising it. Finally the docs discovered an unattatched tendon and fixed it. Problem solved for me! But I still walk quite gingerly over ice and snow and wary of pot holes and little uneven-nesses....

mackbeth - great 2.6 loss! WOOT WOOT! Your walks sound lovely in Colorado - while we stopped in Denver the altitude did affect us, and I was thirsty all the time. Hope your knee is better too.

Naceto - I am excited for you getting your English Honors class! Having a full schedule and work too is really going to keep you busy and out of the kitchen maybe? I'm pulling for you!

Charlotte - that is shocking about the nurses' layoffs. I hope the figure is exaggerated and its not nearly that many! As for you and your weight loss journey, I know you are going to do great! Hope the scale reflects your efforts tomorrow!

Alison - Great exercise - terrific walk!

Kaye - hope you have a great, busy day!

Tuesday goals..... Get back on track after yesterday. I had a good solid healthy breakfast, had my regular mid morning snack of a mandarin and a cheese stick. Then KABOOM, for lunch I ate 3/4 of a pizza hut medium cheese lovers pan pizza. The rest of the day consisted of tons of mandarin oranges (like half a dozen), three granola bars, two servings of air popped popcorn (great UNTIL I added TWO tbsp of butter and TONS of salt to it), and... I think that might be it. Anyway, I was -1555 on my daily caloric intake and feel nice and sluggish and carpy today because of it. Also bloated because it was -1736 over my sodium limit. Blech.
OF course I didn't walk yesterday. I spent the afternoon in bed with the boys watching Star Trek and stuffing my face with carbs... with bouts of carb coma in between food trips to the kitchen.

So, on that note :) Sounds like every one is doing great today, Aches and pains slowly healing, diets getting back on track, and everyone in general hanging in there.

Since I bailed on work yesterday (if I don't work, I don't get paid) I have to try and make up 8 hours over the rest of the pay period. Longer hours means no exercise outside this week so I guess I might as well start the 30 day shred again. It's been on my to do list for ages. Now is as good a time as any to be in incredible pain.

Had my granola and almond milk for breakfast. I have my chicken casesar salad for lunch and TWO mandarins and a stick of cheese for snacks while at work. Huuzah, let's get to it!

Oh, and water tag. Everyone drink one big glass! :drinker:

Just finished my 7th glass of water. I also used the gym for my first time on lunch today and I loved it. My walk is done for today.

@Karen- I love poppey's and could not just eat one of their wings. These wings didn't taste all that great plus it was my bed time I was more tired than hungry.

@Robin- Can you fit me in your luggage  I love the sun and warmth. Have fun shopping for your trip.

Hi all. I got up had breakfast, showered, picked up a little around the house, and then dived in with 20 sweaty minutes with Leslie Sanson. I have to say I hate her perkiness but it is easier to talk myself into her then going outside to walk. I get bored outside and am surrounded by hills which kill my ability to breathe instantly. So thats 2 days in a row that I have worked out. Dare I say I might finally be ready to trully implement this phase of the lifestlyle change. My goals for the week are to esercise 4 more days and take sunday off.

    Wednesday: Chalistneics
    Thursday: Leslie Sanson
    Friday: Chalistenics
    Saturday: Leslie Sanson

Thats right I posted a workout schedule. Try not to fall over in shock anybody:laugh: congrats to everybody who had a loss for the week on the scale. I have drank 3 20 ounce glasses of water so far today and am shooting for 3 or 4 more so everybody grab a glass and join me in a drink:drinker: Have a great day everyone:flowerforyou:

I also find Leslie Sansone way to perky. I have her walk away the lbs videos and I turn the volume REALLY low. Then I turn on a great TV show(has to be a rerun of something since I'm not pa ying 100% attention) and turn the volume up loud. :P I keep one on her to make sure I'm transitioning with the group and the other eye on the TV where I'm entertained.

Queen - I am not shopping for trip yet - want to get smaller - right now I still fit into last summer's capri's and bathing suits and cover-up. Hope I get a significant loss and can buy something smaller - and find things cheaply. Just got a shock picking up prescriptions. New copay jumped from $31 to $88 - SHRIEK! I am NOT happy!!!!! :grumble: Although generics remain at $9, the non-generics are gonna kill my pocket-book!.

jtconst - I'm very impressed you posted a work-out schedule. I don't have the moxie yet :blushing: but I hope to within a week or so, that's one of my goals too! 20 sweaty minutes is something to be proud of!

    Water tag! :drinker: :drinker: :drinker:

No goal updates for me again this week----just keep at it! :glasses:

HOLLY - congrats on publishing your goals. That's a monster step. And also congrats on using the gym. You are making such progress.

NACETO - all best wishes to you on the upcoming school term. Do your best---be fierce!

ROBIN - this upcoming vacation sounds like excellent motivation. I tried jogging during commercials---ummmmm, didn't work that well for me. I am a confirmed walker I guess.

And sorry people, Leslie Sansone is just fine with me. When I like something I tend to be quite perky as well. Years ago when I went to the gym at work, people in group classes would grind their teeth when I was there because I really would get into it and whoop and stuff. In real life, I'm pretty subdued, crank some music and it's a different world for me. I find so many ways to annoy people.

JTCONST - a perky congrats to you on MOVIN' IT!!! Whoop.

CHARLOTTE - I am sorry to hear about the cutbacks. I'm sure this has been very stressful. Keep on your personal path. Again, so glad to see you here again.

LIZ - although I'm still sorry about your $$ disappearing, I'm glad it was not the situation it seemed at first. :flowerforyou:

Everyone be well. I personally am having a horrible, miserable, crappy day. I'm hoping things shape up in a couple of days. Meanwhile, I guess I'll just hang on. :ohwell:

    Best wishes.

A good day, my weight was down this morning so I hope it keeps moving in that direction. Still above my lowest weight but I am back to within my normal 5 lb range.

Goal- to keep working out while battling this head cold. I don't want it to turn into anything else.

hi guys, I'm needing to loose over 100 pounds. I live in australia ... so we use Kilos here, but converted it's well over 100. I tried using this app for a little while last year then got crook for a while and forgot all about it. So back with the new year and more serious than ever.
Goal for 2013 is to loose 40 kilos by the end of the year. 1.5 kilos down in my first week.
Things I have done is cut out the soft drink (was drinking up to 2 litres of coke a day)
    No chocolate, or chips
Getting of the train a stop earlier and walking to work, takes around 35 mins
Walking 2 nights a week with friends for an hour

    Things to do ...
Looking at getting a stationary bike for the lounge room, so at night I can jump on the bike and watch telly after the kids are in bed. Checking one out this weekend.
Once I get all this under control will need to start looking at the breakfast/lunch/dinner and snacks to hep it all along.

Welcome! You're off to a great start! Your getting off the train a stop earlier is an excellent effort - that is going to help you do well. As you say, getting your food under control is an important tool, and My Fitness Pal is an excellent way to track your food, as it builds a data base for you of all the common food items you ordinarily eat. Learning to enter your daily foods helps you in so many ways, you'll learn to be aware of eating protein in the mornings, watching your macro- and micro- nutrients of your choice if you are concerned about things such as sodium intake, sugar if you are a diabetic, planning for an evening snack so you have the calories available, and many more ways.

Hi everyone! Glad to see everyone seems so focused on goals today!! Me too!

Sorry no personals tonight--I'm just exhausted!

    Tuesday Goal:
Well, my immediate goal is to work off the excess calories I ate yesterday--I was about 430 calories over goal. Today I am 314 under, so just over 100 left. I will work that off on Thursday b/c tomorrow I have a meeting after work. Longer term goal is to keep the scale moving down toward healthy BMI range.

I was just exhausted all day today (I really need to get more sleep), but I forced myself to stick to my workout plan. It was a VERY slow 1.5 mile run on the treadmill and a leisurely 2.5 miles on the elliptical. But I don't care how slow it was--I'm just glad I did it.

    Grading goals:
    1. x/22 diction analyses
    2. x/48 AP essays
    3. 11/11 AP analysis activities DONE
    4. Get final exams done and copied for AP Lit, H Am Lit, and Adv. G&S

    Exercise Goals:
    Mon--core work DONE
Tues--walk gunner + gym (treadmill and elliptical) DONE
    Wed--core work
    Thurs--walk gunner + gym
    Fri--rest day
    Sat--walk gunner + core
Sun--walk gunner + gym (long run)

Welcome to the new folks, welcome back to returning friends, and hiya Robin!

still soooo close to hitting onederland, and the numbers just keep bouncing up & down :grumble: :grumble: :grumble:

@Charlotte - every time they have a nursing layoff in Arizona, someone starts preaching the "union" word... and as a government employee (state-run hospital), we are technically eligible... but I'd rather eat Crisco than join a union :noway: Hope things work out for your facility & folks.

Put up a bunch of veggies in the freezer over the weekend... now if the stress at work subsides a bit...

Kelley- thanks for the tip on the EAS- I will look for it tomorrow in between classes!

Yes- it IS a lot- Oh my goodness, what have I gotten myself into! Thanks for all of your well wishes. I feel like I am studying ALL the time. 300 Math problems to do between Monday and Wednesday??? Are they trying to kill me? ;) I rise to the challenge! ROAR! (thanks Lin;)

My goal is to keep it up! I have committed to post on this board each day. My posts may not be much at first- sorry, but I am going to stay in the habit. Besides, I miss you guys and gals when I am not around! So far I am doing okay on the food- but again, I can see how it will be easy to slide in between classes. I can't let that happen. I will make the choice to succeed with ALL of my goals. If I don't succeed the first time; I will take the lesson with me on the next trip!

    Good Morning.

Wednesday Wish~That I could get more sleep and that Zoe would learn 3:30am is NOT playtime contrary to what she believes!

I actually had a slip-up with food yesterday myself - was about 400 calories over. What's worse is that I didn't get a workout in since Zoe had a vet appt, but I plan on an hour run tonight which should squash those extra calories. I still have a couple of more days before I have to face the scale.

    Exercise Goals this week:

    Monday~Elliptical DONE!
    Tuesday~None (Zoe to vet) DONE
    Wednesday~Run
    Thursday~Training Session
Friday~Not sure yet - thinking Zumba or Yoga for something different
Saturday~Run (I hope, meeting my mom for a day of shopping)
    Sunday~Training Session

    Happy Wed Everyone :flowerforyou:

Wed wish is that others close to me would understand how important this journey is vs making it hard for me or teasing me about watching what I eat. I love this group because of the support.

Tue- 20 sit up, 10 modified push ups and walk treadmill 30 minutes - got the walk done at work in the gym at lunch. Then went shopping so walked more but didn't get to the other workout items.

Confession- The Coach store by my house has almost every purse 50% plus they gave me a coupon last night for an additional 30% off. I could buy 2 purses for about $110.00. It is so tempting because I have never owned a purse that has not come from Payless. I have the money once I get reimubursed for my classes next week but I am still trying to justify even buying 1 purse at $55.00.

    @Darmanin- Welcome to the group.
@Lin- I think that I am a life time walker. I ran the 1 and 2 mile on my high school track team but as an adult running has worked well for me yet.
@Robin- Sorry to hear about your medicine copay. I honestly hate hearing that because things in the country that are needed like food and meds are so costly. It makes sense not to shop yet.
@Naceto- I feel you with the math questions. I took a math class and sociology class at the same time last semester it was so hard for me to keep up with the math or even learn it for the first time as an adult. I learned the next math class I take that will be my only class for the semester. I also learned my 16yr old helped me a lot so I should take all the math I can while he is still living at home
@Laurie- Congrats on working out when having a head cold.

When the worry got so bad I started eating and smoking. I quit smoking over five years ago. So to start again after all that time is sad:frown: .

I started talking to God to help me. He has been keeping us. I just have moment being a sigle unemployed mom is not easy.

To everyone who's having a rough time keeping on track at the moment; this is the month where we just need to hunker down, follow the plan, and trust that it will come good. You can all do this thing.

@Robin -- Well done on dropping from December. Jamaica sounds fantastic!
@Karen -- I think I'm back on track now. My daughter gave me a big hug yesterday and said (imagine withering sarcasm) 'Oh, right, Mum, you're really sad because you *can't* lose *weight* over *Christmas*.' So I sort of realised that I was being a bit of a doofus, and the scale is starting to move in the right direction again now.
@Kris -- I bought a litre of almond milk at Christmas for my niece who can't eat dairy or soy, but she didn't have any, so I just tried some. It's ok but seems very sweet -- turns out the second ingredient is sugar. To my taste it's much sweeter than milk. I might mix it up wtih bananas or make porridge out of it, and if I buy it again, I'll get the unsweetened.
@Tammy -- Well done on the workout plan!
@Darmanin -- Welcome! I've found that logging everything I eat really helps, as does exercising (nearly) every day.
@Kelley -- I never worry too much if I'm 400 calories over, cos I reckon that with MFP set to a 1lb loss, 400 cals over is still a deficit. My problem the last couple of weeks has been going a little over *every day*. But I think I'm back on the path now.
@Holly -- I think that people who are thin or thin-ish don't realise what life can be like for those of us who are carrying a load of excess weight, and they tease because it's so different from their experience they can't comprehend. I think this is especially true of people who occasionally 'go on a diet' to lose a few pounds. Losing a lot of weight is a totally different proposition. And when you get teasing from people who also have a lot of extra poundage, I think *that* teasing means 'I am feeling threatened by your journey, because I tell myself that it's impossible or pointless, and if you're successful, it says something about me.' More expensive purses do last a little longer, but not so much longer than cheap ones. But I think it's worth having one bag that you really, really like, even if it's a bit more expensive, just for the way it makes you feel.
@KSea -- WELL DONE for not smoking for three days! Just take it one day at a time. For all that eating well and exercising are important and good for us, giving up smoking is the single best thing you can do for your health (and for your children's health if you smoke at home or if they see you smoking.). Keep going!

Well I SWEATED today because I have just done a 5 mile run. And I'm not really very hungry because I find that these long runs suppress my appetite for a few hours. I'll be hungry tomorrow...

My Wednesday wish is that pixies come and put away all the remaining Christmas stuff, because we've just not got it sorted and it's starting to mess up our life a bit. Tonight!

    Have a great day, everyone!

@Holly~I deal with something similar at work. My co-worker and office-mate is 50+ pounds overweight and is on oral meds for diabetes. Her doctor has told her she needs to change her diet (carbololic) and lose the weight, but she isn’t. She tells me constantly that I “eat like a bird.” I just have to fire back and say no, I eat a “serving” of food.

@Nicole~Honestly it depends on the type of math, I can remember when one calculus problem could take an hour! But if they are real simple math problems, I can see it only take a couple of minutes each to complete – although 300 problems in two days seems excessive. One thing about math is that it’s learned by repetition and you seem to spend more time working and perfecting it than most other classes - still I wonder why he assigned so many. You can do it – just take it one problem at a time!

My prayers go out to you and your kids. I know times are hard for you right now but God's love will help you. I am glad that it's been 3 days since your last smoke. I personally struggle with eating when stressed so can't comment on that. I hope you have close friends or family that you can share your struggle with talking about it does help. Also, here in MN a lot of churches help people in crisis out maybe that is an option for you or maybe you have tried that already.

Wednesday wish: I wish that I could be more consistent in my sleep. I know good sleep would make a difference, but it is a huge issue for me. I have been seeing a sleep specialist for a number of years, and have a CPAP and O2 at night, but my sleep is still very broken and erratic. :ohwell:
Our weather is very snowy and getting a little warmer, but it looks like it will be a while before it gets warm enough to melt the snow, so I can walk outside. Yesterday I worked the stairs, today a walk at the indoor track. I guess I have 2 wishes, because I am really wishing and hoping that the weather will be good next week. I want to drive to UT to see my dad for his 94th birthday over MLK weekend.
It sounds like everyone is getting back on track after the holidays. Good job. I think that its especially hard to make good choices when we have a lot of stress. My thoughts are with those of you who are in particularly stressful situations right now. Welcome to the new ones. I have been here since Oct. and have been made to feel like part of the group. I really appreciate the support and a place to vent when I need to. I don't talk about my journey to good health very much outside of here. I think that most people really don't care what I am doing about my health and weight. As long as my immediate family is supportive, no one else needs to know.
    Have a good day. Kaye

Let me start by saying my math class was a developemental class because my enterence test score was so low in math that I couldn't start right off at college level. I basically was taking pre alegbra (6th grade math). Yes, I passed with a B but it did take a lot of extra effort and discipline on my side. My teenager sat many nights working problems with me and it was still hard to understand. I took my class once a week and we had about 6-7 chapters due a week with about 20-40 problems per chapter cuz we only did the odd problems. The homework time sounds about right I was doing 1.5-2 hrs.

    -- Alison

Thanks for that view point on the subject of my journey. Ironicly the person is my partner he is heavier than I by about 25lbs he has horrible health issue with his BP and heart so I would wish he would understand from a health stand point. He just tells me I am trying to get thin to get men's attention. I honestly have never been real thin so just being healthy is fine for me.

Kaye

Prayers for better sleep coming your way along with better weather to see your dad.

Jtconst- I am getting close to posting an exercise goal for the week, but I am still on the fence. Good for you for doing yours.

I had a good day yesterday, was under on food and got a lot of steps in.

Hope everyone has a healthy day!
