My guy has this buddy who has been friends with him for about 25 years and has been in his daughters life since she was a baby ... She is a very attractive young girl but recently came to me very upset he tried to sleep with her the second she turned 18....... I do not understand this guy as he is VERY intelligent , handsome, has a lot going for him ... Since that incident he is always dating these young girls 18,19,20,21 etc... He is in his late 40s. What could a man this age possibly have in common with these young girls?? What is your opinion on much older men dating much younger women??? I tried talking with another friend and she thought I was hypocritical because my guy is 10 years older than me but I am 33 and he is 43 and I think that age difference is a lot different than someone who is 30s or 40s dating an 18 year old.....

I have two daughters. I've also dated a guy 15 years older than me, for a month. Then I realized why he was single and why he was going for the younger girls..0

I have a daughter, she is my world. She is her Father's world too. If someone tried that when she were older, I'm sure the dude would be in critical condition...that's just CREEPY. Ew.
That person can easily be my father... yeah. No. The oldest man I have dated was...8 years older than me.0 -

I have a daughter. She's 9. If a man does that to her, he may have broken legs the next day. Just sayin'
But that kind of happened to me...
My uncle owned a chain of grocery stores, and my dad managed them. I grew up in the local one, even started working there when I was fifteen. There was a man who worked there. I considered him a friend. He was old. I had known him since I was like ten... or so... when I turned, 18, he started talking about taking me out for a steak. He was a family friend. I didn't think anything about it. I was totally clueless. I went to eat steak with him. He didn't try anything then. But later... he did... and it disgusted me. I couldn't understand how this man whom I'd known for years, could do that to me.0 -
my daughter is only 3 so thank God i don't have to worry about that yet (though all the little boys do gravitate towards her when she's playing at the park)
and honestly, i wouldn't love the idea. BUT if he has true genuine feelings for her and she has true feelings for him and he treats her nice and respects her and is good for her physically, mentally, and emotionally, then let the two of them be happy.
ON THE OTHER HAND....if he's just looking for sex with a hot young girl then tell the sleazeball to stay the hell away from her!0 -
its an ego booster for his mid life crissis0
-
this person needs to be kept away from her. that sounds outright messed up if he knew her since she was a child.0
-
Does your guy know what happened??
I would keep these girls away from him. I would not even allow him in my house personally but thats me.0 -
When I was 34 I fell in love with a 17 year old.
I left my home in the Middle East, started a new job in the UK just to see if it would work. We dated for a year and then moved in together & got engaged. We lived very happily for over six years until our business went bust and we split up.
Age is nothing but a number. In some countries (UK incl) its legal to get married at 16.
There are some places in the Western world, where getting married at 14 occurs.
On the converse side, I have a daughter also. She will be educated to make choices that need to be evaluated before committing to them. When she hits 18 (legal age in Holland, where she lives) I will have no right to tell her what can and cannot happen in her life. But I trust she will make the right decisions based on her education.0 -

the thing is: a 34 year old should have nothing in common with a 17 year old. very little in common anyway. there is a good chance that persons biggest issues are getting their homework assignment done and the mean girls in at school. youth are considered youth in the western world for a reason: most of them are unemployed, most of them go to high school
we shelter youth with poor sex education and disempower them: not letting them make decisions and telling them what to do. it removes any and all autonomy. being in a relationship with someone who can't even legally buy alcohol and is consistently told what to do should NOT be dating a 34 year old.
when i was younger, around 17, a lot of older men hit on me. Now that I am 26 I realize what serious *kitten* they were...they obviously just wanted one thing or are uneducated dirtbags who have nothing going for them but to prey on young girls.0 -

I totally agree with this .. Women are not mature enough at that age to be with someone so much older...0 -

my daughter is 12 almost 13 and I know how you feel... Especially she is starting to grow boobs and become more grown I worry perverts are checking her out ughhhhhh0 -

yes he knows and so he chooses to not be close with this guy anymore but he is not a confrontational type of guy so he said to his friend how much it bothered him and how wrong it is etc.... now he does not talk to him hardly if at all...0 -

Absolute rubbish!
We met while she was diving at my scuba diving centre. So we had diving in common.
She is an ardent cyclist - Tick.
She was a business studies major - we ran a business together. (which she wrote the business plan for that the bank gave us money)
She had her friends, I had mine, we had mutual ones.
Doesnt sound too disconnected, does it?
we shelter youth with poor sex education and disempower them: not letting them make decisions and telling them what to do. it removes any and all autonomy. being in a relationship with someone who can't even legally buy alcohol and is consistently told what to do should NOT be dating a 34 year old.
My ex g/f had made her mind up what she wanted to be, and how she wanted to get there by the time she was 16. (before she had even met me) Admittedly she put that on hold when we bought the business, but since we split up, she has gone back to working in the financial sector of the City and is working for an American bank.
There was no disempowerment going on anywhere. She made the decisions based on what education she had, and made choices (reasoned & rational) and she made the decision to move in, she finished school, she got her degree, I didnt do any of that for her.
I provided the house, she made the home. Based on her choices, our home was stunning. Im a guy who thinks peach is a fruit not a colour, so that's why I m happy that happened.when i was younger, around 17, a lot of older men hit on me. Now that I am 26 I realize what serious *kitten* they were...they obviously just wanted one thing or are uneducated dirtbags who have nothing going for them but to prey on young girls.
That might be, but I am far from uneducated, I am certainly not a *kitten*, and I resent that you lump me in with what obviously was the low end of the gene pool from where you were.
I grant you, this OP's tale is sleazy. but my own situation is far from that.0 -
The "friend" was sleazy, simply because he hit on the daughter of a close friend. That is unacceptable. I agree.
But in general, there is nothing wrong with a 48 year old man (or however old he is) asking out an 18 year old girl (and of course the opposite is also true: 48 year old woman, 18 year old boy).
She's 18, not 12. She's a legal adult. Why does anyone bring up their 12 year old daughter?? That is something else entirely (actually, in most states in the USA, it's statutory rape). That has nothing to do with an 18 year old adult being asked out by another adult. If she's not interested, she just needs to say, "no thanks." Done. Over.
But again, in this particular case is was wrong, because it's the daughter of a friend. If he felt there was a mutual attraction, he should have asked his friend first if it was OK to ask his daughter out. His friend would have probably told him to go #$@% himself, and it would have ended there...
