You know, I've heard/seen countless women who say their goal in losing weight is to be able to wear a bikini to the beach. So if that was their goal and they've reached it, why in the hell wouldn't they post a picture showing they reached their goal. Even if not a formal goal, isn't that a universal sign of progress for most women? I mean seriously, why would you begrudge them that. Bikini or Bra & Panties = basically the same thing.

For most of us the progress we make is best shown off when we take it off so I've got no problem with guys or gals doing so in their pics. People need to be comfortable in their bodies (isn't that why most of us have made these changes, because we weren't comfortable before), and posting pics like that shows me that they're successful in that regard.

Wow.. didn't realize that people were going to be all butt hurt about the question. I just don't understand why their panties and bra.. DUH, I know there isn't much difference between a swimsuit and undergarments but it just seems that putting on a swimsuit would be a little more classier.. I don't think my husband would like me posting pictures of my body in lingerie(some a bit transparent :/ - of course the men love it) on a public site but whatever. To each their own I guess... To the lady who said "Coming from someone who doesen't even have a profile pic of themselves up. Mmmmmmkay...If you don't like it, don't look at it. " First of all I don't have a profile picture b/c I am hardly ever on here anymore (I had some up last year - and they were shots of my progress with form fitting clothes- yes you could see the progress)... Secondly the only reason I had seen it was because I was looking at fitness program results and recommendations and pictures of people in their undies popped up - I certainly wasn't looking to find it... Had I known this topic would have blown up the way it did, I wouldn't have asked. Congrats to the people who are confident enough to show it off like that, I just don't think its necessary. Over it...

The only way to see true results is to wear undies (guys lets see more pics!) or a bikini in before and after pics. I could wear a tight t-shirt but you're not going to see any ab definition. If I wear shorts you won't be able to see my thighs. Heck, part of the reason why I'm doing this is so I can wear a bikini again! Don't be such a L7

So, people did not agree with you and you got all butthurt.....typical really.

ETA: you said nothing about wearing a bikini instead - you suggested shorts and a rolled up t-shirt which implies you think either underwear or a bikini are 'tacky' in your words. A lot of people work hard on their muscles - you cannot show them off properly with clothes covering them.

Progress photos from June 2011 to last winter.

June 2011 - 135 lbs. February 2012 - 133 lbs. Same clothes, and I look about the same.

    before-after-jeans.jpg

    But in less clothing...

    camo-suit-front-june-jan.jpg

    camo-suit-back-june-jan.jpg

And that's why people like progress photos in minimal clothing. If it weren't for those photos, I would have thought I had no progress from June to January/February. The scale hadn't moved much. My clothes fit pretty much the same. But my bum raised, my arms slimmed, my stomach got flatter, my waist got a little smaller, my thighs got tighter, my back got more muscular, etc.

Personally, I'd rather take photos in a bikini than underwear, but not everyone owns a bikini. Not everyone has a need for one or an opportunity to wear one. I went about 10 years without owning a swimsuit. Didn't have a pool. Didn't go to a pool. Didn't go to the beach or a water park. Didn't tan. What would the point be in having one?
  • Perhaps we should warn for bra and panties pictures in the header. That way people who are offended don't have to look, and the rest of us who don't care can go ahead.

For the record, I took a set of pictures today in a bra which covers more than a bikini top would, and a pair of skin-tight bike shorts.

This is a prime example of if you have nothing nice to say dont say anything at all - and as for you didnt know it would blow up like it did i find that to be a ridiculous quote i reckon you knew exactly what would happen when you say negative things about people posting photos of their progress - just out of intrest when you go to the beach do you wear a wetsuit to cover up and not be tacky ? I think your comments have actually stemed from jealousy as i reckon you arent happy enough with your body to post pictures like that and for that reason i actually pity you x

i'm jealous as hell over anyone who looks good in a bikini! LOL but i'd never tell them NOT to wear one or call them tacky because i don't look good in one. instead i'm actually trying to change my body so i become one of those people that i'm jealous of!

i have bra and panties pics on my profile (i'd post them just because, but i don't know how). but really, there have been worse pic of me on the internet. ;)

I'm so glad you posted this on such a stupid thread!! This is exactly what I was thinking about as soon as I read the OP. Bare minimum shows the REAL results. Anyone can buy spanks to look thinner in clothes but this...this is proof!!

    This.. agree!
Why are you letting it bother you? I think good on them for having the confidence to show off the hard work they have done. I don't have that confidence yet and I always, think, wow! Look how great they are doing! I don't care what they are wearing or not wearing. But that's just my opinion.
