Attn. all Pitbull type owners!
ive been getting emails and texts all morning alerting me that HALLOWEEN 2012 is going to be national kill a pitbull day. people are supposed to throw tainted treats in pitbull containing yards and hand them out to pitties that are trick or treating with families. even if its nothing, please keep your pups safe. you never know what kind of psychos are running around.

This rumor goes around every year. It's the same for black cats. If people are sick enough to do anything like that, they probably won't wait til Halloween0

Where did you find this? I have searched and not seen anything. This is a horrible rumor to perpetuate, as good as your intentions might be.
Snopes has nothing, and when I google that terrible phrase, all I get is National Pitbull Awareness day, as it should be. If you're going to post something so inflammatory, back it up with facts and resources. Shame on you.0 -

I hear stuff like this working at a vet office every week, the likelihood of there being an actual day dedicated to killing just pits is slim to none, to be honest. Moral of the story is- you should protect your animals all the time!0

Although this is probably a hoax, it's a good reminder to keep your pets safely secured indoors at Halloween.
There are teenagers who will create all sorts of mischief if animals are easily accessible. It's also easy for a dog or cat to escape with the frequent opening of your door and/or gates as trick-or-treaters come to your house. Many dogs are also accidentally sickened because they get into the treats and decorations while their owners are distracted by visitors.
I'd also recommend that you test-drive any costumes you're considering for your pets. I am generally not one to dress up the dog, but I tried a costume on her once. Within 10 minutes she was very agitated so I removed the costume. If I'd waited until the kids showed up at the door, the added excitement of the doorbell, the treats and the oddly-dressed children could have resulted in her fleeing out the door or snapping at someone.0 -

A nigerian prince told me about this in an email.0 -
I don't know of any such rumours but be warned, every year I hear of people's pets being hurt. especially cats. Young lads tying fireworks to their tails and setting them alight. Even if it is not Halloween this type of behaviour happens all the time so be on watch anyway.
It's despicable how some people treat animals and think of them as nothing more then something they can harass or treat cruelly!!
Every day this happens not just halloween, just take a look at dogs trust website or RSPCA on the animals profiles. I know it's not right to seek revenge but if anyone hurt my lil' defenceless doggie I would kill them!!!
Well maybe a bit of an over reaction but I bet many of you would totally agree with me.
FINES OR JAIL FOR THOSE WHO HURT ANIMALS!!! :explode:0 -
This seem to be just a rumor but anyway you should teach your 4 legged friends to eat just the food you are offering them and anything else, neither in the yard or outside. There are a lot of mean people (let's call them people) that simply hate any living being.
Teaching this till now kept safe my dogs. It is not any kind of harsh training just teach them since puppies to eat only on command.
It is not easy and requires patience and a very good relationship with your pet but it is worth!
Several years ago I found my elder dog guarding a ball of meat with some wire in it so that his puppies will no be trying to eat it. He was the father of my two dogs with whom I am sharing life right now). Just found him like this in the morning showing me that piece of meat.0 -
Don't forget to strike fear into parents and grandparents with the risk of razor blades in apples this Halloween.
Also, a friend of a friend woke up in a bathtub filled with ice and his kidney missing!0 -
Haha, sounds like someone likes generating hype.
It would be national kill-an-idiot day if anyone walked within a mile of my house even THINKING this might be a good idea.0 -
google it .... seems to be coming from some idiot on youtube either way ive always been sure to put all my animals up early on halloween just in case!0
