how many pounds before anyone noticed?

10 pounds. i'm short so even 5 pounds makes a huge difference. honestly i hadn't really noticed myself, just that my clothes fit a little better.0

I had someone notice at 15 pounds lost.
Then someone else at 20 pounds.
Both of these people hadn't seen me in a while though. The people that I see daily haven't commented yet or noticed anything. I'm down 23lbs, my clothes aren't extremely loose or anything so I don't expect any comments for probably another 20 pounds.
Fine with me, I still have about 40 pounds to lose. :laugh:0 -
I'm down 24 from my highest weight, haven't heard a peep yet.0

Shoot. If you are now 30+ pounds lighter than before, I would have definitely noticed. Boo to the person that said that to you. It's not like you're "not supposed" to eat anything.0

I am down 40 pounds and besides family and people who were already told I'd lost weight, not a single person has noticed. It's okay, it will happen.0

I'm 5'10" and gone from about 178 to 164 and I don't really notice anything and no one has said anything! booo0

I say it just depends on your overall size and build. For me, it took 40 lbs for people to actually notice a difference. I have a small bone frame and it seemed to take quite a bit of weight for anyone to see a difference. I'm now 50-ish (a little over) lbs lost and trying to build more muscle.0

I lost over 100 lbs before people noticed/said anything. I went from a size 22 to a size 4. You think that kind of loss is noticeable but apparently not.0

35 pounds. Sadly it took that long. But I have over 100 lbs to lose so that might be a factor.0

Around 25-30 pounds (10%) before a few friends started noticing it. After about 40 pounds (15%) people who it was REALLY none of their business started making comments.
It's a touchy subject though so I think a lot of people even if they notice don't say anything, especially if they're not sure. I've been asked "You look different.... new glasses?" at 55 pounds lost just because they notice SOMETHING is different but can't figure out what.
I personally make it a point never to comment on someone's weight unless I know for a fact they are attempting weight loss because I hate the culture that assumes just because someone is fat they MUST be trying to lose weight, and I hate the assumption that "you've lost weight" MUST be a compliment. The comment I appreciated most from anyone was someone who first asked if I was losing weight on purpose, and then congratulated me on accomplishing something I set out to achieve.0 -

got my first comments at 25 lbs.0

I've always heard you have to lose about 10% of your weight before people start noticing, and this has held true for me in the past. Normally, around 30 lbs people start noticing for me.0

It was about 25 lbs but I'm 5'10" so it also works the other way too. I have to gain about 20-25 lbs before people notice!!!0
-
I've always heard about 10% of body weight lost before most people begin to notice. It seems to hold true in my life.0

I'm so happy I started this. Y'all do look great. <-- I'm from NC y'all Is a word! I'm proud of every one
of you and keep up the good work!0 -
People are always telling me I've lost weight, even when I've gained. I don't know if they just wish I would lose weight so it's like wishful thinking on their part or if my weight fluctuates so much it makes me look different all the time. OR could be the clothes I wear. Weird. I think sometimes people don't say anything because they are afraid (for who knows why) that they will offend you or hurt your feelings... Maybe you just work/hang with some oblivious peeps!0

My friends are mostly male, they wouldn't notice if I shaved off all my hair.0
-
I have gotten three weight loss comments this week...13lbs down...under five ft so it shows a bit faster on me.0
-
I've lost 15lbs and no one has noticed, my husband says I look better, he is the only person who knows I am trying to lose weight.0
-
Here is my take. In the world we live in people are afraid to offend so unless I know they have lost weight I do not ask just the same as telling someone congrats on being pregnant only to find out they aren't. Don't take it personally and know you are making these changes for yourself to grace the world with your presence for many years to come.0

I lost 30+ pounds and no one noticed. Then I lost no more weight for three months and began working out. Even though my weight didn't change, everyone noticed once my actual body fat percentage started dropping (I assume I was losing lean muscle along with fat when I originally lost).0

Ignore rude co-workers !! I have confided in a couple of mine that I am trying to lose and they are so supportive of my efforts. Many will notice a loss but won't say. 18lbs is a great achievement !0
