    Good morning superheros

And what a good morning it is. Yesterday I was 207 (down 2 pounds for my weekly weigh-in) and this morning I was 206.75!!! YEAH!!! TWIRLS!!! I am not sure what I am doing but I must be doing it right. Thank goodness DH is supportive. I had 400 extra calories to eat last night - I really wanted to have a shoot of scotch but DH encouraged me to have something healthy - goat cheese and crackers and dark chocolate jello pudding won (*sigh*). He was right, one shot would have lead to 2 and then I wouldn't have been thinking straight and would have raided the cabinet for munchies. That's why we have to call it a lifestyle change. I can't go back to my old habits.

I need to go get a morning workout in - we are going out for dinner. If I have enough calories left, maybe I'll get steak instead of a salad. Have a SUPER day.

    Good Morning, My Heroettes..
I weighed in today at 228 with all my clothes on, and I'm confused as to if I should -1 lb or -2 lbs for the clothes? What do you's think?
But I am feeling good, Happy Friday! After work I will treat myself to an eyebrow wax.. Desperately needed.. and I am taking a few hours to myself tomorrow minus children to go & buy some nice bras.. I don't even know my correct size, So I may hit up Victoria's secret and buy 1.. I will buy more when I loose more weight...
Hope everyone has a good weigh in!

nikki - it depends what you are wearing. My bra and panties weigh 1/4 lb. If you are in short sleeves and light pants - say 1 pound. If it's long sleeves and heavy pants - say 2 lbs. If it's a sweat shirt and jeans, maybe 3 lbs. Good luck.

Great job Pinbot and NIkki!! Way to carry the torch for the team.

My weigh in: 214.2 (+2.4 this week)

let's all have a moment of silence while kristina weeps.

Okay... to tell you the truth, my scale was saying 216 yesterday, so this is better than it could have been, but it's still super ugly. I must recommit myself this week. The exercise has been going fine the whole time.... the only thing I can think is before I was usually doing an hour on the elliptical the 4-5 times a week I'd been going to the gym, and now 3 of those days i'm doing c2k + 30 min of elliptical, which because i'm early in the training is not burning as many calories. *shrug*

I can't slack on the weekends like I have been the past couple of weeks. This is a three-day weekend for me, so I need to stick with it. I think the rec center is closed on Monday, but I plan on going Sat and Sun. Today is day 3 of week 2 of c2k, as I got off a day this week. I want to get back on sun/tues/thur schedule next week.

Also, i seriously need to put the kabosh on snacking. A little bit here and there I think is really adding up.

But I seriously Feel as though if I loose 20 lbs, I will look a hell of a lot better.. and I don't wanna get too skinny.. My original goal was 180 (pre baby 1) so hmm, I will just have to wait & see..
Oh & btw, I looove free weights! I have to buy 8 pounders this weekend casue even though I get a tremendous burn with a few excercises, I want to do 8lbs.. 3 still doesn't feel like enough...

    Here's my moment of silence ______________________ .

I think I read in a post some where that when you change exercise styles, it takes you body a few weeks to adjust to the new routine and that the new muscles you are building may hold some water. Hopefully this is the case Kristina. In week 7 of C25K I am burning 75% more calories than in the first few weeks (200 vs 370) according to the treadmill. I hope things even out for you.

Congrats on the weight loss nikki.

Good luck debra :flowerforyou: It's only a number and not as important as how you feel inside.

    Last week 239.6
    Today 240.0

I'm pretty sure some of this has to do with the salt-laced soup I had for dinner last night. (another consequence of living with my parents again...it was really good vegetable soup but it had sausage in it and it was incredibly salty) My calories have been ok this week but I went over on sodium a couple days. I'm getting back in my house for the weekend so I'm thinking I'll make one of my recipes that I've really missed and eat on it all weekend. Now I can't decide whether I want to make chili mac or black bean quesadillas

oh yeah....zumba kicked my *kitten* last night! It was great! except there was a group of 4 teenage girls who got there late and talked during the whole class. And the one beside me didn't wear deoderant and I had to keep moving away from her cause 1) she smelled bad and 2) she was about to hit me cause she was so uncoordinated she about hit me every time we did a sideways move.

I'm back and glad to report 1 1/2 pounds lighter than last week. I got a good workout in and I also decided to check my tummy measurement (that is my worst trouble spot) and I lost 1 inch off my tummy in the last month!! Woo, hoo...I'm not dropping a lot of big numbers weekly but I am getting smaller, so that is good.....

Blombie, I have a friend that does Zumba and she just loves it....I'm not real quick to pick up on things that's why I usually frail around in the living room!

Thanks for the motivation this morning super heros....I might of skipped exercise had I not been motivated by your posts!

Congrats on the loss Debra. Losing inches is always great too.

blombie - have fun in your home this weekend.

I am off work early and trying to decide if I should try running outside - it's 35 and the side of the roads are still icy. But, I really want to try running on the pavement vs the treadmill. Tomorrow afternoon we are going to watch "Outhouse Races" in Mackinaw. It should be funny.

Debra, great job! Like pinbot said, losing inches can really make a difference. You're just tightening everything up! Slow and steady wins the race!

I'm off in not too long... took a field trip with a coworker today which helped the afternoon go by quickly. Will head to the rec center for c2k training. Eating has gone well today. Just need to continue to do so this evening. I need to start thinking about a recipe for this week. Maybe a soup. I could just defrost the soup I made a couple of weeks ago. Hrm.

Any plans for the holiday weekend? I get Monday off, but I know not everyone does. I just plan on catching up on some sleep, relaxing, and I have a concert on Saturday in Detroit that I'll go to. Will plan to work out both days this weekend and take Monday off a a complete rest day. Must keep the eating in check though. If I can do that this week, I"ll be curious to see what my number is by weigh in next week. Hopefully down a good few!!

WOW - running/power walking outside with mini hills and 35 degrees is much harder than the treadmill. I managed to get 2 miles in 26 min. I had to do lots of power walking to catch my breath in the cold. Next time, I am wearing a scarf over my mouth to warm the air. I don't know how you do it debra - kudos to you  I think I have earned the steak dinner tonight. I have a 3rd workout planned for 6 tonight with my mom before dinner.

cds... don't worry... you'll get unstuck!!

pinbot, 3rd workout of the day? i bow down to your aerobic prowess. plus the fact that you ran outside in this weather. brrrr!

I just got back from the gym. did day 3 of week 2 of c2k. I tell you... i seriously don't know if i'll make it on week 3. 3 minutes of running? i'm barely making it through the 90 seconds this week. How did my other c2k-ers do it?

Quick check in wishing everyone a great weekend....I totally crashed yesterday after my shower.....maybe burning a 1000 calories a day is just crazy talk:laugh:   , I did do it every day except Thursday, on that day I ran and burnt 800 for the day...

Pinbot, when I ran on Thursday....I was extremely slow....I ran for 44 minutes and the miles were just a little over 3.3....so it must have to do with the slick roads...and the chill. I know when we first left, my running pal Bella (lab/mix) was so excited to get started she hit the dirt road and slid right across it, I was pretty careful after that.....we just need some Spring weather for some more spring in our step:laugh:   , even with a headache....I try to be funny! I think 2 miles in 26 minutes is terrific!

Aka, you can do it!!!!:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: ...just tell those legs they have no option but to keep moving, breathe through the moment and before you know it. it will become a great feeling. When I first started I ran with my husband (whom is in great shape..bah!!) and I couldn't even run for 1 minute....he would slow down, but he wouldn't let me stop....actually he was a little snooty about it...( a loving snooty) but still snooty, I started out running for 2 miles...I didn't know to ease into it....I say after about a month I realized...hey, I'm doing this and it's not killing me, that really excited me...and I would say I'm still pretty big to be pounding on these legs and I always feel fabulous when I am finished running...this last run, for the 44 minutes straight was my longest ever...the distance wasn't real great, but I felt great the rest of the day, I think I appreciate it so much because it was so hard for me to do at the beginning:bigsmile: Keep at it, you can do it!!!

CDS, keep at it!!!!!:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: , I wonder if your eating enough? I only ask because I had a period where I stopped losing and until just recently when I began eating more did the scale start moving again.....I also wanted to answer a question you asked earlier in the week...about exercise and fun being said together......if you could see in my living room as I am trying to be sensual at 4 AM while doing a shimmy with Blanca by dvd instructor.......let me tell you....you'd be losing it!!  , I love a good laugh, even if it is sometimes at myself!

Debra, burning 1000 calories a day is a pretty impressive goal. Definitely don't feel bad for burning 800 calories! I don't think I could do that!

Today went well for me. No crappy eating last night or today, though I might treat myself to a glass of wine or two tonight, as I have some room in my calories. I didn't go to the rec center today, BUT, have no fear... i did work out. I got two dancing dvds in the mail today, one was the dance with julianne from dancing with the stars... which I don't watch (so you think you can dance is my guilty pleasure), but after seeing the commercial for it over and over again at the gym, I finally bowed down and bought it. It wasn't expensive. I got another dancing with the stars one too which I might do on Monday. Anyways, I took dance many a year ago, but obviously have a lot more weight to fling around now. I was both impressed and intimidated by her body, and thought I might hate her, but she was actually quite enjoyable and silly during the workout, and i sweat like there was no tomorrow! I don't know how many calories I burned, but I was definitely working. I did the 12 minute tutorial and then the 45 min dance, which is actually three separate ones.. cha-cha, jive, and paso. Really enjoyed myself. REALLY will need to keep practicing cause I looked a hot mess and know I wasn't doing everything correctly. Anyways, I think it'll be fun to add my my repetoire days I don't want to cardio it up at the gym.

Hope everyone's weekend is going well!!

ugh! i ate badly yesterday....but stayed under my calories. but, damn that wine tasted good.
my goal for this week is to stay super close to my calorie level. i think i come in under too much. we'll see.

Running is so hard, and i love allt he motivation here, as i've been contemplating giving up. Still, two mile is two miles, and if i cant do it every day...who cares. I don't run fast either..so deb made me feel better on that one. some days it's 5.0....but most of the time im around 4.0 or 4.5. either way, my butt is still moving.
    here's to a great day!!

I am getting ready to try running outside again. It's a wonderful 35 degrees here. I hope to go about 2 miles. I went over on my calories by about 250 yesterday. Wish me luck this week as I try to meet one of my New Year's goals - trying to eat vegetarian for 1 week (I will have dairy, cheese and eggs but no fish, pork, beef, elk or whatever else is in the freezer.) It should be nice challenge. My husband has already offered to go to the health food store (an hour away) to get me tofu sandwich and falafel. Kudos to DH.

cds - you can run jog with me anytime - that's my speed 4.5 to 5 mph. Keep at it. Running is burning calories.

aka - remember that running is mental more than physical. You can do it. One the first day, slow the treadmill down to 4.5 or even 4 if needed. Then work to get to full 3 min at 5.0 by the end of the week. If I did it, you can. Breathing in deeply through the nose and slowly out the mouth helps me when I start to struggle for breath. I had to do this the whole last 5 min when it came to the 25 min run. The dancing sounds like fun. I keep eyeing up the Zumba DVDs since Blombie likes it so much.

debra - I hear you on the slick roads. At least I live in a pretty rural area and don't have much traffic during the day. The edges of the road are icy so I kept crossing the street when traffic was coming.

cds, i'm glad you're sticking with it! the motivation here really helps me as well. you'll get unstuck!

pinbot, good luck with the veggie for a week goal. i've been a vegetarian for just over 10 years now and haven't looked back! there are lots of choice foods to eat.

well ladies, i made it through the first day of running for 3 minutes. I had a good tune mix I created and instead of running at 5.0, i started at 4.0, and by 2 minutes in, it was at 4.3. Through the week, I'll continue to crank it up hopefully closer and closer to 5.0. This wasn't bad at all at a slower speed. 5.0 is pretty fast for me, as I'm pretty uncoordinated and I have super short legs, so they're moving pretty quickly.

i made it through my weight hump. As I've mentioned before, on the weekends I always weigh less, and that seems to be when the weight drops off. the rest of the week seems to be maintaining that. I don't know why that is the case... I'm eating well, but I'm also weighing in later in the day, as I've slept in. More time to digest? Not complaining! So yeah, Friday I was 214.2... this morning? 210.6! I knew a lot of that gain last week was bloat, but whoa! *twirls* so close to single digits!

aka - great job on the run. I ran outside today and concetrated on slowing down so that I could run the whole time. It took 28 min to make my 2 miles but I could have held a conversation. It felt so good to be outside. Week 7 is done. Week 8 is 28 min runs... I can do it.

aka - maybe your body sheds pounds as you relax without the stress of work on the weekend.

aka - here is site that you may want to checkout. http://www.runmichigan.com/calendar/ It lists all of the runs in the Michigan area. You will be running strong too in no time.

    Good morning everyone,

I am getting ready for another busy day. I am going to be lost since my mom is going downstate for the week - I will have to self motivate to keep up the evening workouts. Day 1 of vege eating went well. I rediscovered peanut butter and jelly - it just hit the spot as a nice afternoon snack. I made 2 soups to last the week and made some hard boiled eggs for protein. I'm thinking baked potato with cheese and broccoli for dinner. Maybe I better go eat some breakfast - I seem to be obsessing over food. Tomorrow I am getting to the big city to a real grocery store - any suggestions on what to buy?

Good morning, a very busy weekend, and this house is a mess..i need to get moving but I'm not wanting too!!

Pinbot, great job on your runs..your putting me to shame, i keep letting things get in my way...the weather is supposed to be nice this week, I'm going to try to get out twice and run...if I don't, please get on me!

aka, love that you lost more...good for you, I usually go up a little on the weekend:grumble:

I'm interested in eating vegan...but I love my chicken....not sure I could give that up....I have heard tofu is wonderful and takes on what ever flavor you pair it with, I've looked at it a couple of times in the store and thought ....Yuck, what do you do with this, to me doesn't look very appealing.....

Good luck this week...I'm going to try to cut back the sugars, which hopefully will help with this sweet tooth of cravings I have going on yesterday and today even so far!

Eating vegetarian isn't very hard. I try to eat several vegan meals a week as well, but I love real cheese too much to give up dairy and egg products completely! My snacks of the moment are fresh cut veggies and hummus. Trader Joe's original hummus is my favorite. it's not quite as creamy (aka tons of olive oil) as other brands, and it's pretty cheap compared to them as well. Definitely recommend. Also, wasa crackers with a wedge of laughing cow (light herb and garlic) is a favorite snack.

I could never get into tofu. If it's in something, I'll eat it. You're right... it does take on the flavor of whatever it is cooked in, but the consistency of it is what I have a problem with. I'm a fan of tempeh, which also takes on much of the taste of what it's cooked in, but has more of a nutty, grainy texture and taste. Definitely recommend!

There are a lot of hearty yummy veggie soups to make as well, and they are almost always low calorie as long as they're broth based. Substitute veggie broth for chicken broth, but try to find a low sodium version, cause canned broths are usually teeming with sodium like whoa.

I love having today off! Got to sleep in, the weight has held from yesterday, woo! The rec center is closed today, and I might do an exercise video at home, but I told myself I would give myself a day of rest if I wanted to. Hope you all are well!

as the roomies left for dinner, I felt comfortable enough to do a dvd in the living room. I know i look completely idiotic doing cardio ballroom, but I sweated like whoa again, and had lots of fun doing. still need a lot of work to get the moves down correctly though!

feeling super proud of myself for eating well and working out every day this long weekend, and the scale liked me! i also made meals and lunches for the rest of the week, so I should be good through the weekend! Tomorrow is day 2 of week 3 of c2k. Hope to pump up the speed a bit from last time. Perhaps this time instead of starting at 4.0 and increasing to 4.2, starting at 4.2, then increasing to 4.5? We'll see!

    Let's keep it up gals!
  • Can i join the group too? I have a goal by June this year to around 180 pounds. I started last June around 260 , im currently 230 . What is everyone doing? How many calories and excercise?

welcome val:flowerforyou: We generally weigh-in on Fridays and currently have a weight loss challenge for Valentine's Day. Most of us chose 10 lbs. I currently weight 207, have my goals set for 1 pound loss, MFP says eat 1510 cal/day but with exercise I generally eat 1600 to 1800 cal. It's wonderful that you have been able to take 30 pounds off and maintain it. Do you know what you weighed on Jan 1st? Look for the new thread on Thurs night or Friday mornings.

blombie - all this talk about Zumba. It sounds so fun. I broke down and ordered a book/DVD. aka might have had something to do it since she's been having so much fun dancing around the living room

Day 2 of vege eating went well. I worked all day and almost didn't exercise last night. I finally got home at 7:45pm and decided that I should do something. I managed to get in 30 min of low impact aerobics - it's better than nothing. I was going to wait until this afternoon to do my c25k training but we got 2 inches of snow last night :grumble: I may as well go get on the treadmill this morning. I am thinking of dropping the speed from 5 to 4.5 for day 1 of week 8.

deb - glad your feeling a little better. Thank goodness I don't have migraines. Calling the doctor to get in before May is a great idea. I realize I may have picked that up from another post :blushing:

aka - I can tol tofu but tempeh is much better. Walmart sells a firmer tofu that I like better than squishy brands. I have tried laughing cow cheese but the flavor I have is pretty bland. I really like goat cheese flavors better - stronger feta like taste. I think pasta with olive oil and Parmesan will work for dinner. Tomorrow, I will make a vegetable mixture to put over rice - if I can find zucchini and eggplant at the grocery store tonight. Grilled portabella mushroom sandwich for Fri. Wow the week will be over Sat. I figured I would be more creative if I gave up the old standbys for a week. I am off to have my greek yogurt and get on the treadmill.

    gOOD mORNING Ladies!
Hope you all had a good long weekend.. My eating was off the rocker... Friday night I killed it with french fries.. And the rest of the weekend was a dud, I have company and just couldn't grab a hold of myself... But yesterday, I got back in check.. I bought this awesome digital scale with a tempered glass bottom.. ooohh it makes my bathroom look better too! lol~
I weighed on it Sunday night as soon as I got it home.. it said to me :you are 234 FATTY!: So I weighed an hour later, only cause I loved it so much, it said Your 232 FATTY!! Haha, So yesterday morning I woke up and weighed in.. 229.. Not bad considering I ate so horribly... Then before I got dressed this morning, The scale said I was 227! So I'm up 1 lb from friday.. my goal for the week is to get to 225...
Hope we all have a good week!!
