This made my entire day, I laughed so hard. Cause it's true!
However, I'm just now finishing the first book and am moving onto the second.

I tried to read the free sample on my kindle and I couldn't make it through that! It was poorly written and the characters were flat and boring...plus it sounded like something just anyone with a computer could write. I'd rather use my time on something that I'd enjoy!

My wife read it and said: "George Lucas writes better dialog and love scenes".

I don't think there is any "reading" involved in Fifty Shades... it's more like infant pictograph recognition.

I think this is is my favorite response.

Thinking of writing my own version called 50 shades of gravy....:-)
  • I started reading it and it was a little to much for me the guy seems a little to controling
so pretty much a waste of 10 dollars
  • I kept hearing people go on and on about this book, but for the longest time didn't realize what it was until I took a trip to BAM. I noticed a copy on the 'best seller' stack, pulled it down and read a few passages.

That was when I muttered an 'OH DEAR!' and lit up like a Christmas tree. That's about as much as I've ever read and probably will ever read. Won't knock the book though.
  • nope..

    Honestly, it's madness.

I think it was the fact that my stepmother said "oh it's so dirty! It's like porn! You should read it, you can borrow my Kindle!"

All I could think was.. Yeah, I don't know if I want to touch your Kindle knowing that. I'll pass on your girly book.

I will not be reading it. I have heard from too many trusted friends that it really sucks and the writing is horrible.

You're not alone, I've heard the grammar is like that of a 10 year old, which puts me off long before the incredibly silly 'mommy porn' content!

Good bad or indifferent writing, I have no interest in reading the book.

I AM ONE OF THE FEW MOMS I KNOW WHO HAVENT READ IT.

I haven't read that either, but not because it's dirty. I just have a problem that when everyone reads some book I don't feel like reading it. Same reason I haven't read Harry Potter.

People talk about it too much, so I don't want to hear about it anymore.

50 Shades of Potter was terrible.
  • At my work place the ladies are absolutely obsessed with it. I, on the other hand, have never read it also. LoL. idk with all this hype I might be tempted to pick one up and read it lol

Oh, please don't lump those together! I don't want to think about Ron stalking Hermione and telling her what to eat all the time.

I tried to read it just to be "in the know" with the trend, but, honestly, the writing sucked, so I cast it aside for a better book.
  • my friend Petukh III read it and said he liked it. i couldnt get past the first page.:glasses:
  • I've not read it and don't care to, either. And, I like to read. But, I prefer mystery and/or horror or comedy, even romantic comedies, but eh at the soft core porn.

No desire to read it. Wouldn't buy it and certainly wouldn't check it out at the library!!! YUCK!!

I was supposed to read Twilight and 50 Shades for my bookclub. I think in both series I spent more time throwing the books across the room than reading them. I don't get either.

Also, my mom's urban fantasy novels and regancy romances had more steamy sex scenes than 50 Shades. I don't get what is so shocking about them.
  • I've never read it, but everyone keeps telling me to read it because they couldn't put it down. Haven't decided if I want to try it out or not.

I sat down and tried to read it, got a few pages in and couldn't stop laughing. You're not missing anything.

Same thing happened to me the first time I saw Terminator 3.
  • LOL No...You are not the only one. I bought all 3 (stupidly) and only got to chapter 8 on the first book. I looking to sell all 3 now. Not my cup of tea as they say. The hype was better then the books

the reviews on Amazon are even better

Nope, not interested in them at all - again, not because of the sexual content but because they got such a slating for the quality of the writing. I am not a sheep and will not be following the herd just because a lot of other people are. Jaysus, if you want simmering passion and good writing get yourself a Thomas Hardy or Wuthering Heights, if you want to read trash then buy Jordan's books.
  • DO NOT READ IT.
Don't even get me started on it. I haven't read it, but I've read excerpts, and it's AWFUL. The porn is so miserably written it's not even funny.
On top of that, it promotes an UNSAFE BDSM lifestyle. The main characters' relationship isn't BDSM, it's more of sexual abuse.

There is better, free porn literature on the internet, that's all I'm gonna say.
