So i've got to lose 20 pounds in 3 weeks due to a work assessment, i don't have to ...but i'm giving up 300 bucks in January if i don't.

Anyways, i am going to do the Dukan Diet until then and then just start eating better and exercising (i've never been one to like the idea of a diet).

My point in the post, who has done this diet before and what were your results? I know it works bc i have seen it in action with friends, it works WONDERS. I'm just curious of some of your results??

I know tons of people that diet at work. The Hcg diet got them quick results probably because they could only eat 500 calories a day. They had a hard time sticking with it long term though. A lot of people just reduce calories and exercise more which they seem to maintain longer. Never known anyone who has done the Dukan diet though.

There is a thread for Dukan diet that has some posts on it. I tried it, but was to able to stick with it once I had to start once again cooking for my family. But, the two weeks I was on it, were very good. I am now on my own modified diet where I am not eating PP and PV but I am aware of carbs and I try not to eat them as much as I did before. I don't know about 20 lbs in 3 weeks. But the results are fast.

    Thanks everyone!

I definitely don't plan for this to be my "life changing" diet as it is something you have to continuously do. I am basically just using it as a jumpstart and then will progress to just eating healthier in general to maintain :)

My coworker lasted about 2 weeks on it. She lost 10lbs....which is pretty amazing considering her pipes got clogged. She finally took herself off it because she was bored with the food choices and was in desperate need of giving birth to her food baby.

I am a little unsure about the results of this diet. I know that people can shed weight quite quickly, but they will probably put it back on once they start eating carbohydrates again. Also, the idea of not eating fruits or vegetables (or at least in very small quantities) makes me quite wary. Eating clean might work better for the long term... (basically don't eat processed stuff and try to eat protein and complex carbs in similar quantities... ex. breakfast: 7 egg whites and 1/3 cup of steel cut oats, midmorning: banana and a small can of tuna, lunch: 4 oz chicken over 4 cups leafy greens, midafternoon: 1 cup carrot sticks and 20 almonds, supper: 4 oz steak with 1 cup sweet potato and 1 cup steamed mixed veg... )... that way of eating seems to have the best sort of results long term but makes sure that people get all their nutrients. And include dairy and dairy alternatives in their too if you are eating this way long term.

It jump started my weight loss. Used it for 12 pounds before MFP and then I stuck to straight calorie counting. Weight loss was slowed greatly after I moved off of it (not the initial water weight one may gain after upping carbs again, this lasted months) and then I tried a high fat, low carb diet and realized that was the best way for me to lose weight.

Now it's more about health than the number on the scale. When you make the mental shift from scale obsession to "wow, I feel better," you'll know you've found something sustainable. Well, at least that's how it worked for me :)

I did this diet once before and lost 10 pounds over 10 days (it really works!), but it was not possible for me to stick to it and I gained the weight back. Simply using MFP is producing much better long term results for me. Good luck!

    Hiya,

I was on the dukan diet and lost 13 kg, if you stick to the 4 stages then you will not put the weight back on, you end up eating normally again. My weight fluctuated between 2 kg but I'm happy with the results now. This diet is not for everyone and it is harsh in the beginning but if you looking for a quicker fix, then look no futher. Be warned this diet will make you very tired, eat enough calories even if you don't feel like it otherwise you feel exhausted.
    Hope this helps

I think all these diets are a bad idea!in the long ru a step back from the table and step out in the road is the only way to weight loss!

It's a really famous diet in France but I wouldn't recommend it. I know it works, it really does, but you can very easily put all the weight back on. My mom did it for quite a long time and now, she's overweight again. I tried to do it for a week a couple of years ago and almost fainted in the subway (but I'm a vegetarian so it was a stupid decision to make, it was my own fault). Also, it is a very criticized diet because it's not good for your health. But if you want to do it only for 3 weeks, why not? But make sure you don't go longer and that you start eating healthy when you stop!

I think that a guy ( Dukan ) that said you can`t eat honey 'cause is a "stolen" food from bees is a little insane, no ?

I've done the DUNKIN or DRUNKEN but unfortunately never the Dukan. The first two actually made me gain.

I am doing the Dukan - its a pretty simple plan to follow once your on to it. I have little time to get to the gym after work and this plan works for me.
I play soccer once a week in a charity league, but that about all the activity I get. I now down 33lbs in 12 weeks form what I am eating.
    It has worked for me.

Dunkan diet is not designed for a quick weight loss. Its not a 3 weeks thing and then all you can eat buffet. Its a system of living and eating. It's important to actually read Dr. Ducan's book on it before making any assumptions. Its a 4 stage system and you have to follow it. You can't be on it for a week and then eat 12 donuts. That ridiculous. First of. The first stage which only last 2 to 7 days is a pure protein. Yes you drop weight quirky..but don't forget most of it is water weight and due to nor carbs pretty much. Dukan wants you do it because it give you that start jumt and motivation wot follow the diet. Then, you HAVE to follow with stage 2.. where you can eat as much vegetable as you want. And BTW…there are TONS of recepes for this diet. Cakes. Crepes. Even cheesecake. All kinda of salads. Soups. You just have to cook. And it will be guaranteed to loose at least 1 to 1.5kg a week. with is 2-3lb a week. That is very healthy and good for you. My friend lost 20 lb in the first month and keeps loosing 2lb per week. IT IS NOT A FAD DIET.

I am probably way to late for this but the reason you go on a diet is because you are fat so if after you've lost weight and you put it back on you've learnt nothing because clearly you are doing exactly what made you put on weight in the first place. You are now blaming someone else for your own eating problems....
I went on Dukan Diet almost 4 years ago and lost 35kg (77Ib) and miraculously it stayed off because I didn't go back to eating the way I did before.
The diet works and the only reason it doesn't is because you don't do it properly.

It's been 2 years since OP posted this, and her ticker says 0 pounds lost. Does that tell anybody anything about these "diets"? ;) Sensible calorie deficit for the win, no need for craziness....

I tried Dukan a few years ago.

You cannot be on Dukan for a few weeks. It has 4 steps. I understand from your post is that you want to do only the first 2 steps. This will not work - you'll pack the weight back on right away, even if you eat very reasonably. The two last steps are crucial.
If you lose 20 pounds, it means that the third step (still extremely low in carbs and fat) lasts at least 90 days (i.e. 10 days for each kg lost).

If this 3-months period is too long for you, just pick another plan.

or...she realized this wasn't the site for her. Or, as she stated, it was a 3 week thing.
What do YOU know about Dukan?
  • Looking to start the Dukan diet. Excited to see how the results are.
