I am a Registered Nurse, for the past 24 years, in Women's Health. Have done Labor and Delivery, currently working in a NICU (neonatal intensive care unit). I love it, would not want to do anything else, except maybe retire, and just hang out with the family. Oh yeah, I am also a full time mother and wife, love that too, and would not trade it in, even to retire.0

I am a 3rd Party Billing Specialist working at a TRIBAL mental health and substance abuse outpatient clinic in AZ...I have been in this position for almost 15 years...started at a decent rate, and have progressed to near the top of the scale, but usually you have to start at the bottom rate...I am responsible for billing for about 30 clinicians or staff members, and usually can't keep up, everyone is constantly bringing me more to do........so there is a lot of pressure all the time...but I love it, because I KNOW I'm important and have job security...I would't give it up for the world....I got my start 22 years ago billing for oxygen in the home, hospital bed rentals, etc...then went to mental health billing (non Tribal)...actually, I am self taught...I just was given the opportunity to try and made it happen...and still at it.....0

I'm a nurse in the NICU. Wonderful job, but so mentally exhausting. Protecting babies and trying to be as honest as possible to parents without freaking them out is trying. I cannot imagine doing anything else.0

I have been a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist for the past 18 years and a Certified Diabetes Educator for the past 7 yrs...I am very passionate about what I do. I love inspiring my patients to improve their health through lifestyle changes. I work in a 2 hospital system, practising inpatient clinical nutrition with acutely ill patients and also run an outpatient medical nutr therapy and diabetes self-management program.
I would only recommend this field to someone who is both passionate about nutrition and health and willing to go to school for a long time and continue to practise lifelong learning (ie: continuing education) and not make a whole lot of money. RD's are underpaid and the work can be stressful; especially in acute care.0 -
I work with developementally challenged adults in a sheltered workshop setting. I would like to go to college next fall (at age almost 43 by then). I am seriously considering majoring in Occupational Therapy Assisting. I like my job. I do not have to work nights, weekends or major holidays but the pay is not good.
I also have a severely autistic teenager and an eighteen year old with Aspergers Syndrome (High functioning Autism). So I am looking at eight or more years of college since I will have to go part time at least at first.0 -
