Sweetened with dried dates and a touch of honey, a banana smoothie makes a quick, nutritious breakfast.

    1 cup low-fat buttermilk
2 ripe bananas, cut into 2-inch-thick rounds
    11 dried pitted dates
    1 teaspoon honey

My FAVORITE smoothie is from Cynthia Sass's Cinch! book: Chocolate Pear Ginger Smoothie.

    1 small pear, sliced
    1/4 cup rolled oats
    8 oz skim milk
1/4 cup chocolate chips (I use dark chocolate chips, and melt them in the microwave)
    1/2 teaspoon freshly grated ginger

Place the pear, oats, milk, chocolate chips, and ginger in a blender. Blend until smooth.

These sound good. I just ordered a "personal size blender" and some protein powder. This will give me a lot to try. Thanks!

I don't know how it's made, but it's banana, orange, and pineapple. I always just throw all kinds of random fruit in the blender and see what happens!

My AM smoothie is great because it gives me the caffeine boost without all the sugar:

1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder
    1/2 a frozen banana
    1 tbsp psyillum whole husk
    1 tsp ground cinnamon
4 oz vanilla coffee concentrate (I buy Cool Brew, but you can make your own with really strong coffee and freeze into cubes.)
2 oz more of water and some ice cubes.

    196 calories.
