Thought i would give a quick history of the sixers. Kristen and i started back in july/aug of 08 with a thread called 20 in 12 i believe. it was to help a girl lose 20#s before her boyfriend came home from bootcamp. she didn't make it to the end, but a few of us did. so when we decided to go on with another we changed to sixers because there was only six of us. than a few others came aboard and have stuck with us through all of our bad times. we even had a little sixer baby. so it goes to show we are here for the long haul i think.
about me: i am 50, two grown kids, two granddaughters, two dogs. i just got my real estate license in dec. i am diabetic, asthmatic, allergies. can't lose weight for $&*t lately. in fact since may it began coming on due to life's stress's and i haven't been able to get it off since. don't know if maybe it kicked something or what.
sooooo.....my story leads me into asking for your help. i am going to stay within my calories for this week and get in the exercising that my doctor wants. (he wanted me carb counting) been doing that. so changing it up. please hold me accountable to you. i am lowering my calories and only adding in 1/2 my exercise since i can burn 1000+ at the gym. which is where i am headed as soon as i get in my second cup of coffee.

K so bumping/refusing to weigh in at the moment, I weighed myself when I first woke up and it shows that I gained two pounds!!! :noway: I mean I know i went over Fri. and Sat. But I have been working out pretty darn hard, I know that I have a loss... So I am holding out for an hour or two then trying again...
Hope everyone else shows losses!!!

lula....the diabetic carbs for me is 45 each meal, 15 for the morning & afternoon snack, 30 for evening with must include a protein. this is what i did to lose the first 80 some pounds. than i quick smoking and gained 30. lost that again and was doing super good. until DH lost his job and out of work for 8 weeks, stress put back 40. haven't been able to lose it since. doctor wanted me to lose 3#s in this month doing the carb counting again. i do have bad days, but, with what i burn i still should lose something. so that is why i am challegning myself and who ever wants to join me, to stick to my calorie count and see what happens. i lost the 30 counting calories.
well, dog is whinning at me to go potty. and i need to get to the gym;

Well I guess I am the first to weigh-in 2day. I am the same 200.6 lbs.
I would love your advice on something, as I mentioned in my last post I see a nutritonist every week. I have been at it for 3 weeks & only lost during the first week, as you can imagine that really made me sad. I have been eating the same food for lunch everyday for over 3 weeks & I don't think I can do that anymore, it makes me want to cheat because there is no variaty. My mom tells me that I should stop going to the dr. & just do it on my own, EAT LESS & MOVE MORE, how hard is that?? Why can't I do it?? I pay the guy alot of money every week, if I was seeing results I wouldn't mind the money but to pay & see nothing change & eat the same food?? What do you guys think? Should I stop going to him or would that mean that I quit AGAIN?? Should I keep going, maybe give him another 2 weeks? I don't want to fail this time, I have failed so many times before. You are my support now & your advice means alot to me.

Even with the jogging, I gained 2 lbs. I'm declaring war on TOM. I hope this means I have a fantastic weigh-in next week. Maybe even a super unofficial weigh-in on Friday.
Cathy, I really do think stress has a big effect on weight loss. If you weren't working out, I would say try working out instead of emotional eating, but I think if you're already getting the benefits of exercise, and still having a hard time, maybe try a yoga class or DVD and see if you can do something to de-stress. I was having a really hard time losing weight my last two years of law school when the work really kicked up and I was working part time on top of school. Even when I had it together enough to cook right and go for some walks or jogs, I was losing weight so slowly when I was losing it at all. BUT, when I was eating right and working out, I would lose maybe 5-10 lbs in a school year. When I gave it up completely, I could put on 10-20 lbs in a few months. So, even if you're just maintaining for now until life can get a little less stressful, it's way better than gaining it all back and being even more stressed out about that.
I haven't decided yet if I'm going jogging today or just going for a walk or just doing nothing but pouting about gaining 2 lbs. Pouting burns calories, right? :laugh:

Well waiting a couple hours got over the the 2 pounds gain, but I didnt lose any! (although I also havent gone to the restroom) But I figure that I must not have lost much then... blah. This saddens me... I am hoping when I check inches later today I will see a positive change!

wow amyls and kristin, nicole you guys did a super job. be very proud of your selfs.
as for me that stress was back in late april. so like this month i have worked out 5 days a week burning over 4000 each week. over 1/2 the days eating well. i think there has been maybe 5 where i wasn't perfect. that will never happen. that's where i am so confused at. i have been trying for months now to begin. i just hang in there.
had super gym workout burned 1100. so off to shower and dress and i will be back

Whew!!! When I got on the scale this morning, I thought I had maintained until I went to update my weight in the check-in tab! In my mind I had transposed the 7 & 8. I lost almost a pound!!
My goals this week are:
Drink 9 cups water each day
LOG my food
Walk to pick up my kids today, Thurs & Fri. (as long as it's nice)
It's a beautiful day today, so as long as I leave work on time, I can walk from my house to pick them up from school.0 -

unfortunately it's just going back to the diabetic diet i lost a bunch on. so far i may have just barely lost the 3#s he wanted. i don't know what i weighed on his scale. i know it's close to mine. i haven't even lost inch's. that's what surprises me. i can put on a pair of pants and fit great. a few days to a week later i can't get them on. it's like i am ballooning. i am asking for the referral to an endro. i just keep plugging away. don't know. i do have my days were i get so frustrated. enough of me.

Amyls- Great job on your frist week. You sure are on top of it!! Yep that bandage got me through the workout yesterday but by the end of the day I wanted to scream my toe hurt so bad from walking around. So I will work out early again today.
Amylou- Great job on your loss this past week. I start level 3 in a couple of days. I am kind of looking forward to doing it. Did you do the full 30 days?

Hey Ladies! I am going to weigh in Wed. morning... I wasn't at home today so no chance to check the scale... I hope I am around 155... but who knows... it could be way less or more... :huh: I haven't been on a scale since the sixers fall challenge (yikes)... so I hope that I didn't get WAY off track!
This week is crazy for me... I have to try and eat healthy through 3 meetings and 1 all-day conference... my plan is to fill up with greens and drink a ton of water... plus avoiding the cookies... :happy:

unfortunately it's just going back to the diabetic diet i lost a bunch on. so far i may have just barely lost the 3#s he wanted. i don't know what i weighed on his scale. i know it's close to mine. i haven't even lost inch's. that's what surprises me. i can put on a pair of pants and fit great. a few days to a week later i can't get them on. it's like i am ballooning. i am asking for the referral to an endro. i just keep plugging away. don't know. i do have my days were i get so frustrated. enough of me.
Cathy - If the diabetic diet works for you again, then that's good to know!! If not, definitely get your thyroid checked. But I think some folks are just sensitive to carbs. Over a year ago, I dropped 25 pounds easily in just 3 months because I went on a no carbs diet. I wasn't really counting my calories, I just stopped eating bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, sugar. The only carb I did eat was steel cut oats for breakfast. The weight just fell off - the only exercise I got was walking a mile most days. I only did the no carbs to try to make myself feel better. I was having symptoms of hypoglycemia. The doctor ran a glucose tolerance test and confirmed it. But my low blood sugar seems to come only after I eat carbs. I can skip a meal and feel fine. When I went no carb, my symptoms went away and I felt great. Of course, I'm the bread queen. I just love bread!! So, I convinced myself that as long as it was whole grain and high fiber bread/pasta, well, I could eat it. Then I added brown rice and potatoes sometimes and the holidays hit and I started eating sugar. Needless to say, that slowly caused all my symptoms to come back and of course the weight I had lost.
So, starting today I'm going back to my old eating plan: no sugar, no carbs (except steel cut oats). I'm so going to miss bread. :sad: I'm also going back to eating twice in the morning, plus lunch and dinner. I eat oatmeal and then 2 hours later I have an egg and some ham. I did this last summer and it really helped curb the nighttime munchies. Good Luck with the new diet plan, Cathy! We can do this!!0 -
Oh by the way, I have a little success story to share....When I first started losing weight and joined MFP last Feb. My girlfriend bought me a one piece work out out fit very cute. Maker is nike. Size med 8-10. I started laughing when I held it up and said you must have a whole lot of confidence in me. Low and behold I wore it yesterday!!!! And it fit good!!! I held it up before I tried it on and held my breath at first. Then I jumped around the house for what must of been 5 minutes. Screaming OMG OMG. I really didn't think the day would come where I would wear it. So now it's time to check out the back of the closet.....

amylou- Yep ... i took the baby out yesterday and whenever it said bump it up i either walked FASTER or i tried jogging it a few times ! hahah ! my body was like WAT IS GOING on hahaha ! way to go on the lb lost ! ONE LESS RIGHT ! ?!?
Muna- aka MOON- welcome... and thanks so much .... he is my heartstring! i find when i eat the same thing my body gets stuck so i have to definately ramp up my eating part !!! trying new recipes.... searching new ideas ! otherwise i think our bodies go on STRIKE haha ! i think itsa personal thing ! I wouldnt wanna be to a nutrionist... but some people may .... I like to be accountable for myself.... and not have someone tell me what to do or eat... thats why ilove myfitnesspal !!!! Good support, tracks my weight and food.... !!!! its awesome! we are all here for you... i say give it another two weeks.... measure... and weigh... and if you havent lost ANYTHING ..... like B said... inches nor lbs then maybe stop seeing him !

---hmmm so up 2 lbs which is either water weight (will weigh in again to double check), a result of working nights/no sleep, or stress and eating! lol. either way, I mad a healthy soup to eat for dinenr to night. (have to work 6 p.m. - 6 a.m. then study and get ready for my test. plus this B*tch at school (excuse my language, you all know I'm usually a sweetie) totally sabbotaged me by lying and making me have to work AN EXTRA day. She basically lied and said she worked a 24 hour day. then when our head doctor said we could ALL get off early so we could study she went out of her way to say... no I think "I'm" the only one who can get off early. So now I'm conflicted between telling on her because she did NOT do a 24 hour shift, or just letting it slide and knowing that in the end it will all work out and evil doesn't prosper. hmmm... it's just so unfair because she basically has had 2 EXTRA days to study and me and my other classmate are stuck picking up the slack and working 2 extra days! ARGGGG! Well... I know the story is kinda choppy so you may not get it, but I just needed to vent. >:-( and now I need to study because I NOW HAVE TO WORK AGAIN TONIGHT and the test is coming!!! Pray for me team!0
