Man in my neighborhood they would have stolen the camera as well.
Thanks for the laugh.0 -
Get a cheap plastic bowl you don't care about and superglue it to a cinder block. Steal *that* ya bastages!0
-
Doesn't surprise me. We can't even leave our TRASHCANS out for more than 1 day, or those go missing.0
-
Where I grew up you had to actually break into people's houses to steal their stuff. There's no way someone would've left a bowl outside.0

Update: this year my new candy bowl survived unscathed. Whew. Didn't have to pop some caps in some neighborhood punks. Till next year...
Damn! Not only do I remember this thread but I remember thinking reading about a claymored bowl on the news would be hilarious. Now, I'm disappointed in your neighbourhood kids for behaving themselves. :grumble:0 -
Irony is in a few years they maybe stealing stuff so they can smoke a bowl and get some nose candy.0
-
Lol!! Hope you were not found of it.0

For crying out loud, they're NOT horrible people. They're CHILDREN who are not being supervised!
When I was a child and left unsupervised, I DID that sort of thing... Until now I wrongly assumed I was a horrible person.0 -

Good to hear... I was thinking about you last night when my kids were trick-or-treating and someone had left a bowl out.0 -
Next year I'm attaching a trip wire for a claymore to the bowl. That should solve that problem.
Naaaah .. next year just leave out an empty bowl with a sign that says "Take ONE"0 -
Get a cheap bowl with a plastic lid and a cord. Gorilla Glue a cord to the bottom and lash it to a railing so the bowl can't be taken. Fill the bowl with candy. Cut a hole in the lid big enough for a hand but not a fist so the kids can reach in to grab one but not a handful. Gorilla Glue the lid onto the bowl. The next day, cut the bowl free and save for next year/throw away.
Takes a little longer, but keeps the pests in line. Unless they carry a pocketknife.0 -
I love everyone yelling at the OP for being lazy, when he/she was kind enough to set candy out WHILE NOT HOME.
Where I live, it is common practice. I set mine out last night, because I was going out for a long walk and didn't want my trick or treaters to miss out.
Come home, half the candy gone, bowl still there.0 -
that is frickin hilarious!0

Or you just might catch one like a raccoon in a grab trap. :laugh:0 -
To me this smells like, "I left my doors unlocked and someone robbed me!".
I understand wanting to have faith in mankind and I personally feel that the majority of people out there are good people, but I also understand that there are people out there who don't mind stealing my stuff.-1 -

We went out and left candy in a shoe box. I left a note saying, take 2. My daughter laughed because no one pays attention and takes more. She was right of course. They did leave the box.
I hope it wasn't a nice bowl.0 -
Couldn't MFP have given us a "thanks" button...?
That wouldn't have been more than a couple hundred thou.0 -

Really? Who does that?
Edit: I was not at home, I don't get home from work till 8PM
Like hogs at a trough.
ETA - one year we left a trap like this, several of us hid around a friend's house, where we left a bowl with candy. He was dressed as a werewolf mannequin, and the bowl of candy was left on his lap.
If someone took more than one, he'd jump up at them, which would cue the rest of us to come in hard for the scare.
It was fun.
