I am betting people talking about being rubbed with callused hands haven't actually been rubbed with callused hands. My hands are callused. I just rubbed my own arm. I couldn't tell the difference between the callused and non callused parts of my hand.0

Some men don't like getting calluses. Simple as. Their wives/girlfriends also may not like it.
I don't care personally, I have them (and quite proud of them!) My bf has them, a lot worse than I do. It doesn't bother me.
I've also heard they help you grip the bar better. Not actually improve your grip muscles, but just help you grip the bar in that session. I prefer chalk though, gets the job done AND you strengthen your grip.0 -

I have rheumatoid arthritis. My doctor told me I should wear gloves when merely doing yard work, because it it's less wear and tear on your joints. It diffuses the impact all across the hand. He said it's like banging a nail against your skin, versus banging a nail on a piece of wood sitting on your skin.
I asked if I should use it when doing pull-ups, or anything like that and he said YES.
But I'm too lazy to do so. So that.0 -
It seems its always the beginners at the gyms that wear gloves... Girls.. Its fine n cute hah.. Guys... Ur hands are supposed to be manly, rough, and be able to grip a metal bar without gentle padding for ur lotioned palms....0

I'm a Mary Kay rep-my hands need to look nice. I also find I get a better grip & my sweaty hands don't slip as easily.
I have to deal with calloused hands from my BF since he owns a lawncare company, but thankfully they're minimal. I don't want him to have sissy hands, but I also don't want to be cut by a callous!0 -

I didn't realize I looked dumb squatting with gloves on. I put them on when I leave the locker room and take them off when I'm completely done. Then again, I also wear a mouth guard and those hideous VS shoes. God, I must be a sight.0 -

Except that in Star Trek once in awhile someone gets shot with a laser and their entire body and clothes and shoes just phase out of the picture whereas in BSG people get blown up and shot and are left with gaping holes in their bodies and blood splattered around the place.
Of course, I am a fan of both. Except Deep Space Nine and some of the later movies with the cast from the original where they are saving whales and *kitten*.0 -

Don't feel too bad, BSG is way over-rated. Don't get me wrong, I liked the original when I was a kid, and I like Star Trek and Star Wars, but the new BSG wasn't all that.
