    Why did I know the responses would be as they were? :bigsmile:

    I would not advise doing the snatch for beginning lifters (or at all for that matter). The clean and jerk is safer as a compound movement and does just as much for the body.

    Snatch means to grab something. Like you snatched it from the shelf. It's a verb.
    Like "Albert snatched syphllis from a snatch."

    A familiarity with the snatch aids your jerk progress, in my experience .

    "Snatch" is a pie I LOVE to eat. I had some on thanksgiving. I had some last night. Mmmmmmm it's nutritious AND delicious. And it's calorie free!

    The snatch is one of the two olympic weightlifting events (the other being the clean and jerk)
