Can someone explain it to me?
They are weights lifted in one action from the floor! Only to be tried by the trained, as severe injury can be occassioned if you are not careful.0 -

here you are sir
what about a clean snatch?
And do you really need a snatch if you're just going to jerk?
I hear you get faster results from snatches
Yes, but you must approach them delicately, too much too quickly and you'll end up with injuries.0 -

Hate to break it to you pal, but I think you're doing it wrong if that's the case.0 -
snatch, verb - to make a sudden effort to seize something; grab
snatch, noun - the act of or an instance of snatching; a bit, scrap, or fragment of something; in weightlifting - a lift in which the barbell is brought in a single motion from the floor to an arms-extended position overhead
OH!!! Did you mean the SLANG term? It means "lady parts below the belt."

LOVE the other answers, but here is what I found:
The snatch is one of the two olympic weightlifting events (the other being the clean and jerk).
One of those times the real answer is even dirtier.0 -

I'm not so sure about delicately, but I have been told by some experts that a really good warm up is always a good idea. Just diving straight into the snatch isn't always the best way to go about things. Things like rowing a little like you're helping out the man in a boat. That back and forth motions helps loosen some things up and prepares you for the real work. There are many ways to warm up, you're just going to have to find out what works best for you. Also, making sure you are eating before working out...some people tell you things like muffins, mounds, clams, and tacos aren't good before working out, but eating those can be very beneficial to your workout, especially if you're going down and need the energy. IIFYM Also, when you're in snatch itself, don't cheat yourself, go completely all the way up and all the way down, you'll get explosive gains from this. It does make you feel all limp after and it goes much quicker than you thought, but over time and with more concentration, you'll be able hold out for several reps and with practice and dedication, you'll be able to impress any partners you happen to workout with.0 -
