Dear friends,:flowerforyou:
Good afternoon! Waiting for my phone to charge before going to the gym.:drinker:
I saw that some of you did not know about WPW,so the R.N in me had to help with this one! Here is a basic definition of WPW.
Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome
Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome is a heart condition in which there is an abnormal extra electrical pathway of the heart. The condition can lead to episodes of rapid heart rate (tachycardia).
Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome is one of the most common causes of fast heart rate disorders in infants and children.
Causes
Normally, electrical signals in the heart go through a certain pathway that helps the heart beat regularly. The wiring of the heart prevents extra beats from occurring and keeps the next beat from happening too soon.
In people with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, some of the heart's electrical signal goes down an extra (accessory) pathway. This may cause a very rapid heart rate called supraventricular tachycardia.
Most people with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome do not have any other heart problems.
Michele, Glad that Vince was able to convert on his own! Make sure he follows up with his cardiologist about this episode. I would be affected the same way as you were:yawn: Hope you get a good nights sleep tonight!:flowerforyou:

Good evening all!
Linda S-It took ma about 10 months to lose the 71. Since then I have been stuck with about 10 more that I'd like to lose. Am at the top of the healthy % body fat range, but would like to lose a little more. If not, I'm okay where I am. I feel great and have so much more energy!
Michelle- I hope Vince is feeling better. how scary!
Lin C- I love skiing and kayaking. Now if I could just find something to do in the seasons between! I do have a great doctor. she is a bariatric specialist who helps her patients lose weight through a healthy diet, exercise, and learning how to make life-long life-style changes. She recently received recognition from her peers for the great work she is doing.
Dee-Dee- I hope you enjoyed wearing your tiara today. It is great to have such good friends.
Meg- The Wi sounds like fun. My sister has one, but I have never had a chance to try it out. I'm not sure what "programs?" she has for it. I can't justify the money right now. I already have a treadmill, bike, weights, and a number of exercise dvds all of which I use rarely when I can possibly get outside to exercise instead. I love the fresh air and no interruptions/excuses when I am outside.
We drove up north today to ski along the canal in Boonville, Unlike the last two days we went skiing and had to break our own trails, the trails were well-groomed, It was snowing when we left home, but we had beautiful clear blue skies in Boonville. It was in the low 20s with a fairly brisk breeze, but we layered enough that we were comfortable.I always feel energized after a good day of skiing. Love being outside!
Hope everyone has a great evening and a restful night.
Deb A0 -
Lincoln - I really enjoyed the movie. Now the promos for upcoming movies, not so much. We were supposed to go last night, but the schedule changed and we went after church today.
Once we got home I started to work on the laundry again and cleaned out/reorganized my desk.
Since the mexican food from last night resulted in water gain today, I've been downing water like crazy. To clinch the result we also had salmon for dinner, along with brussel sprouts and basmati rice.
Think I will buy the paint for the front rooms at lunch one day this week so I can get at least one room done next weekend.
Off to knit a while... have a good night.

:flowerforyou: LindaS. I grew up with depression era parents who saved things, made do, did without, reused and all those things……it has been hard for me to learn to get rid of things and I’ve been doing it little by little……the footless tights I wear under my jeans in the winter are ones that I bought for Jazzercise in the early 1980’s:laugh:  ……..I walk my dogs one at a time first thing in the morning (about 15 minute each), then after my breakfast shake I walk them together for 90-120 minutes, and in the afternoon I walk them again together for 20-40 minutes…..gomasio is toasted sesame seeds and Kosher or sea salt slight ground.
:flowerforyou:   Michele, that’s scary about Vince…..glad it had an ending that didn’t include a trip to the hospital….Jake has an implanted pacemaker/defibrillator so he has his own built in heart rate regulator
 Deb A. that’s good planning to bring healthy snacks so you don’t get caught off guard.
:flowerforyou: Wessecg, posting even without personal replies is a boost to all of us
:flowerforyou: Jb, your day sounds great and the tamales sound even better
:flowerforyou: Sue, I read all the articles about staying healthy and fit and losing weight just in case there is good idea that I can use
:flowerforyou: LIndaC. I walk in place a lot while watching TV so I can walk more steps even when I can’t get outside.
:flowerforyou: This is our Isagenix cleanse day which makes it a rest day of sorts. Jake built a fire and I haven’t left the house except to walk Brandy and Sasha. I’m doing laundry while we watch our football team struggling against opponents that we thought they would defeat easily…..we have salmon defrosting for our big meal tomorrow……it’s some of the fish that Jake caught awhile ago
:flowerforyou: Tomorrow I’ll be posting the new thread for January. It will probably be early in the day because we have a busy evening planned.
Barbie from NW Washington
It’s not what you eat between Thanksgiving and New Years that will get you as much as what you eat between New Years and Thanksgiving.
Resolutions for December (with end of the month comments)
• Have a strategy for each holiday food event (not many events, but good strategies)
• Weight training three times a week (more like once or twice a week)
• Act the way I want to feel (super)
• Don’t expect praise or recognition (almost super)

Hello all
I have been so busy, I haven't had time to get back with you for a while. I made it through most of the Christmas dinners and have one more to go this coming weekend. I mostly held my weight steady (yo-yoed one pound for several days) but after Christmas I have managed to drop 4 more pounds. I am so thankful for the weight that is gone forever and hope that in the next year ( with the help of my God, my husband, and my MFP friends) I will pull off most of the rest of my weight. Happy New Years to you all!!0 -
DeeDee - in very simple terms, what happens in WPW is this: there is an electical impulse that is sent to the heart telling the heart to beat. Now in most people the path that goes around the heart for this impulse goes about 3/4 of the way around. In Vince's case, it goes all the way around the heart. So when the impulse gets to the top of the heart it continues on that path. At times another impulse goes to the heart. Depending on the timing of when the heart gets the impulses, it might very well (and it does) tell the heart to beat, beat, beat -- whereas in you and I the impulse goes 3/4 around the heart and then dissipates into the body. To be honest, they don't see a lot of WPW in the hospitals any more because most people who have it have an ablation (where microwaves are used to "cut" the pathway). Vince tried to have an ablation, but during the operation his heart went into afib so they had to call off the operation. He's feeling fine today, just tired. Not quite sure if this is totally normal or not. I know he's usually tired after an attack of tachacardia. I slept in the living room (fell asleep reading "Time" magazine) and woke up at 8:30. For me, that is REALLY late as I usually wake up around 5 or 6
M - just be sure dgd "doesn't eat that yellow snow"....lol
Deb - sounds like you have packed some good choices! Have fun
Cheryl - happy birthday to your hubby
katla - tachacardia is when the heart beats too fast. When he first had an attack (and we didn't know about the WPW and he wasn't on any medication) his heartbeat was around 300. Bradycardia is when the heart beats too slow. I kept having flashbacks to when it first happened. Admitted, that was about 30 years ago and technology has advanced. I remember how they brought the stretcher into the house via the garage, so I moved my car (even tho we now have a larger garage and even tho he was able to walk to the ambulance). At the time we lived on a street that made a SHARP turn to the left. When the ambulance came, I think they thought the road ended at the bend so I had to go outside to direct the ambulance to our driveway. OK, OK, I know logically that for one thing we don't live on a street with a sharp bend, technology is more sophisticated. But I still went out into the driveway to direct the ambulance to our house.
Made the cake for Ken. I put brownies in the freezer from Christmas Eve so Vince and Lynette can have that. I'm making a citrus ring cake for Ken.
suebdew - it happens about twice/year now that he's on the medication,
Linda Sundance - thanks for the explanation about the WPW. Vince has been seeing a cardiologist. As a matter of fact, he's supposed to see him next month. This was the first time ever that he had such an irregular heartbeat and he got dizzy. He does have certain "tricks" to make himself convert. One is bearing down (as if you are having a bm). That one seems to work the best for him. But everyone is different. I remember when he had to wear a haltar monitor. They gave him this little booklet where he had to write down everything that he did, (like go to the bathroom). One of the choices was "sex". He just said (now, remember, he's in the hospital) "is that an invitation?" lol
Did an hour of balance games on the Wii today. Tomorrow I'll try out my new yoga DVD then take the extremepump class. They said it was on.
barbie - I was raised by my grandparents who raised their family during the depression. NOTHING was wasted. A while ago I read a book called "20 ways to save the earth" and I couldn't get over how many of the things my grandmother did! Because absolutely nothing went to waste, lest of all food, (it was almost a sin not to clean your plate) I really think that's where a lot of my feelings that I have to finish my plate are ingrained from. It's hard to change the way you were brought up. I seem to be able to get rid of "things" because I donate them and feel that someone else is being able to use them. But I have a hard time with the food. That's probably part of the reason why I donate to the food kitchen -- my way or rationalizing getting it out of my house. Someone else is being helped.
Hope everyone has a great evening.

Good morning, everyone, and Happy New Year's Eve! Any big plans? We're having my sister and her family over for a Wii Dance marathon and whatever else happens. It's an open house, so anyone in the neighborhood without plans is welcome to stop by. It gives me a good reason not to have to take down the decorations yet lol.
I took out all of my size 14 pants and put them in the goodwill bag. I had gotten a gift certificate from my MIL for Coldwater Creek so I went on a "shopping spree" last night on-line - ordered everything in 10s. Out with the old, in with the new, right?
I'm probably a little bouncy for so early in the morning - I got up with the cat, put on my workout clothes and began a new routine, a kickboxing one. It's very cold here (as with everywhere I imagine) but I'm going out for a walk this afternoon anyway. And with that, Happy New Year - begin as I mean to go. I also have a slightly stricter diet to follow - the sort of meal plan that came with the workout DVDs. It's an easy block plan - mix and match carbs and proteins, veggies and fruits.
I have to work today but will knock off early to get ready for tonight. I'll talk to you all in the New Year - where we'll all be seeing "less" of each other!
Cheers!
M.

Good morning beautiful ladies:flowerforyou:
Happy New Year`s Eve!!!!!
M Congrats on getting rid of those 14`s and ordering a size 10, Woo hoo!!!!!
Liz I`ve not slept till 7:30 in years, I`m up everyday between 5:00 and 5:30, no matter what:grumble: . Glad you got a little extra sleep!
Michele Wow, I`m guessing Vince is on some kind of medication for this? At least you slept a bit later than usual, that`s good!!! You know I was raised where we didn`t have to clean our plate at dinner, however we were warned not to take more than we thought we wanted, we were made to drink our milk , and I can tell you I don`t like milk:noway: at all. I remember sitting at the table thinking I was going to throw up trying to get it down. I keep 2% milk here for the youngest granddaughter, that`s all she wants to drink, I will use it once in awhile in cooking but to drink it:sick: :noway: ! You know thinking about this, none of us ever had a weight problem growing up, we were always outside playing, riding bikes etc. etc.....we didn`t watch a lot of tv, I remember watching some at night, and on Sunday afternoons but that`s it. My weight gain came from that #$%* Paxil:explode: !
Oh I`m rambling here:laugh: !
Hope everyone has a wonderful day today! If you go out partying tonight:bigsmile: , please be safe!!!
Drink your water:drinker: :drinker: :drinker: and then drink some more:drinker: and log your food!!!
Hugs,
DeeDee
Today is my official weigh in day...I`m happy to say I`ve lost 2 of the 3 pounds I gained in Nov. ! I just measured myself, I lost 3/4 of an inch in my arms:huh: , all the other measurements stayed the same!0 -
YoYo
Congrats on 71 lbs lost. that is a big chuck gone. so did you have gastric bypass.
glad you enjoyed your day of skiiing.
gail
what are you knitting. I was given two balls of yarn that make a scarf in an hour. got to figure it out.
barbie
think if I want steps on my pedometer I will have to walk in place
Jane
You sre are a giving and caring person.
Michele
Glad to hear that hubby is ok. well never ok when you have a heart problem. but as good as can be expected.
and you did get a few hours of sleep. I chose to do the wii yesterday and man balance was hard on the legs more yesterday than usual. did 10 min. balance and my yoga routine 20 min,
Liz
those lazy days is something we need our bodies need those. but not as many as I give it. LOL.
I keep soup in the fridge almost all the time that way if I get company like my son drops in uninvited or my brothers I can at least offer soup and sand. It used to be soup and homemade bread. but I packed to much of the bread on my belly and a--.
M
sounds like a fun plan.
Out of 14's into the 10's i'd say yes to out with the old in with the new.
I have to find somekind of food plan I'm still learning what I can eat to keep my sugars at a reasonable rate.
That will come.
Well today should be a good day only some chopping to do for tomorrow having my brothers and family all over for lunch making chinese. My egg rolls are done. chicken balls are done. beef for stir fry cooked and ready. so tomorrow will have fried rice to get ready and if I do all the chopping for that today. will be easy. Making stir fry but being lazy and using frozen veg. easier and just as good. Now hubby asked for chinese spaghetti. so that will be made as well. He invited his family from the nearby city and lunch seems to be better for them. as they won't have to drive in the dark. should have thirty or more. should be fun.
sorry my key board don't want to give my capitals the keys seem to stick.
I have a few family members stopping for breakfast this morning only four on there way back to Montreal.
so out of here going to precook the bacon slice the ham. make the pancake batter and be almost ready. because they don't stop for long.
back later
Linda0 -
M – quite a shift from 14s to 10s! Good for you.
Linda – I’m currently making a scarf. (NOT done in an hour!) You must have some of the fun new yarns that work up on big needles. The ones that end up looking ruffled look like they would be fun to try. Santa left me a couple of joann’s gift cards, so I’ll be able to indulge my hobbies.
Off to work soon –
Gail0 -
Good morning all!
Lin C- I did not have gastric bypass. I lost all of the weight by learning to eat right and exercising. I did start with Optifast shakes and bars to get started, but transitioned to food within a few months. It seems to be a good time to knit. I hadn't knitted in years, but have just finished 5 small projects. Keeps my hands busy in the evening and keeps me from snacking!
M- Great job in getting down to 10s!:drinker: :drinker: :drinker: I love Coldwater Creek. Sounds like you are ready for a great NYE.
DeeDee- Congrats on the loss!:flowerforyou:
Does anyone know where I can get information on knitting for charity? I am finding that I enjoy small projects, but don't need anything for myself.
Michelle- Wish there were an extreme pump class here. Sounds like a good workout.
Don't know if we will get any skiing in today. It is supposed to warm up some. Hope not enough for the snow to go away!
Have a great day!
Deb A0 -
Linda S
You did wonderful. I thought by the name you gave your doctor might of been a bypass.
Looking to do knitting for charity check with your hospital they might need little hats and mitts for preemies.
Schools take mitts for kids that show up at school without them.
I'm sure Jane can give you more ideas
Gail
It is for those ruffled scarves I have one but paid $20.00 didn't want to wait for me to knit one. LOL.
Well that's my smoothie gone 6 oz orange smoothie with greek yogurt and chia seed. Why so little a breakfast have company coming between 9 and 10 for breakfast. So now going to go check the laundry.
Back later.0 -

Good Morning Ladies,
Well yesterday I slept in till 7:30 but today back to normal up at 5 am. I really don't mind. My DH and DD are both sleepy heads theyon work days till 6:30 and days off they just sleep till they wake up. My DH works so hard that it seems a good thing for him. As far as me its rare that I sleep in. But I like being the 1st person up in the house. Nice and quiet. Allows me to drink my morning drink and have a nice quiet time.
@Dee Congrats on the Loss.
@Michele that extreme pump class sounds like quite the workout.
and
@M wow quite a difference congrats!
@Deb A and @ Gail I have been working on s baby blanket. You are right its a good way for me to keep my hands busy and out of food.
Tonight we are having friends over going to ring in the new year playing cards.
I will try yo get back tonight but if I don 't I wish everyone a Happy New Year.
Have fun and keep safe my friends

Monday, December 31-It is hard to believe.it is New Years Eve day already. How will the ball in Time's Square drop without **** Clark to count it down? He hasn't been the main guy in a few years, but he was still there. The last time there was a '13, my mom wasn't even a gleam in my grandpa's eyes yet. We had our first real frost last night, but not what I'd call a hard freeze. I haven't bothered to look up the temperature for the last '13 New Years, but here goes:
Here's what NOAA (US weather administration that measures, counts and predicts the weather for those who may not know the acronym ) had to say, and I'm unsure of the exact location other than USA. I think it may be averages:
THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE EVER RECORDED ON NEW YEAR'S DAY WAS 63 DEGREES IN 1985. THE LOWEST THE MERCURY HAS EVER DROPPED TO IS ZERO IN 1918 AND 1970. NORMALLY, THE HIGH TEMPERATURE AVERAGES 34 DEGREES AND THE LOW ABOUT 20.
THERE IS ALMOST A 90 PERCENT CHANCE OF PRECIPITATION OF A TRACE OR MORE, THOUGH NOT NECESSARILY SNOW. THE MOST PRECIPITATION EVER ON NEW YEAR'S DAY FELL IN 1932 WHEN 1.40 INCHES WAS RECORDED. THE MOST SNOW FELL IN 1964 TOTALING 8.1 INCHES BETWEEN 2PM AND 8PM. REDUCED VISIBILITIES AND BLOWING SNOW WERE NOT A PROBLEM HOWEVER AS WIND SPEEDS WERE RELATIVELY LOW.
A SEVERE WINTER STORM BEGAN ON NEW YEAR'S DAY IN 1945 AND BEFORE IT WAS OVER ON THE 2ND, 15.0 INCHES OF SNOW HAD FALLEN. THE SNOW COMBINED WITH WINDS OF GALE FORCE RESULTED IN ANOTHER CRIPPLING OF BOTH CITY AND INTER CITY TRAFFIC AND TRANSPORTATION BY BUSES AND STREET CARS. RAILWAY SCHEDULES WERE NOT ABANDONED BUT ALL PASSENGER TRAINS WERE SEVERAL HOURS LATE. THE STORM WAS GENERAL THROUGHOUT WESTERN NEW YORK AND MANY HIGHWAYS WERE IMPASSABLE. AIR TRAVEL WAS CANCELED. SCHOOLS IN THE CITY AND COUNTY CLOSED.
NEW YEAR'S DAY PERIOD OF RECORD: 122 YEARS (1890‑2012)TEMPERATURE DATA
HIGHEST 63 IN 1985
LOWEST 0 IN 1918 AND 1970
LOWEST MAXIMUM 11 IN 1918
HIGHEST MINIMUM 39 IN 2007
AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE 34.5
AVERAGE LOW TEMPERATURE 20.8
Amazing stats. We'll see how tomorrow goes, and whether it beats the all time high. I tend to doubt it, but things are definitely trending warmer around here. If it is dry, I'll get outside and walk but if not, I'll have to find another way to exercise.
I'm thinking about resolutions. I usually don't make them and consider them kind of a jinx, so if you see some in my post tomorrow, they'll be a continuation of things I'm doing now.
Enjoy the celebration, but please don't drink and drive, except water.:drinker:0 -
Hello ladies!
I have been reading entries but not posting for a while. My DD #1 is home for the holidays and the time with her is precious. She lives across the country from me so I treasure every second. Had a great Christmas with both daughters and DH. Was able to see both families; my side had all five of us together for the first time since my dad died in 2006. I surprised them with a shutterfly photo book of a few of my pics from my visit to the Shiloh Civil War Battlefield.
I will review my December goals in the new thread when open. I allowed myself to indulge in the functions without getting totally out of control. My weight has fluctuated up and down a pound but I am not overly concerned. I found a yoga center I am going to get a 10 class pass and see how it fits into my schedule. Once a week to start out but hopefully I will get there more.
I continue to be thankful to my MFP friends and their support and encouragement. My daily dose of Vitamin F is a necessity! Happy New Year Ladies!!!
Carolyn0 -
Can you believe that MFP wouldn't let me type Mr. Clark's first name?0
-
Wishing all of you a Happy New Year's Eve:flowerforyou:
I know I haven't been here for the past few weeks as I still have company and two more parties before I return to a regular work, workout, daily schedule.
Hoping everyone had a good holiday past and as we start to look forward to our New Year I am reflecting on how successful this past year was for me on MFP and looking forward to continued success in 2013:bigsmile:
I made the conversion to the new accounting program and when I went to do the check to verify that it had gone correctly NOT ONE SINGLE NUMBER MATCHED:sad: I have NO idea what the system converted or where it got it's numbers...so I'm at a loss and will tackle it the best I can...and probably won't really get much done until I return to the office on January 2nd....until then frustration will reign:grumble:
Have a good day all.
Laura801110 -
Wishing all a thinner and happy new year.
DH is taking me to a new year's eve gala at one of the swanky hotels downtown tonight, so I will be out of the loop for a little while.
I hope all yours dreams and hope's come true for 2013. Tigress0 -
:flowerforyou: Hi everyone
:grumble: Well I've completely fallen off the wagon. I'm finding it difficult to get into the right frame of mind. What is wrong with me !!! :noway: :noway: I have put my new weight on my ticker and feel so ashamed that I have let myself put weight on.
All I can do is now, is pick myself up, dust myself off, give myself a good talking to, and get back on it.
I think I need to be more like you Michele and get rid of the chocolates and biscuits that I have been nibbling on. I obviously can not be trusted with certain foods and so the best thing is to give them away.
:flowerforyou: I hope you all had a wonderful time over Christmas and I'll take this opportunity to wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR.
One of my new goals for January is to log in more often, and to log everyday.
Love to all and thanks for being here!
Viv0 -
Welcome back to it Viv. I'm not exactly sitting on the wagon these last few days either. Tonight is the New Year's Eve party and will be a complete food fest. I lost through the holidays, but if I don't gain from the last 5 days it will be a miracle.
Last night was a total surprise. We met friends at their home in Chicago to celebrate my husband's birthday. She really really overdid herself. She made a pot of jambalaya, - some spicy cream of celery soup I've never tasted the likes of - it was amazing, some green bean almondine, baked a turkey, and had a birthday cake and ice cream. Additionally she broke out blinking reindeer horns for everyone for sheer goofyness. We had brought barbecued meatballs and fudge. We rarely see these friends so it was a shock that she did so much for us. We thought we were going to watch the Bear's game and eat finger food. I think I finished the day over 2000 calories. Tonight won't be better - but next week I will be totally back on track.
0 -
Happy last day of 2012!~ I hope all of you have something fun to do tonight and will stay safe. We are going out with our best friends for dinner and dancing all evening. NYE is my favorite holiday and I just love dancing in the new year. It’s cool and grey here today and we may get a little snow, but nothing much other than some flakes.
I hung up my new birdfeeders yesterday. They are so pretty. The one in the front yard was broken and we had it all wired together, so one went there. It’s huge…took 8 scoops of seed to fill it! The other one is a nyger feeder and has a pretty copper wire twirled around it for the birds to stand on.
DH works til 3. The girls are having some friends over tonightDD#1 wondered where DH was and when I said “work” she was amazed that anyone would work on the day of new years eve! Then she got called into work!
LinC: no we just got the regular wii fit. They didn’t have the other one is stock and this was already $100, so we’ll “make do” LOL  Sounds like you are planning a feast!
DebA: I too have exercise “tapes” (they are so old they are on VCR) but don’t really use them much. I need to start going back to the Y for my aerobics class, so hopefully this January I can do that. I was just getting tired of the elliptical all the time. This has aerobics, balance, and yoga (plus some other things) and I really could use the balance and yoga too. I tried a yoga class but was gently told “this may not be for you” because I can’t do ANY of the activities. I need to stretch, so I though yoga at home might work!
Gail: when you get done with your house, will you come paint mine?
Michele: how scary with Vince! I hope he is feeling better now! :flowerforyou: I can remember talking to all sorts of cardiac patients about sex, so reading what Vince said made me laugh!
Jane: sometimes a nice quiet evening is wonderful!!!
Juner: yay for your weight loss! :flowerforyou:
Liz: hope you woke up rested and refreshed today! Have fun at cards!
M: I had to laugh when you said you got up with the cat….one of ours sleeps ALL day and the other two NEVER sleep so I was wondering what kind you had! Yay for throwing out the 14s. I can’t wait til I can wear a 14!!!
DeeDee: you are so right about being outside as a kid and never having a weight problem then. My kids can’t believe people actually go outside…and mind you they didn’t have cell phones, TVs in their rooms, computers, etc. DD#1 got a laptop when she graduated high school and got a cell phone when she started working in the evening last year. DD#2 doesn’t have either. I can’t figure out what they do all day long!
Katla: I too will miss D Clark. NYE wont’ be the same without him! Can’t believe mfp edits his name!
Carolyn: good to see you again. Sounds like you have been in control this holiday season! Congrats!
Laura: nice to see you too. Sorry about the frustration with the new system. I hope you get it figured out quickly.
Viv: don’t beat yourself up. We all fall off the wagon (I’m off the wagon more than on it I think). We just do the best we can and make good choices. Sounds like you have figured out you can’t have certain foods around the house. Good choice. Now after your talking to, give yourself a pat on the back and a hug from me for being concerned with your health!:flowerforyou:
Well off to get some book work done before it gets too late in the day. I’ve been wearing my new shoes to break them in some and I think I need some heel inserts because my heels tend to pop out. I wish I had normal feet! Way wide across the toes, super high arch, skinny heel. Nothing fits! Oh well, I’m still dancing even if I have to take my shoes off! Take care everyone and stay safe tonight! Meg

Hello Everyone, I just found your group, looks like this is where the cool kids are......... can I hang out? LOL
I recently turned 54, have lost 20 pounds since starting MFP a few months ago. Weighed in this morning and no surprise that the scale didn't budge since I went off track on Christmas Day. One day of cheating = no weight loss but it was totally worth it, no tracking that day, plenty of good wine and good food!!!
Trying to stay motivated thru this process and would love some encouragement! Please feel free to 'friend' me :-)
Happy New Year!!!!!!0 -
Good Morning! It's a beautiful, if slightly chilly, day to end the year.
I'm sooo happy to say that the scale finally went into the 140s for me. I don't know if I have ever been there in my adult life! I even lost weight this month when I was just hoping to maintain. I have been eating some of the goodies that people have given us, but still stayed within my calories. (Sometimes I had to do extra walking or exercising though!)
It's so nice to hear that everyone had good holidays and got to see family from near and far. My son, dil, and gs were here on Christmas Day. The rest are too far away.
I would love to be in Minnesota today to celebrate my gs' 7th birthday. They grow up so fast!!
Please have a happy and safe New Year's Eve...and a wonderful new year too. Eileen0 -
I hope that everyone has a wonderful New Year's Eve! We will probably do what we usually do, which is to sleep through it. I used to stay up with the kids when they were at home, but hubby won't stay up and being by myself doesn't seem to have much point. Our son is going to one of those fancy parties downtown, which always makes me nervous for his safety. I guess I need to learn to chill and accept that he is grown up!
I think that eating a high protein diet is really important for weight loss -- maybe because Slimgenics pounded that into my head years ago. I eat one protein bar everyday (American Bariatrics has really good ones). Yes, they are like candy, but they fulfill my need for sweets, as well. I find that the protein causes the cravings to go away after only a few days, and I rarely get hungry. I have Greek yogurt for breakfast every day, and it keeps me happy until lunch time.
I finally weighed myself for the first time since before Thanksgiving. It was up 4.5 lbs., but is mostly water weight. I started logging again and have already lost 3 lbs. of it in just 2 days. I don't know why I don't drink enough when I'm not logging -- it seems like it should be second nature by now! I'm hoping to be even by the end of next week and ready to move forward and downward again. 1.5 lbs. is not bad for 6 weeks of holiday eating and a trip to Mexico, so I'm okay with it.
Lila -- Squirrels are rats with boas?? LOL I prefer squirrels to rats, but had one get into the house while we were on vacation several years ago. It chewed up the woodwork trying to get out, and left bloody footprints across all of the beds and furniture. We had to hire a trapper to catch it, so squirrels aren't at the top of my popular list. Living in the country has it's own challenges. We also had pack rats in the walls at one point and you could hear them running in the light soffit over our bed. That was another job for the trappers!
Gail -- Will have to let hubby know that you liked "Lincoln" and see if we can't watch it. Glad you had fun!
Michele -- I hope Vince continues to feel better. How scary! I'm glad that he's okay. You're such a nice person! I love that you send cakes with gifts.
Linda Sundance -- Belated Happy Birthday to your Hubby! My mother-in-law came back from southern California on Saturday night, and said that it was cold and rainy there... not as cold as Denver, though!
Mwheatcraft54 -- Tahoe sounded like a lot of fun, and your GD sounds delightful! Great job on moving from 14s to 10s! I admire you for starting kickboxing, which should be great exercise. I can't do anything like that with my foot problems.
Suebdew -- I love the new motto and may adopt it myself!
Meg -- How do you like the Wii? Have fun out dancing with your friends tonight -- I'm sure the new shoes will look fabulous!
Junerbooner -- Congrats on being down 4 lbs. since Christmas! That's wonderful!
DeeDee -- Hurray for 2 lbs. down and smaller arms!!!!
Lin Charpentle -- I had someone trying to sell me chia seed. What do you think of it? Does it do anything? The Chinese food sounds great -- I don't know how to make any of that.
Viv -- We all fall off the wagon at times. Just get right back on and start logging! It will all fall into place. Rome wasn't built in a day, and our weight loss journey will take time as well.
Wessecg -- Nice photos! I love the reindeer horns. LOL Have fun and enjoy yourself tonight.... you've been doing amazingly, and one week of being off won't hurt you in the long run, as long as you get back on next week.0
