There was one year where my bosses could not afford to give a bonus. That was fine. I respect that.
Last year they made it up to me with an awesome bonus! I'm grateful they even bothered!0 -
Bonus? Raise? COL increase? What are these terms???0

hold the phone... you get paid to work!?!?!0

I work for a very small company, and we have a holiday lunch out, paid for by the company, and receive our holiday bonus checks then. The amount is based on how long we have worked for the company.0

I have a stable job and 100% healthcare coverage. I'll just be thankful for that.
I have never had a Christmas bonus.0 -
With a previous position I had, we got a nice Christmas party but no bonus. Now I'm in a different position (with the same company) and I get $100 Christmas bonus for each year I am employed but no Christmas party.0

this is my first year with the company....i would assume we don't get a bonus, but I could be wrong about that.
we're also a government affiliated industry, so bonuses may not be in the best interests of industry transparency, so again, I assume we won't.
But in the past when I worked in banking, the bonus' were sick.....so I'm assuming it's not going to even come close to that here..0 -
I work for a govenment agency, and have been told that bonuses for us are against the law...A few years ago, we got stainless steel Christmas ornaments with our company logo stamped on them. Last year we got a card and a candy cane. I can hardly wait for this year's surprise! :laugh:0

I get 2 weeks off paid (week of Christmas and week of New Year's). Works out well to catch all of the bowl games.0

I am very lucky to work for a company that gives bonuses (based on length of time at the company) and an awesome Christmas party...full meal, open bar and raffle gifts (there are casino games that you play with "fake" money to win then you get tickets to win the raffle prizes--we are talking tvs, coach purses and gift cards!).
A couple of years ago the parties (but not the bonus) were stopped due to the economy but as of last year they are back on!!0 -
We don't really get a "Christmas bonus" but we get quarterly bonuses and the last one of the yr is in our paycheck at the end of October so I USE IT like a Christmas bonus!!0

I've been at my company for 6 years. We've almost always had a Christmas party with full bar & food, but only the first year and last year involved bonuses. This year we *may* get one (it hasn't been announced, and they're based on profitability) and the Christmas party has been pared down to a Christmas lunch. Got a COL this year too, first one in 5 years. Been a bad few years, but getting better...so I'm hopeful.0

I would take this over any bonus.
Or a raise would be nice.0 -
heck no. We give stuff to charity instead. We also have a white elephant gift exchange and a team party in a couple weeks. Some larger groups have large christmas parties where they go all out renting nice places and caterers and bands and such. No need for extra cash.0

We've gotten nothing for the past 3 years. Hubby works for a start up company and to be honest, we are just happy they can still afford to pay us/that he still has a job. I wish we got a big fat bonus check though.0

Two years ago we got one and last year we did also (before that it was a cutting board!) we never know until the day of the Christmas luncheon (Dec 19) if we are or not - BUT we just did an employee engagement survey and we were in the bottom 2 ....sooo I have a feeling bribery may be in the works0

I work for an amazing company and I worked my *kitten* off this year. I think they already gave me a raise without telling me actually and I'm looking forward to my bonus.
I'm so busy I've been on MFP all day - it's just that time of year!
I also work a 1/2 day the 24th and get until January 2nd off paid. Mind you - I'm taking extra time so I get 2 1/2 weeks off.0 -
It's my first year with my company, but we sent out gift cards to our caregivers and gifts to our clients.
I got a 100$ check for my "holiday" gift.
Not sure if we have a party...only 5 of us in our office.
Edit: We also get a bonus depending on how much we bill over a certain amount of time. We hit a record last month...So I'm hoping to get one soon! Last one was $300 bucks and the year one is around $600.Fingers Crossed!

No bonus, but I love my job and am so grateful to have it.
But we have an awesome holiday party! We have a casino company come in with games, Vegas style dealers, a magician, ("money" won is used to enter drawings for prizes). There are door prizes as well. It is catered by our own catering department (extremely awesome) and we always have a great time.0 -
My company is still rather small....they host a nice party every year for the employees.
If there is money in the budget, they slip us a $50 or two in a card.
That's about it....can't complain...they're great to work for, they have beyond amazing benefits and they're flexible.
This is us too, I love working for a small company.
We don't get a bonus, we get a cash gift. No taxes on a Christmas gift.0
