Why are womens' bodies always up for scrutiny?

I posed this before and was blocked from my own topic. So I won't be responding to this one.
But why is it OK for random female clerks and salespeople, or professionals like your doctor or your vet to literally stare at your boobs and waist, to comment on your thighs, to ask your jean size, etc.? Men do it too, but women are much, much worse and far more obvious and likely to ask overtly about your body.
I have actually taken to wearing my fat clothes (2-3 sizes too big) more often than not, as at least then I am left in peace. The (FEMALE) vet isn't staring at my boobs and asking what my current jean size is; I am not getting death stares from other women; and fewer random men just decide to chat me up or give me free stuff at the checkout.
If I wear what fits me, I get so much attention that I would rather stay home and do everything over the internet. Fat was better.

You missed out the bit in this thread where you actively engaged in the conversation even pulling up your jumper to show the woman your butt.
I didn't post in the last thread because you had already gotten nasty by the time I got there.
But if you honestly think fat was better, go for your life.0 -
Maybe you should stop thinking of it as a bad thing. I don't think I'd mind having this problem.0

What obsidianwings said. That was just....odd.0

Never had that. Not at 108# or 150# or a very proportionate nice 130#.0
-
And why would you repost this same topic? You got plenty of feedback on it already?

Uhm? Really?0

Was this the thread where you went completely psycho and started talking about how worthless people's opinions were to you?
....Ahhhh yep.....
I'm outtie!0 -
Oh, YESSS!!!! I was sad when this thread went poof! before.
In for the WIN!0 -

I know that guys get a bad rap for looking at women, frankly I think it is rude myself. I have noticed however that women are just as opinionated as guys are even if they are not as vocal about it (and in the right group they sometimes share far more than men do in their opinions of the opposite sex).
Men are usually chastised for this behaviour while women are largely ignored.

...Words, more words and even more words. Complaining and more complaining. Other words and stuff...Fat was better.
Then gain back your weight and quit complaining.
Oh...and you might want to copy this and save it for when this thread gets locked/deleted and you have to start it yet again. Also, put back in the pancake butt comment...you missed it this time.0 -

I was going to seriously respond to this until I saw the other replies. Guess I missed the show earlier.0

Maybe I'm jumping to conclusions (I didn't read the original thread), but I suspect the OP has an eating disorder.0

Fine, I'll make an attempt to be more overt in my oogling of breasts....happy now?0

So we have ONE actual answer and then just crap.
And people wonder why folks advise against ever using the forums for help. Won't make that mistake again.0 -
That is kind of kooky, I have never had a man give me free anything at the check out and I have had gigantic boobs since I was 13. After so many years, I don't even notice people looking at them. Sometimes I check just to make sure the headlights are both pointing in the right direction. No since having googly headlights.0

maybe people are bored with your rant, because it sort of absurd to most. but if it is really bugging you you should seek some real help. or just stay in because you can't take a compliment

Honestly, I didn't see the original thread.
My honest answer to what you describe is this: You are either so unusually out of the ordinary for everyone to be commenting on your body, or you live in a place where there are no normal people, hence you seem unusually out of the ordinary.0 -

If a man politely flirts or tells me I am attractive in some form, it is simply flattering... If they do cross the line however, (touching, disrespectful remarks) then I stand up for myself and more women should too. A few men are just jerks, but many times they've just gotten away with it (or even received a positive response) so they think that it is acceptable. Aaaannnd if you're constantly getting attention from these 'jerks'... could it possibly be something you're doing?
If this is seriously just about men looking then...I don't even know what to say. Men look at boobs, and butt, and hips, and bodies. It's not even a conscious thing. It is biological. Biology is a hard thing to fight. Give a dude a break every once in a while, lol. Sometimes they look and they aren't even attracted! (But to all the husbands/boyfriends out there... you could learn a lesson in discretion...if your woman sees you looking she will get mad!).0 -
Ok...I get a lot of attention but I not so many people asking me questions like that. Where the heck do you LIVE? Maybe b/c we are all so jaded in NJ...they look, and some guys of course try to chat me up, but I don't get all these questions about my thighs, etc0

totally missed the original post. bummer.
i don't think you really asked a 'help me' question. everyones bodies are always up for scrutiny, not just women. also i think you need to find a new vet, because that's just plain creepy.0 -
