This is a body image issue that originates in your brain. It's not what other people see.
This. :flowerforyou:0 -
Stop. Just. Stop.
And then go see a professional. The problem isn't in your body, it is in your perception. Nothing any of us strangers on the internet say is gonna make it better. So don't ask us. Just stop.0 -
i think you may have some issues with body image, if your 5'10 at 155 pounds you think your obese, what am i then" im 5'8 and 160 pounds in no way i t hink im obese" , im a size 14/some 12 , i lift and run/walk heaps, im alot tighter all over , ive lost inches cos of lifting and cardio.
Lift weights youll be suprised what results youll experience:)0 -
rather than having skin tight to my bones
not actually true, my skin is against my bones.0 -
body fat percentage can mean a lot. try building up muscle if you're happy at your current weight but want to look more toned.0

Yuuup, that's your problem. If you wanna fix it you need to do cardio exercies and strength trainign that targets your legs to tone them up. Just be patient and keep at it...it takes time but it'll give you results
yes, this! Diet alone will make you lose weight but exercise is what will make you firm...cardio and weights, my friend0 -
I'm 6' and hover around 152-155. You don't look even close to obese. The others are right - lift. Lift heavy. You will be shocked at what it can do in terms of body composition. Today, at 32, I'm a size 6 at 155. When I was in high school, I was 155 and a size 10. I was an athlete and pretty fit, but didn't lift heavy. I am definitely an advocate for lifting. Give it a few months and you'll be shocked. Good luck!!0

Is this real? Or one of those stupidly snarky posts? I can't tell anymore.0

Please help! I'm 5'10 155 pounds and I just look so fat! When I see other girls my height and weight they look so skinny without much fat to grab at all but I have big thighs and hips, not big bones just pure fat! Even at my lowest weight of 125 I had this fat on my legs. So why is this? Do I have like stupidly small bones or something? My silhouette looks so slim but I'm not at all, even my knees are fat. So how can I fix this? Do I need to exercise more? I hope you can understand what I mean coz I feel like the only person who can be so tall have a low weight and STILL look fat! Had to get that off my chest lol
I creep your profile
you do not look fat
I'm going to add a picture of my stomach to show you what I mean, please be kind as I had a baby three months ago and am very self conscious but I feel like I'll only be able to get honest help if you understand what I mean by slim but fat lol0 -
I will simply reiterate what others have been saying: lift weights!
I PROMISE, you will not get muscley and look like the Hulk. I promise promise promise.0 -
Thank you but thats what I mean like my silhouette looks slim but I have a LOT of fat handfuls covering my bones rather than having skin tight to my bones, just wondering how to get that firm kind of body instead of pudgey? And does anyone have a similar problem?
First and foremost, what defines a woman's body from a man's body is fat. Skin tight to your bones is considered exceptionally unhealthy (you should have some muscles under there). In order to get serious definition, you need to change your body composition. However, because women's bodies are different, what body fat % you'd have to get down to GET that definition is a whole other story.
On that same line of thought, getting down to the 'definition' body fat %, could seriously screw up your body + hormones. Now, not all women have that problem, but a large number of professional athletes and seriously athletic women don't get their period because they don't have enough body fat. Doing something to the degree that it messes up your body's natural cycles, in my unprofessional opinion, is unhealthy.0 -
you look on the skinny side....maybe a body image issue? It's tough to see ourselves as we are.0
-
These whole..."I don't want to bulk by lifting" forum posts are getting so irritating. If anyone wants to have a perfect example of how this isn't true - LOOK AT YOOVIE!
Eventually, I want to match her lifting work outs because I am not afraid to have muscle and I understand that I'm NOT going to end up looking like a female Arnold.
Get over the misconceptions and if you still aren't convinced..RESEARCH. There is a whole lot of material out there - VALID material and advice given by nutritionists, trainers, physical therapists and others in both the scientific and medical communities.0 -
rather than having skin tight to my bones
not actually true, my skin is against my bones.
but it still doesnt require an eating disorder.
At 170 I had 33% body fat/size 12, I had handfuls of grossness that I wanted to part with. I started doing bodyweight circuits as best as I could at home, running like once a week and deadlifting and dabbling in other little things. Now im 22%/size 8 and about the same weight- 165 actually.
I went from muffintop to no muffintop.
I feel like the OP is talking about being fit, about having that "no handfuls" feeling, that moment when someone wraps their hands around your waist and you dont suck it all in asap, squeeze your eyes shut as tightly as possible and stop breathing until you are sure they arent going to feel something squishy...
lifting weights made me not scared to have hands on my waist anymore. Go ahead. Feel it.0 -
 :noway:
You.Are.Beautiful! I do not see "Fat" However, to tone up ~
I absolutely agree with the weight lifting idea. I just started a few weeks ago and I'm already seeing results (even if the scale isn't moving quite as much as I'd like). I think you'll enjoy it, it can boost confidence levels knowing that you are strong and working to get stronger0 -
Thank you for all you advice and kind words, but seriously I do not have a warped body image someone hit the nail on the head when they said I am 'skinny fat and have very little muscle' so from what people have said only good old fashioned exercise can solve it. And that also explains why some women are heavier than me but look amazing!0
-
I do a lot of walking and sometimes running but don't work out enough probably do you think that's what I need to do? Please could you suggest some exercises that will help me tighten up but not gain muscle?
In a round about way you just said you don't want to get bulky.0 -
This is me AFTER I lost 50lbs and before I got pregnant ( working on the last 10 lbs now)... I worked out with weights and kettlebells, and I never heard once I looked bulky or had too big of muscles...
the more muscle you have, the more lean and fit you are going to look... plus your body burns more calories in general... and you get to eat more lol !!
I am 5'9

http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/818686-skinnyfat-before-and-after
you could ask her in her thread or add her and im sure she will help

im good in dieting so feel free to ask and i will introduce you to IIFYM " Flexible dieting "0 -
You need to start a lifting program. New Rules of Lifting for Women is a good one. I personally use it, but there are other programs.
You do not look obese, but if you want to firm up, then lifting is the way to go. You need to eat at a modest calorie deficit, eat lots of protein, and lift!0 -
where is Yoovie??? she's your height, and about ten pounds heavier then you.
and she looks amazing.
you know why??
she lifts.

i quit.
the number of people posting totally idiotic nonsense while boasting a 0 pound loss and serious body issues of their own, combined with successful people snarking off - makes it pointless to try.

OK I just noticed you said you HAD A BABY 3 MONTHS AGO!! give your belly time to get its elasticity back!
I started a bootcamp, where we do weights, and strength training about 6 week after baby and this is where I was at 10 weeks post baby-
I promise you , gaining muscle is the BEST decision you can make!!!
It will take some time, but you can't just do a bunch of situps, you have to add muscle to your whole body... and you will look great!!

You cannot physically have skin tight to your bones unless you are starving (Holocaust victims.. those images haunt my mind)
You are very thin, but your view of yourself is not good. Lift weights, and TALK TO SOMEONE!0 -
Don't worry you won't bulk up. Just start lifting, you'll see.0

weights is the only way as they are all telling you-0

Agreed. I think that the poster of the above (not Yoovie) - needs to do some research. Hell, talk to your doctor and they'll tell you, you are wrong.0 -
