Mmm, bagels have been on my to-make list forever! Problem is partner can't eat them and I don't want to be stuck with a dozen of them.Seriously want to know about these homemade bagels... I always thought bagels required industrial machinery and big vats for boiling...
(they look delicious!)Those bagels looks AMAZING!! I bet this was delicious. It literally has 4 of my favorite foods all in one@Howl_Shadowkn and giggitygoo- Can you please share your recipes? :flowerforyou: Thanks!
Thanks for the bagel love :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
They're really not any harder than making bread. No industrial equipment or giant boiling vats. I just boil mine a couple at a time in a saucepan with a couple inches of water in it.
Recipe makes 8 bagels (I'm going to try and halve it next time)
Here's the recipe: http://www.abeautifulmess.com/2013/02/everything-bagels.html
PS: for more authentic "NY style bagels" skip the egg wash and add malt to the water bath instead. I also sub high gluten bread flour for a better crumb. All purpose, or some combination of whole wheat and white will work fine too.0 -
Thanks GiggityGoo!0

Sunday night family dinner. Roast chicken, salad and roasted okra.
Turkey stirfry with really crusty warm bread. I brought some yellow squash from the farmers market and used it in this dish. But it was so bitter that we all picked it out and left it on the side of our plates.
It was actually the first time ALL of us picked something out of a meal. LOL0 -

Mmmm that okra has my mouth watering! It's been too long since I've made some. Bummer about the squash!0 -

I've only ever had Okra prepared the Nigerian way, which is cut up and then boiled so it's slimy.
When I saw this recipe: http://www.tarteletteblog.com/2013/02/recipegluten-free-seared-lamb-chops.html and then okra at the supermarket the next day, I thought I'd give it a try.
I cooked it in the same pan as the chicken, next time I'd do it separately, but it was good.0 -
It's been a comfort food day. Generally horrible week. Needed soup and beans.
My favorite black beans + rice. They're slow cooked with a smoked turkey leg, and a slew of spices. Not a great looking dish.
Tomato Basil Soup + Cave Aged Gruyere + Big Ole' Salad.
and another pic because everything looks better when shot with a real camera.

Ugh I want to learn how to make stuffed peppers so bad!!! It looks so good and doesn't break the calorie/fat/sugar bank.
Search it on skinnytaste.com, they are wonderful and I do believe under 400 calories. And they give you the entire nutritional info for each recipe. Hope this helps:D0 -

Cottage cheese with choc chips, strawberries, chocolate cream cheese and whipped cream. 350 cal and very filling, could make a meal rather than just a dessert.
