I got a hostess gift of lomos de bonito last night, a new ingredient for me. It's a wet salt cured tuna loin. Tried a spanish treatment serving it on tomato slices with toasted almonds and a drizzle of olive oil. Followed by pan fried sole, boiled potato, cucumber salad with dill, carottes rapees.
We concluded that the lomos de bonito tastes a lot like dutch salt herring so will be giving it the dutch herring salad treatment next time.

Red cabbage-beef-bean veg soup. Chasing away the indulgent holiday eating doesn't need to be an austere exercise. This is low-ish fat, very low salt, high fiber, nutrient dense and very satisfying, almost a stew. Getting ready for our 2019 "soup season" to kickoff the re-up of our weight-loss program.

Homemade Boxing Day dinner because the turkey didn't defrost in time on Christmas, haha. Turkey with Asian inspired stuffing (sticky rice, goji berries, golden raisins, chestnuts, walnuts), scalloped potatoes, brussels sprouts.

These figs are super soft and really yummy...unfortunately, not everyone of them in the bags that I buy are super soft...it's usually 1/2 super soft the rest are fine, just not as soft


These bars are most delicious...if you like that vanilla/cakey thing...They are quite sweet

I was gifted some mojama recently. Wow. That stuff is stunningly good.

Lunch was baby gem drizzled with balsamic and sprinkled with Phu Quoc pepper. Thinly sliced mojama drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with toasted almonds. Ryita.
