What's with all the whining?

Maybe its just the people I've been encountering lately, but what is with all of the whining about the holidays?

If you hate it that much then don't participate; make up your own new traditions, or do only what you are comfortable with.

But please, stop whining!

    I am alone on the holidays but I eat all my favorites and watch movies all day. And give my cat tuna. No whining here.

    Christmas can either be a great time of year of a terrible one. Personally, I love it and my b/f does too. We don't let the drama of others spoil our festivities.

    But the wife of a man that works for my b/f passed away from cancer last week. Their first wedding anniversary was the day before she died. Needless to say Christmas is NOT going to be a happy time for him for a long time. People should count their blessings.

    At the very least it's a a day or two off of work. Why do people complain about this?

    OM gosh I am loving having some time off work and to spend it going to visit my family/family coming to visit me also.

    Christmas is a special time of year...don`t want to bring religion into it even though I am a Christian...it can all be about Santa/family and the holiday no need to whine unless it doesn`t have an `h ` in it lol then go for it!!!

    You are totally right also...it is a time for remembering and that can be hard for people also. My Mum passed away 6 years ago 12th December my Grandma 25th Dec. But I am sure they would want me to celebrate and be happy

    But I really do understand it is a difficult time for many x

    I'm a housekeeper. I've worked every Thanksgiving and Christmas for a decade.

    Also, the holidays are very stressful and can be very lonely for some people. I, personally, am a Grinch. Don't particularly like Christmas. (Despite it, in fact.) But I still tell people Merry Christmas and smile when they tell me Merry Christmas and smile. It's not the holiday, it's the fact that other people are being polite enough to send well wishes to me.

    I hate Christmas. But I can get behind the polite and well wishing thing.

    I've had joyful Christmases and those not so joyful. If you come across those having a hard time, why not try and lift them up? Isn't that part of what Christmas is supposed to be about?

    This year it's joyful for me. But I went through divorce and family breakups that made them not so much fun. So when I see someone struggling it's great if I can find a moment or two to try and help them out.

    Trust me everyone, I understand the holidays bring their own sets of circumstances to everyone and I certainly don't begrudge anyone who is suffering. If anything I think those that have true sadness or challenges tend to be more quiet, while the people I'm most frustrated with seem to create most of their own misery.

    You know the ones? The friends or co-workers who insist on overspending, overeating, over drinking, over everything - and then cry about their credit card statement, empty bank account, pants that don't fit, weekends spent with family they don't like, etc. There are many of us out there who would give anything to spend a day or be able to buy a gift for our loved ones who are no longer around. Guess I just want them to take a second and be grateful.

    Whew. Stepping off my soapbox now. :blushing:

    Not for me, but it is double time and a half....Nothing better than 30 hours of pay for 12 hours of work. :smile:
