Re-reading the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon (total of 7 books so far: Outlander, Dragonfly in Amber, Voyager, Drums of Autumn, The Fiery Cross, Breath of Snow and Ashes, and An Echo in the Bone) in preparation for book #8 (Written in My Own Hearts Blood) being released in late 2013. Can't wait! Awesome series - if you haven't read them, check them out!

Just finished Gone Girl.. Was very disappointed with the end. It was such a good book until the last quarter of it. :ohwell: I'll probably go back and read the new Bernard Cornwell book again (my favorite author!).

aarrrghhhh I am starting this tonight and my niece who recommended it said exactly the same thing you did. Now I HAVE to read it...so I can be all nice and psd off.

Yup, I'm w/you---great book though, Gone Girl. but was a little perplexed at the end. read the other Gillian flynn novels too, Sharp Objects and Dark Places and both are really good....definitely worth reading.

I would recommend Tana French, an Irish author, I have read all her books, most recently Broken Harbor---but love all her stories and writing. Also just finished Richard Russo's memoir Elsewhere...really great. Am reading Cascade by Maryanne O'hara now, it's ok, not sure I'd recommend it.

I just finished The Dog Stars by Peter Heller; an odd little post-apocalyptic fantasy. Superb characterization, I recommend it if you are open to this sort of story.

Tonight I picked up The Hobbit to reread and also (new to me) Catch Me by Lisa Gardner, and At the Mouth of the River of Bees by Kij Johnson.

I read a lot and will probably have finished these by the end of next week.

Just went back and read the rest of the thread -- you all have good taste in books! And some I haven't read (now waiting in my Amazon cart) -- and my son would love the Art of War graphic novel (he's hard to buy books for). Thanks!
