I'll be 34 in May...my profile pic is from this year (age 33) with my son...I plan on wearing a bikini when I am 35 and beyond.

WOW you look amazing! Especially after having a child. I really hope I look that good when I'm in my 30's!

Well the great thing about being in your thirties is you could care less what a 20 year year old thinks of you in your bikini! I will wear whatever I damn well please as long as I'm alive and having fun and I don't care what anyone else says.

    WOOT!! I concur!!

I think we should all just go the beach nakey and enjoy ourselves,,, but that's just me. I've been to Europe, and I'm an adult.

Please, wear whatever you like. If I don't want to see it, I won't look.

Okay I don't mean to offend anyone so I hope I dont get any hate messages lol just my opinion. BUT I think that you are like over the age of like...35...If you have an awesome body than that is GREAT good for you. Like I hope that when I get to that age that I look good. But I personally thing that once your at a certain age no matter HOW good you look...I think women should wear a one piece bathing suit instead of 2 pieces. I dunno. I tell my own mother this too. I just feel that it looks like your trying to hard to look young. They make very cute and sexy one pieces now.

Thats just my opinion. I hate seeing celebrities that are older wear 2 pieces.

oh god I really hope i dont get hate messages.

LOL!! How about you revisit this idea when you're like... 35.
There's alot of people that some of might rather not wear a bikini at ages much younger than that. How about a 9 year old, for example? No hate here - just another perspective to consider.

I work in the field of social work and agree with you it is inappropriate for young kids to be wearing bikinis. But at the same point, I am almost in my 30's and as much as I may want to wear the mini skirts or itti bitti bikini's I know that its just not acceptable. Its really not flattering. Skin isn't as firm and supple looking anymore no matter how fit you are. Its just not sexy. And really the kind of men that will attract is the kind of men that typically most women dont want to attract. The men you do want to attract will be sitting back thinking the same thing.... too old for a bikini.
They make very sexy and figure flattering 1 pc bathingsuites now. Plus I have heard and read many surveys that say men prefere mystery and like it when a women is covered up vs over exposed.

Although this woman doesn't appear to be 35, and she may have the right.... uh.... "body shape"... to wear it, I do NOT approve of her wearing a bikini!!!

Hope a couple of you get a laugh outta that!!

I was wondering why she was wearing a leather jacket at the beach.

Haven't tried it but imagine I couldn't do it.
Wouldn't want sand in my nether regions. :blushing:
But now, I wouldn't mind a day at a nudist colony, enjoying being naked without anyone gawking or looking at my nekkidness.

I hope and pray that at 35+ I can wear a bikini...dang that is young to me! I say if you got it, flaunt it. There can be tasteful two pieces...and some women look dang good when they're 50, and they can totally wear a bikini. I think it's on an individual basis...everyone should celebrate their fitness in his or her own way, and if that means wearing a bikini or a shorter skirt, then I say go for it! :drinker:

The first hour is nerve racking, the second hour a little wierd,,, by the 3rd hour you basically forget about it. Unless you see something/someone unusual.

Very nice/normal/natural, totally no biggie. But like I said, I'm not a 6 year old who giggles if I see peepee parts.

Amen! I don't have a bikini body and probably never will, but if I did, at any age, damn skippy I'm wearing it. Also, maternity isn't any more of a factor in my decision than age. Being a mother does not negate my sexuality..that smacks of Madonna/*kitten* thinking, and I hate that crap.
Skin isn't as firm and supple looking anymore no matter how fit you are. Its just not sexy.

You have no idea what my skin looks like--in fact, it's in better shape than it was in my twenties.

I am so glad that I don't let what random men think about me curtail my expression of my personality.

Sorry if this is snappish, but some of the attitudes in this topic are really annoying. Why is it still-in 20freakin10-society's place to valuate a woman based on her looks rather than her accomplishments?

Oh, and CasperO totally has the right idea--no clothes at all!!! WOOT!

At 49, I think of someone who is 35 as being quite young.

That said, my abs are better now than when I was 35 or even 20, so why shouldn't I wear a two-piece?

    HA! Well played.
  • I'm 27 and never in my life have I had a body I felt confident enough about to wear in a bikini... so if I have one at 35+ then I'll be damned if some little 20-something year old is going to tell me what is/isn't appropriate.

Also, if you don't like what someone is wearing... don't look at them! That's easy enough, isn't it?

I totally disagree! Just my opinion though! I think no matter what age you are if you feel good in a 2 piece, wear it. I've only wore a 2 piece twice in my life, when I was a baby and in my early 20's. I HOPE I have a body hot enough to rock a 2 piece when I'm 35 and older. C-section scar and all, I don't care, if I got it, I'm going to flaunt it!

I think I understand what the OP was trying to say. But I dont think it has so much to do with age as tastefulness and being age appropriate. Everyone here probably knows someone that is "trying too hard" and it is not flattering.

However I was in the BEST shape of my adult life when I was 33-38yrs.
My problem was I didnt know it then and still thought I was fat!!! :noway: Wore a one piece even in my backyard. Oh, how I wouldn't love to be that "fat" right now. In fact my goal weight right now is 5 lbs heavier than I was then !
If you want to feel better about your body image , go to the beach in your one piece(me) and see the nasty bikinis walking around you,,,,,, of all ages! You'll feel better instantly.

I do think OP will feel differently when she is closer to the ripe old age of 35 , those were my glory days!

I will wear a two-piece bathing suit until I die. I will wear one when I'm 70. And if anyone doesn't like it, they don't have to look.

    Haha! Uh... yup!

I look much better in a bikini now (30) than I did at 24 and at 35 I plan to look even better. There are ways to look classy and ways to look skanky at any age and I don't think it's a matter of bikini or one-piece.

*Edit* to say that my first reaction upon reading this wasn't anger just "Oh, isn't that adorable." Similar to when I was looking for 55 year-old women for an experiment and some of my undergraduate students suggested (completely sincerely) that I go check local nursing homes. I laughed the rest of the day.

LMAO!!! I think *I* will be laughing the rest of the day! That's just hysterical!!! Thanks for the chuckle!!!

    for their age.....LOL
    I agree if u have it flaunt it....if u don't..cover up...regardless of age
I'm glad I missed the memo that like...35 was ancient since I will be 37 in a few mnths

BTW, you look awesome Gogo

Ok, I just want to re-iterate...I am a 20-something and I ADMIRE a good looking older woman in a bikini. Good for her for keeping up with her fitness with a hubby, kids, a full-time job, and whatever else. I aspire to be that woman someday...

The only man I want to attract is my husband, and I hope to hell he's not sitting back thinking I'm too old for anything!
  • Also, to the OP, anytime you say "I don't mean to offend anyone BUT...." it's pretty clear that you know you will offend someone and you don't care. Which is fine, but don't bother with the preface.

Two thumbs way up! When I was in my early twenties, I thought I knew everything and was at 'the peak' of my life. Five years later, in my late twenties and I'm like, 'Lord, I HOPE that wasn't the peak of my life!!!' Now I don't care what anyone younger than me thinks. I've only got one life, and I'll be damned if I'm not going to squeeze every precious last drop of fun out of it!

Being a 20-something that doesn't wear bikinis, I admire the women that have the confidence to rock one no matter age/size! Everytime we go on vaca I see women who are 6 sizes too big or 60 years too old for their itty bitty bikinis, but for them to have the confidence to wear it is awesome.
