How many miles can you run?

  • 4 miles is the farthest I've gone so far. I'm planning on doing either 4.5 or 5 miles today or tomorrow. I expect that 5 miles will be my max, due to time constraints. But I'm still really proud of that, because I just started running in August and never thought I could run at all. I love and hate it at the same time, but I am always up for the challenge of a run. I'm so impressed with ya'll running so much farther....great job!

Most I have ever done in a single run is 15. I am training for my first marathon. I am fiercely proud of the fact that i have never ever ran a single mile on a treadmill no matter how gnarly the weather.

    I started running using c25k in June 2012 and run 10k 2 maybe 3 times a week

I have never been on a treadmill either! Although I don't have the same gnarly weather bragging rights that you do.

10 miles was the farthest I have ever run many years ago. I did get 8 this morning. Planning on running a half marathon this year :-)

I just started training for a 15K. Right now, my longest run is 3 miles!! I'll be up to 4 by next Saturday (hopefully)
  • I just started running again and I am supper slow. I can do 2 miles but it takes me 25 minutes.

Nonstop (no walk breaks) I have run 5 or 6 miles. With walk breaks, 13.1 miles (half marathon at 3:2 run/walk intervals) and it took 3 hours. But I figure even running half a mile is better than what I could run a year ago, which was literally a block or less. Practice makes perfect!

The farthest I've gone was 13 miles.. but it really depends on the pace. If I run at 9 or 9.5mph I could probably go longer..

    :)

50km (31 miles) is my furthest. That was inOctober. I have run 26.2 miles x7 in races and about another 6 times in training.

The most is 13.1.. My base run is 3 miles, I ran 6 today (long run day).. a few weeks ago, I ran 9 on long run day. It just depends on what I feel running. I can just take off out the door and run as long as I want..

13 is the most I've done, not done it much though, 10 miles is normally enough for me, although I would love to do the marathon (didn't get in for this year but will apply for next)!

I hate running when its cold though, so for now I tend to aim for around 10 miles per week, but that normally increases when its warmer! I have a 10 mile charity run in May :)

I was running 6 to 7 miles before I had a bad horse riding accident, it took me over a year to recover(I couldn't even walk for three months). Now I'm running 3 miles, I could probably go further but my 12 year old daughter started running with me.

How many miles can you run? (outdoors) :-)

    Continuously, or over a week?

I typically do 5-6 miles runs (kinda) daily, with a long run for about 10 or so. Averaging about 30 miles per week.

13.1 - but that was before I got injured. Working my way back up there.

Heh. I run a lot more miles now than I did when I first answered this in 2013.

Longest recent run was 12 miles at a good pace. A few years back I did a 100 mile endurance run but that averaged a ~14 minute/mile pace throughout, so I wasn't running straight through the whole time.

All in a row? Right now, 3.5 miles.

I've done 2 half marathons and I'm going to start training for a 3rd pretty soon, but even then, I didn't run 13.1 miles straight. I schedule walk breaks - usually a .15 mile walk break every 2 miles.

13.2 has been the max for me. I don't have time for anything more.

I've run a marathon, but didn't care for it too much. The training time alone is not worth it. I have three kids in sports so trying to find a 3-4 hours on a Saturday to do long runs really is not feasible. I prefer shorter, faster races. I do many 5Ks a year. Longest training time is 90 min runs about twice a month. That's 10-12 miles depending on how much I weigh.

Longest run thus far is 15 miles for marathon training. Last week, long run was 12 miles.

Got off track over the holidays and decided it'd be smarter to work back into it slowly. Kinda glad I did - got a sizable pace bump in the process. Give me about a month (and no injuries) and I should beat 15 miles.

I think the longest I've done is 7 or 8 miles, but it's been awhile since I ran. I sprained my ankle pretty badly in Dec. and started classes (working FT, and FT grad student... also active politically and it's an election year) and got busy again in Jan. so I haven't been out since Dec.

When I graduate, I would like to train for longer trail runs and eventually get into ultra-running on trails. I saw an advertisement for a 888k trail run recently (551 miles), and I probably won't ever get to that level, but maybe a few years after graduating, I can work up to 50-100 mile runs.

So far I started running last year and just did a few 5k's (1 road, 2 trail - 1 of the trails was at night and the other trail I did twice as they were staggering start times and let me go through twice). In free time, I did some trail running of 7-8 miles at the most.

Wow...!! You guys are amazing!!! I thought me running 6 miles was the bomb lol got a lot of work to do =)

It is the bomb. That's more than most people can do.

My longest is 26.54 miles because I obviously can't run good tangents.

Running? Or jogging? Running, the most I have gotten to is a mile, 8 minutes. I cannot string those together, one only, and that's the fastest I could do it.

Jogging, I can do two now (recovering from a double whammy of injury and unrelated surgery) and was up to 5 miles last year, that's my goal, or whatever I can do in one hour, I would like to be able to jog for an hour.

I run outside. In the morning, early. Never on a treadmill.
