Come clean

Who else gets to the checkout at the grocery store with a cart full of fresh veges, fish and meat with little or no processed foods and secretly hopes that the cashier will comment?

No. Other people's food choices are none of my business. If I'm going to judge people, it's going to be for a better reason than what they eat.

I don't think I mentioned anything about judging.

    Gee, you sound nice.

Sorry hun, you'll never see shame on my face, and my grocery cart is regularly stocked with the items you listed.

I actually feel kind of self-consciously embarrassed, as though my choices stick out too much and someone might feel judged because of it.

Good to know some people out there are actually feeling superior about it.

    Too Funny!
I hope that other people notice.
But this is only because one time in Walmart.... no joke!
I had an overweight older man in front of me with horrible food and then i was behind him with my fruits and veggies and tuna.

A grandma with her grandchild were behind me cute little girl,
but I could hear them and I'm pretty sure the guy in front too but they were talking about how my food was much healthier
    then all his processed stuff.
HAHA I held my head so high walking out there... :)

Oh God, starting to regret starting this thread already. I should have learned by now it's almost impossible to do anything light hearted around here.

How do I delete it?

I did have one lady gripe at her daughter, point at my buggy and comment "See how nice he stacks the items in his buggy? Don't just throw that stuff in there like it's the bottom of your closet."

Your original post wasn't that bad. Unfortunately, someone came in right behind you and decided to pass judgement upon the rest of us.

Anywho, to answer your question, send a PM to one of the mods and request that they delete the thread.

To be fair, you didn't. I should have quoted as to avoid that. Sorry.

I once commented on the guy in front of me because 1) he had a ton of veggies and one piece of chocolate - it seemed like such a good balance! And 2) he had veggies I have no idea how to cook, but often go into juicing, like beets and what looked to be kale, so I asked if he knew how to prepare them all or if he juiced. He was quite flustered by the whole exchange. Maybe he thought I was making fun of him, but I was genuinely impressed and curious.

I don't hope anyone comments... but I do feel proud of myself. I also have that lurking voice (I call her the fat girl)... she whispers to me that everyone else is probably looking at my *kitten* and thinking "why bother?" or thinking I have ho-hos stashed in my car console or something... LOL. BUT... I tell that fat ***** to shut up and stuff a carrot in her mouth!! HA

I use self checkout whenever I can to avoid judgmental people in the regular lines. Plus I hate strangers talking to me, let alone commenting on my purchases.

When I was heavier and buying lots of fruits and veggies with no junk food in my trolly, I would occasionally wonder if the cashier couldn't figure out why I was so fat with all the healthy stuff I was buying or if they were thinking, "here's another dieter". I quickly realized that it was a poisonous way of thinking and will pinch myself if I ever get into that kind of frame of mind again. That was several years ago and I can safely say, this thread is the first time I've thought about it in a long, long time.

Every time someone buys a honey bun or coke from my store, I just look at them and say, "do you even know how many calories is in that??" Then I suggest they eat eggs for breakfast and salad for lunch.

I don't really pay it too much mind if I have a large variety of things. However, I do wonder what the cashier is thinking when my items consist of, say, 2 dozen condoms, wood glue, popsicles, and peanut butter.

Or... duct tape, vodka, nylon rope, and a cheap pink stuffed animal. And pretzel M&M's

i used to do a lot of shopping for someone else's house. it was always fun checking out one cart in two transactions.

1st transaction: frozen pizzas and snack foods, "lunchables", cheese, puddings, hamburger helper, spaghetti os

2nd transaction: a bunch of produce, dried lentils, maybe some fresh fish fillets, whole wheat flour.

    .
    .
.i had a cashier once ask if i had a credit card that penalized me for unhealthy food (wtf? i don't think that's a thing).

Okay, this I understand. I definitely feel proud of myself for making good choices. But I have no desire for anyone else to comment on it to make me feel better about myself. I am the only approval I need.

My local and grocery store cashier had to ask me what my cucumber, kale, and zucchinis were so she could ring them in. Does that count?

I was a checkout cashier once and frankly didn't care what people were buying as long as my scan per minute times were good.
