Before, I always used to look older for my age. Now im losing weight people ask me how old I am, and when I say im 25 they really cant believe it, They thought I was about 18 maximum 20. I live in the uk, and I seem to get asked a lot for ID now when buying alcohol, I was never really asked before.
  • Well, happily, people have noticed that I have lost weight, but the biggest surprise is that some people ask if I have been ill, or if I lost weight because of stress in my life. That was surprising. I only lost 35 pounds and I am down to 180, so I wonder why people would assume that I have been ill. And relative to stress, I tend to eat more when my stress level rises.
  • I am more tolerant of others and less judgemental. I never realized that I used a "judge others before they judge you" defense mechanism until I lost weight.

Instead of assuming the worst when I meet someone new, I expect to like them, and for them to like me. It's much nicer that way!

I was just going to post this! I find that I'M a nicer person and more open to meeting new people and trying new things when I don't have to worry about my weight being an issue, it's actually less effort to have a better outlook on life than waiting for life to give you a kick in *kitten*!

As a guy, and I apologise if this is rather crude

My junk has like an extra inch if not 1.5 inches through losing the weight :D I was already average so now I just look like a monster...

    WOO WOO :D

    How you doin?!
  • I HATE the way my face looks now. I'm so sad about it. I've worked so hard to lose this weight and still have 30 pounds to go and I hate to look at pictures of myself now. I look so wrinkled, old and tired. Everyone else on here looks so much younger and healthier in their after pictures. :-(

I don't see that in your picture - but I know that how you see yourself is different. I feel like that sometimes too - like - where did that mini-waddle in my neck come from? How do I get rid of it? I just have to tell myself that I will never be perfect but that I still look a LOT better than I did overall.
  • since no guys have said it. apparently every 30-40lbs you lose youre little soldier is said to gain an inch.

now, im not sure cause i dont have two yardsticks to properly measure but.....

    LOL!!!!! Good one!

  • the biggest surprise was that when I looked in the mirror, I still saw the fat girl. It took quite a long time to truly see myself as I now was as opposed to how I used to be.

This was a surprise to me as well. I still see myself as much bigger than I actually am. I look at other women who wear the same size clothes as me and they register in my head as being much smaller even though I know logically they can't be. I hope my brain catches up soon!

I'm not sure if it was the tight shirt that shows my ample bosom, or that I am just happier these days, but yeah, I got winked at by a young guy while I was going into the grocery store. hee hee

The horrible flabby loose skin on my tummy. :-( I've lost about 35lb since July last year, and while I love how I look now (although I'm not done yet!), if I lie on my side or lean forward, I have this horrible wrinkly squelchy stuff. Euuch.

On the bright side, I'd forgotten how much I love my collarbones! :-)

I've had a few suprises, some good and some not so great. I've lost 57lb since Jan 2012.

    Good:
I only did cardio for a year and no weights and the extra skin from having two kids via c-section is almost all gone!
I get compliments constantly and asked if I'm 20-21(I'm 28)
    I have abs!
I fit into my first 2 piece bathing suit since 2006!
While in Disneyworld at the pool with my kids, I got hit on by a guy who wasnt 21 haha

    Bad:
I cannot stop seeing the "old" me
I am more self conscious than I was before
Now I am almost diet and workout obsessed and sometimes its not good

I get more response out of people for everything I do and say now, granted I know it's because i'm not a fatbody anymore it's still awesome to have people show interest.

:noway: Bad: I'm freezing all the time (my heater is on right now at work), loose skin (YUCK!), sometimes it feels as if my bones are protruding through my butt when sitting.

 Good: I'm no longer in size 22/24/26/28...now in 8/10. My shoes size went from a 9 years ago to a 7 1/2. Boots fit and I love my over-the-knee boots and sweater dresses. I have collar bones too!!!! :) I get hit on by younger men and more men in general. Love to shop (maybe this is bad). LOL My self esteem is much better!!!!

The attention from the opposite sex, the last time anyone asked me out I was at University, that was nearly 8 years ago! Since I've lost weight, I get a lot of compliments and have had quite a few guys ask me out, it's very flattering, but I take it with a pinch of salt, as there will always be a part of me that is hurt people couldn't see past the outside to who I am as a person....I guess it will take time to adjust to the attention.

I get MUCH better service in shops, it's actually been a real eye-opener....before when I shopped for clothes (heck even when I went grocery shopping), it was like I was invisible, now shop assistants say hello to me and ask if i need any help, even bringing me different sizes in changing rooms, it's been a revelation.

My confidence and self-esteem have really improved, I feel good about myself and I think that now shows through, I'm more outgoing and have a tonne of energy. My outlook on life is more positive, I'm actually thinking about switching careers, to do something I've always wanted to do, I would never have even thought about it last year when I was 70lbs heavier!

The funny thing is I now have bones hahah....hip bones and collar bones, I haven't noticed those....well...since forever! The bad is that I am always cold!

My stretch marks are almost invisible.... I had some stretch marks on my love handles (love handles that are GONE now) and on my arms. I can't even see them anymore, I love it! :)

My confidence has gone way up. Not necessarily with how I look, but in what I can accomplish. I feel pretty confident telling people I can run 4 miles a day, and I have no problem flexing my biceps. ;)

I have had 4 people not even recognize me. FOUR people! These are people I have met 5-10 times before. And they have all said "I'm not sure we've met" or "hi, I'm such and such" and each time I'm slightly offended that I am not that memorable, yet slightly pleased that I have changed my look so much that I don't even seem like the same person. Aside from dropping the weight, I have gained confidence and a better sense of style. I take care of myself more. So much, I guess I am a new person, ha :)
