    Lifting: 2-3
    Cardio: 2-3

So 4-6 total, depending on what's happening (right now training for a 1/2 marathon, so less lifting, more running, especially when long runs get over 90 min)

I exercise for about 45-60 minutes per session, whether cardio or weight lifting. I lift weights 4 times per week. I do cardio 2-3 times a week. Grand total of about 5-6 hours a week.

I do 5.5 hrs cardio and approximately 2.5hrs of lifting a week. Sounds crazy when it's added up!

12 weight training sessions a week, each about 1 - 1.5 hours long depending on the muscle group trained.

This month I started out at 5xs a week about 40 minutes each.
Next month I want to do 6xs a week at least an hour each, hopefully an hour & 1/2 3xs/wk.

8 hours per week of cardio just 160 miles on exercise bike up and down - approx 11000-12000 calories
One rest day per week which is really difficult to enforce
    Works for me
  • I do about 14-15 hours a week. Just checked my MFP records, interesting, I thought it was a lot less than that!

Depends. I'll go with an average though
    2x runs @ 45 mins
    2x strength @ 20 mins
    1x yoga @ 60 mins

Sometimes I skip yoga & do an extra strength or run. Sometimes I will do an extra strength or run on a weekend too.
I'm averaging just under 3 hours. This doesnt include travel time.

I lift aprox 2 - 2 1/2 hrs per week and cardio 3 - 4 hrs per week. Calculating it really makes me think I need to step up the lifting !! lol

I was thinking the same thing...when I typed it up, it seems like I'm doing so much more cardio than lifting and I don't necessarily want that. Hmmm...

Based on what I read, you're pretty maxed out for time spent in the gym. And it's good you've added strength training to a heavy cardio work out. Try to mix up the type of cardio you do so your body doesn't adapt. Also, steady state cardio will break down your muscle growth, so mix it up with some interval training, HIIT, plyometrics, tabata...stuff like that ;)

I'll do an hour of strength and 30 min cardio about five days a week, cus I'm more concerned with building muscle.

Good luck! You're doing great :) Make sure you're eating enough food to fuel that training or your wear yourself out :)

Thank you!!! Yes, my cardio is all different. I do one day of HIIT, one day of hill work, one day of spin and one day of steady state, and then sometimes some climging/stepping, so I do a different form of it each day. I hope that is what I should be doing! HIIT and hills are my favorite though. :)
  • I do a weights-based exercise class called body pump once a week (if you haven't tried it before, I highly recommend!) plus 4 sessions in the gym of 1-1.5 hours cardio and a lot of stretching. I also try to get out on a long walk in the peak district once a fortnight!

    Jess :-)

I love the variety everyone does here. I guess I kind of am doing an average amount of time. But also makes me feel better if I need to skip a cardio session one week!

Circuit Training is 1.5-2 hours a week and cardio is no less than 2 hours per week so a little over 4 hours per week.

If I do everything in my plan, a little over 7 hours (my lifting workouts vary in length). Two hours of that are pure cardio, two hours iare yoga, and the rest is filled with warmup, lifting, and HIIT.

I try to get in at least an hour a day. Some days it's 45 minutes circuit training at my gym, 1.5 hours of bowling, and 15 minutes on my WII fit. Other days it could be 45 minutes curcuit training at my gym and an hour on my WII fit or Just on hour on the WII Fit for my easy days. Since I started MFP I don't think I've missed a day of some sort of workout.
