I'm 26 years old and when i got on the scale the 28th of Jan i was 301 i cried when i was alone. i knew it was time for me to lose weight and i didn't know where to start. so i told my friends and family on fb and my mom pointed out that my 10 yr hs reunion is coming up June 2014 and i set a weight loss goal of 130 lbs. from where i was that would put me at 170. a coworker told me about this app and site and i love it. I've seen changes in my weight and measurements since then even thought it is water weight I've lost some center-meters and lbs. I've cut my calories to no more then 1200 a day and as much protein per meal and snack as i can get. I'm finally starting to feel beautiful and i love that. i am recently engaged and when i walk down the isle in a few years i want to be the slim healthy woman that will make my fiances mouth drop when he sees me.

So, I'm waiting to hear an update from the original poster... how are you doing?

For the record, I had an epic fail on making smart food choices last week. Then I had an epic win when I got right back on track.

The site is great! Just don't beat yourself up too much if you are slightly off with your numbers here and there and keep plugging along. Don't give up even if you slip up, it won't be the end of the world! Surround yourself with friends who are serious about aiding your efforts and dump those who are not. Add me if you would like :-)

Hi there. I lost 33 lb working with a lifestyle specialist at my doctor's office, but have gained about 8 lb back and am now trying to follow the same thing on my own (the visits were getting expensive). A different doctor recommended this site and I think it's going to help a lot. I still have lots to loose, but finally have some hope. I guess the attitude to have is to never give up, even if there are setbacks (and there will be). You can only fail if you don't keep trying.

Yep, I can relate to that. We all have our good and bad days but the main thing is, making sure that we get back on track. It's a lifestyle change and to the OP, you have to really want it and be prepared to work for the results that you are after.

MochaMixAZ, love the message in your MFP ticker image!

They only way to fail is to give up before you have even started. Setbacks are normal. Office birthday cakes are normal. Not wanting to hit the gym during "that time of month" is normal (at least for me!) Not to sound like a cliche, but this is a marathon, not a sprint. Give yourself a longterm goal. Then give yourself a short term, attainable goal, i.e. participating in a 5k in a month, fitting in a new dress before an upcoming event, whatever motivates you but has a short enough timetable for you to go balls to the wall for it. But don't forget to cut yourself some slack – you are human!
