Well I know a Dr. named Gross as well as know a cop named Gross. I can only imagine what they had to put up with growing up and probably still to this day. I have a friend who's last name is Payne. I know he's heard it all too.

My parents' names are D*ick and Jane. There's been lots of the old D*ick and Jane book-related gifts over the years. And no my name isn't Sally!

    Was your dog named Spot?

We had a dog, but he wasn't Spot thank goodness.

My mom is very self-conscious about calling out my dad's name in public--makes sure to call him "Richard" if she has to yell out his name in public!

I just found this thread and have been laughing so hard! I thought I'd bump it in case anyone else missed it!

I don't have anything funny, just unusual:
    1. I had an aunt whose married name was Mary Christmas.
    2. In my family tree there are people named California and Arkansas.
    3. I went to school with a girl named Grace Lord. Good thing is wasn't Mercy Lord.
    4. My kid's dentist used to be Dr. Spitz.

The worst I've ever heard of was a little girl whose leagal name was "Talula Does the Hula From Hawaii". True story. A judge had to get involved because she was so embarrased about it.

My grandmas maiden name was "Snodgrass".

Also, my cousin's name is Purvis... it's just unfortunate, considering he's in 9th grade, so terribly short, has moobies, and only has one friend (both of whom are very weird). I love the kid to death but dear god I hope he gets tall soon.

    LMAO!!!! What is Moobies?!!! LMAO!~!!

My husband worked with a Richard eyres, refused to be called ****... (pronounced airs, try out loud). We used to joke that his wife was called fanny and his two kids were short and curly...

I remember a Jack Russell, a lady called rose who then married a Mr rose..

Have also come across a Dr called de-ath.
Whenever I see the surname Bates, I always want to use the title master....

Not sure why the short version of Richard not allowed....

I once had a patient named La-a. So I pronounced it correctly, she stood up with an attitude and a finger and told me it was pronounced Ladasha. I looked at her like she had three eyes on her forehead. People are idiots......
