Because pretending perfectly healthy one food is another perfectly healthy food is absurd.

    Quoting myself:
 It's NOT guac. Nothing could ever replace the real deal. This is something different, but in the same spirit. Also, you can eat ridiculous quantities of it, which is always a win in my book.

Chill. It's broccoli. Broccoli dip. Better?

    lol, seriously.

I love guac as much as anyone else, but I also like eating mass quantities of green dip-substances without the large calorie price tag.

Edit: No one ever said to sub guac for this.. It's a guac-like substance made from a different food item. I don't understand why people get their panties in a bunch. Don't like it? Don't freaking make it. You're welcome.
  • I know it won't taste like guacamole but do you promise it's really delicious? I recently found out I'm allergic to avocados and have been in mourning. :( But eating guacamole and having my tongue get tingly and my throat close up just isn't worth it.

OMG I'm not alone with the allergic to avocado curse! I thought I was the only one. IMO broccomole tastes better then guac. I haven't tried the recipe that OP posted but I'm sure it still tastes awesome

My husband is a purest and I totally scammed him on faux mashed potatoes. I am willing to try anything new to get some new vegetables on our table. I can't wait to try this.

I like broccoli, but I like avocados enough to jump on the exercise bike for a half hour if I gotta.

I made mine with sour cream and added a bit of cumin. we had it on our cheeseburgers tonight and the while family loved it! I even took some to the neighbors house- their kids won't eat broccoli and even they were all over it! yum!

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Why in gods name would you replace avocados?????? They're SUPER healthy!!!

For me personally, my answer to this is because avocados are nasty AND I'm terribly allergic to them. It's nice to have a tasty, creamy dip that isn't super fatty & is low in cals.

    Here you go!

    Ingredients

    3 cups chopped broccoli
    1 jalapeno, chopped, seeds removed
    2 tbs green onions
    1 tsp olive oil
2 ounces fat free cream cheese (or silken tofu, goat cheese, sour cream, cashew cream, something creamy)
    1/4 tsp chili powder
    1 tbs cilantro
    1/4 tsp salt
    1/4 tsp black pepper
    1/4 tsp garlic powder
    Instructions

    1. Cook the broccoli in lightly salted water until very soft. Overcook the broccoli in comparison to the al dente cooking that most recipes recommend.
    2. Drain broccoli very well.
    3. Transfer to a food processor. Add the remaining ingredients and process until smooth, add additional olive oil for a smoother texture.
    4. Serve warm

I used light cream cheese, not no-fat, and added a touch of cumin, but otherwise followed the recipe to a T.

Thanks for sharing this; it looks wonderful! I'm going to try it this week, but I'll use real cream cheese (no, not Philadelphia, real). (No offense to anyone using any other thing in place of that--just a heads up--if you can buy or make the real deal, it is totally worth it.)

I read about this last night and bought a food processor today.

I made this tonight. It was really good. I mixed it up and then stirred in a bit of cumin and lime juice at the end.
  • Looks so delicious. Thank you for sharing.

I might try this using avocado for the 'something creamy', I mean, if I am going to replace the fats with oil and cream cheese or mayo I might as well just use an avocado which I normally substitute for those other things anyway. (like tuna salad made with avocado and lemon juice instead of mayo, which looks a bit strange but is amazing!)

Ohhhhhhh...I have been looking for something to change up the tuna salad. Great idea - Thanks!
  • Cool idea! I'm going to try it.
