  • At my gym us regulars get our own designated lockers... just so we can be sure to always have one. My friends lost some weight and then got slack and started to regain it. I was trying to get her to come with me and she said-
"i can't ..... i have lost my locker key" !!! I mean seriously!!!! I offered her to share mine and she said her stuff wouldnt fit!!!!
    Beat that for worst excuse!

My excuse is that I am not a people person and I can't justify paying for a gym membership when I am perfectly capable of working out at home or outside (plus it is more enjoyable). Plus putting food on the table trumps having to pay my gym membership.

Yes! Walking in the snow or shoveling snow is an awesome workout and the worst excuse for not working out!

I absolutely love your ticker!!!!!! I want an adipose tattoo!

Yours is so cute too! I love that tattoo idea!

My excuse is always that I'm too tired or don't have the energy. I always have to remind myself how much more awake and AWESOME I feel after I go for even a quick run/jog.

    "I forgot my workout clothes."

(My gym actually loans out clean workout clothes.)

"They don't have any in my size."
  • 'I'm having a fat day...'
Hey, I know how to prevent that in the future... ;)

    1) its snowing xx

    Really? Ever spin out?
Except if its a blizzard. I guess then you can shovel.

Yeah...I live 30 miles from anything like a gym...so snow may very well be a good reason to stay home.

I'm with the OP on this one.

I have a friend that actually signed up for a gym membership for NY resolution, but has yet to come. I asked her why...

She said she wants to lose weight before she starts going so that she doesn't get made fun of.

    *Smacks hand to forehead*

Ha we were slammed by Nemo this weekend. Snow was certainly a valid reason to not go to the gym. It's a hard thing to when you have +18" inches of snow and unclear roads. Shoveling was a good workout though.

I have actually used the "I'm on my period one." but when the cramps are so bad you can barely walk and go home early from work I think that's okay.

I try not to do excuses, if I don't want to go to the gym I just don't go. You're allowed a rest day and as long as you don't make it a habit

My excuse had always been, "I don't have a sitter for my kids."

I'm not going to bother wasting my money on a gym. I can get all the exercise I need at home or outside.

Does that count as an excuse?

    I completely agree.

bad weather/snow is a legitimate reason why someone couldn't go to the gym, and so is having your period if you have bad cramps that day.
Big reason why I DON'T join a gym is there are too many reasons why I wouldn't be able to or want to go. If it requires making that time to go there, paying a membership fee, going out of the house, dealing with other people, and a ton more other factors, there is about a 1 in 9 million chance I'd ever go.
Much rather stay home and do exercise at my own house, for free.

I just hated the drive. It wasn't all that far, only about 6-8 miles to either of the nearest locations of Planet Fitness, but with traffic, it took 25-30 minutes.

It annoyed me because where I live is 10 minutes or less from pretty much everything "important" in the area: the mall, Target, the arena, the casino, at least three good grocery stores, Lowes and Home Depot, all the major restaurants. But there's no affordable (for me, as a cheapskate) gyms in the area.

So any trip to the gym was immediately 2+ hours out of my day, because I didn't want to spend more time driving than I spent there.

Buying my own weights for home was in the top ten good decisions I ever made. Other than a little bit of slacking around the holidays and intentional rest/breaks/deloads/whatever their called, I've stuck with my run 3x a week and lift 3x a week schedule since July. Can't really complain about the commute when all I have to do is walk upstairs or go outside.

I worked all day and I am tired!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • My biggest excuse is always related to my son (15 months old). I can't go in the morning because my gym doesn't open until 5 and most days he's up by 5:30. Can't go in the evenings because I feel guilty for being away from him all day and we only have limited family time.

I solved that problem by joining a new gym close to where I work so I can get my workouts in on my lunch hour!

when I moved further away from work and had a longer commute (2 hrs each way), it was miserable... but I didn't want to go to the gym at work bc I would mess up my hair.

Now I either scrunch it up or pin it back afterwards :-)
