lots of congratulations all around! nicole, way to use that + self talk! and melissa, how healthy to take that bad feeling and turn it into POWER HOUR! trish, i really admire your self control. i don't share treats well at all. glad to hear that grace is feeling a bit better. by us, it's been soooo windy which makes allergies that much worse. the pollen and the dust just swirl everywhere.

btw, wondering what to do with those extra easter eggs now or after--play this FUN game.
    http://tiredneedsleep.blogspot.com/2010/03/easter-egg-games.html

my 9 y.0.even likes it. we play it with the rule of 2 turns max, and there are lots of empty eggs in the basket too (which means turn over). turns over when you get an egg w/o the chick but non-egg hatching animal like a cow. all 3 find it a crack up!
hs'er's you could also use it for math and graphing--what color eggs, how many empty eggs, counting chicks etc.....

amy, will be thinking good prognosis for tony. how crummy that doing something nice left him injured. :frown:

    and trish--drink that water---198 198 198 198!!!!!! you will!!!!

Well my ticker doesn't show it because of rounding, but I'm down! upping my calorie target did the trick! I must burn more during the day than I thought...

What do you think? I spend about 1/3 of my work day doing admin work on the computer, the rest is carrying, packing, lifting, cutting fabric, all standing stuff and walking around. Then at home I do mostly standing and walking about and a small workout but I count that seperately as exercise when I do it, but I'm mainly parked on the couch from 7pm til 9pm when I go to bed. I put lightly active as my daily activity level. Think maybe I should say active?

I probably won't be back til after Easter now, have to finish my stocktake today, luckily I only have 1 or 2 orders to post out, then it's 4 days off, I'm so looking forward to it (and DST is ending so next week it's gonna feel like 6am when I get up not 5am - what a treat! LOL)

I have my own pattern for the diapers after many years, but there are sooo many free patterns online - if you search free NAPPY pattern as well as diaper pattern you'll bring up all the ones from NZ, Australia and UK as well  And ones that just cost $5 or so.

Well I am truly avoiding my workout right now. Don't love it? I have done this for 8 weeks w/o a break and now I DON'T want to do it. My HRM is even on and ready--ipod plugged in and on my hip. :)

    Here I go--just don't want to!

You'll feel better for it, curlie, and be glad you did! I have those days too... but those are the days you really have to force yourself and get it done anyway!
Today my shin is bugging me, my stomach is bugging me... I want to run, but I kinda don't.

By the way, please sign me up for the "My kid is a monster at nap time & refuses unless I pin her down myself" club.

Sassy- I think should put it as active.

Go Kim! Go Kim! Go Kim!!!

Trish-I would rest your shin. RICE ice for 20 min on, 20 min off. If it continues, you may want to consider new shoes.

Hungry today!!!! I so do like those running cals....the off days are a struggle.

Here's my deal with ice: IT HURTS! I hate icing, because the cold is painful to me. Can I do heat instead? Or just stay off it as much as possible?

    nicolee516 Posts: 1,862 Member
hmmmm...do you put a towel in between you and the ice? I suppose you could try heat and the stretching it...although stretching the shin is really hard to do.

No... growing up my family always just hit me with a bag of ice, and it was always painful. I've had shin problems since I was a little kid. They used to go concave on me. I'm 99% sure it was my shoes that aggravated them today. Me + Airwalks have a history of not getting along. They are great to run to the store in... not so much doing 3 mile walks (2-1/4 at the mall, then running amuck all day with Andy doing school errands). Have already whined at hubby for new shoes, even though my airwalks are hardly worn in.
I wish I could find a regular pair of shoes that feel as nice as my running shoes!

I actually have different stages of my running shoes. Obviously my newest ones I run in, my next one's I walk in them, the next ones I wear them for out shopping etc...older than that and they are subject to mowing the lawn or outside dirty work. Once they hit the mowing the lawn...then it's close to the grave for them! When you start collecting running shoes, maybe you can do the same.

Sassy--it is amazing how active you are and don't really know it. I am pretty much a couch potato at night too but I do a TON during the day. Just the up and down the stairs for laundry is crazy. :) I would put active.

Trish--so sorry about the shins. Mine were killing me on Monday so I hear you girl.

Thanks Nicole--I needed some cheering today.

Some days are so hard. It is nice outside & I just wanted to enjoy it not work. Well I managed to get on that TM and kill it!! I did my whole 40 minutes & RAN 21 minutes of that w/ walking in between my 3 minute intervals. YES! Does that mean I am a runner? I don't consider myself a runner--more of a jogger. Then I went outside and raked leaves for a while--they are in my fence from last fall & bugging me. Total that for 475 calories--okay it was worth it and I still got to be out in the sun. :glasses:

Drinking water, snacking & grading papers now. Dinner's in the oven and smelling wonderful!!!!!

Go hug your kids & tell them that you love 'em. I am battling the blues about #1 leaving for school next fall. It is 6 months away for crying out loud & I am a mess. Prayers for my mental state please? That is most of why I didn't want to work out--major pity party here. And on that happy note. . . .

    198 198 198 198 198 198 198 198(subliminal message here)--you can do it Trish!

Yes, I can get to 198... just not by tomorrow.

Nicole, great plan for shoes. I will definitely employ that! I am hesitant to wear my running shoes anywhere but to the gym, because they're my only pair... maybe I can whine at hubby about being properly fitted for awesome running shoes.

I can't decide if I feel bloated or queasy today. Ugh, when do I go to chiro again? I need my digest button pushed.

hi girls. not much to report on the health front....but i made a lot of progress on my quilt. and i did a lot w/the kids today.

so i feel good on that front.
hs'er--i don't know how you do any housework or exercise!! with all 3 home, i have to be WITH them sooo much. i could quilt only b/c i was in the same room and could thus stop as needed.

better sign off. get them to bed, camp forms finished and then lts out for me.

Stacey you are assuming we get housework done. HA! That I admit is one area that takes a backseat to all the other things going on. I make sure we have clean clothes(most of the time) and that there are meals on the table 3x a day. Other than that--well let's just say it could be better.

We have sickness in the house again. DD#1 is doing the fever & chills thing. Great--I am so happy. She is too--no school for her. :)

Hope everyone has a great day.

Stacey- HA! My house needs cleaned soooooo bad! I am planning on doing that this weekend before my parents come to town. The kids do maintenance...if that's what you want to call it. I call it....trying to teach them responsiblility. As for my exercies...mine are old enough that I take them with me or do it while they are at track practice.

As for me- It's official, I signed up for the avenue of the giants 1/2 marathon! I think I am officially crazy!

Rabbit, rabbit, everyone! (that means good luck). Hope nobody plays jokes on you today. Remember when the weather gets you down that April showers bring May flowers :)

Nicole, I think a person needs to be a little crazy in order to achieve great things.

Really disappointed in my weight loss this week. Haven't really been able to exercise much, but I haven't been over in calories. Scale is not budging much. *Sigh*
Today my other shin hurts. Ugh.

thanks kim and nicole! how silly--but i feel soooo much better knowing that i am not the only one with a less than clean home!
i grew up with a very clean mom--dusted every day, we had to clean the bathroom each day, never dishes left out or coats, and the woman would electric broom the kitchen almost nightly. PLUS we had a cleaning lady one day a week. and it was an 1800 sq ft condo!

trish--dh would take advil every night as a preventative when he started p90x. wd that help your shins?
congratulations nicole! that's awesome that you signed up!

i better go shower. have to leave for gymboree soon. have a great day!!

I have to tell you i'm AWSOME! HAHA no seriously, very proud of myself being back in the weigh loss mind set and on a roll!! I got on the scale and i'm down another 2lbs since MONDAY!! I know I won't lose this quick much longer but I am kicking my butt at the gym and at home. Yesterday I ran 3 miles, went to a spinning class at 12, then another spinning class at 5:30! Crazy I know, there is a reason for my madness I promise. My dh is taking a spinning instructor class and he begged me to go to 2 spinning classes with him yesterday for his "homework". Today is definately a rest day, WOW am I feeling sore today LOL supposed to run but I think after burning 1500 cal yesterday by golly today is couch potato day!

Trish-hang in there girl, I hope your leg gets to feeling better. I have shin problems as well but I have to say after my new pair of shoes I haven't had any problems. The shoe guys at the running stores are a god send , you truely won't regret getting a new pair if you can afford it.

Nicole- I think it's awsome you signed up!! I'm so excited for you 1/2 marathon is amazing, next year I plan on running that one instead of the 10k. I have a black bean brownie reciepe as well, it's amazing how yummy they are let me see if I can find it.

Kim- So glad to hear your workout was great! I always feel so much better if I just get up and do it. Great job! keep up the great work and next time your in a slump remember that workout and how well you did :-)

I hope everyone has a great day, my rest day isn't so much of a rest. ds has a party tomorrow at school so I have to go shopping for that + get something for dinner tonight and our Alaska themed dinner party tomorrow night. Plus I have I need easter stuff for the kids. MAN did this holiday just sneak up on me. Bye girls

I'm pretty sure it's a shoe thing. Been barefoot all day today & all day yesterday, and feeling much better. Now if I could just get caught up on my running! Virtually no exercise this week has me incredibly frustrated with my weight loss.

Stacey - I think we're sisters!! Only difference is we didn't have a cleaning lady and we didn't own an electric broom. I've got SO much cleaning to do before my parents come in Sunday afternoon! Dreading it . . . the cleaning, not the visit. OK if I don't do the cleaning, I'll be dreading the visit!

Trish - Hope your shins are feeling back to normal! How is the bathroom renovation? I didn't get a chance to log in last weekend, so I'm not sure if I missed anything.

Shera - Whoo hoo!! Great job!! :flowerforyou:

Had to return 30-Day Shred to Netflix today. The kids were getting anxious for their movie to come in. Went to Target this afternoon and bought a copy. I'm also proud of myself this afternoon. I was in the car listening to a CD that I got some of my walking songs from, and I was actually visualizing myself walking and looking forward to getting back out walking! I don't have time today with housecleaning and Maundy Thursday service tonight, but I'll be sure to get outside tomorrow!

Amy, Andy started cutting the tile last night. He swears it's going to take him all weekend just to cut it. With any luck, I'll have a shower in my own tub next weekend!

So I'm having a slight psychological problem with food, starting a few weeks ago.
I've somehow gone from still being ravenous after a 3500 calorie Taco Bell meal in October, to "Food is gross, I don't want anything" today.
My body is hungry, but nothing is appetizing. I'm not sure how to deal with it. In the past, before I found MFP, I would have a liquid meal replacement when I felt like this. I'm glad I had some Ensure in the fridge today. I was going to have a Healthy Choice meal, but I just felt "BLECH, I don't want it". I tried taking out some corn dogs, and put them back in the freezer just before the stove finished pre-heating. I don't want anything. Help!

Trish- I get like that too. I go for weeks like that, everything is an effort to eat....then I go for weeks where I cannot stop eating! I can't stuff enough in my gullet and I am still hungry....I wish I had an answer for you. I just force myself to eat because I know I need to, and when I am ravenous...I try to ignore it.:flowerforyou: I hope it makes you fell better that you aren't alone at least.

Yes, that does make me feel better. Thanks, Nicole. Until dinner, I'd only eaten 800 of my calories for the day. Dinner must have been enticing enough, because I had a double portion, and finished the ice cream in the freezer, bringing me up to my calorie goal for the day. It's still a struggle during the day, and by 5pm, I have no desire to cook, but hubby & the kid need to eat.

    Is it a runner thing?

Oh, and has anyone ever had the sensation where they can't tell if they're famished or gonna puke? I mentioned I felt that way yesterday on my facebook page, and my friends had no idea what I was talking about.

    FYI, I'm not pregnant.
  • Stacy - my house is consistently a disaster area and I can only exercise if I do it before everyone else is up in the morning. There are many challenges to homeschooling and a messy house is one but the rewards are so sweet! My mom gave me a magnet that says...Cleaning the house while kids are still growing is like shoveling snow while its still snowing...

Trish- Do you think it could be an appetite suppressant in the system six? I started JM fatburners yesterday and had to force myself to eat yesterday and a little today. Nothing seemed appealing...I was under by more than 500 both days (but over 1200). I'm attributing it to the caffeine or something else in the pills.

Did everyone have a fun April fools day? I got hubby w/ the faucet sprayer this morning and I got the kids really good at lunch time.
I made what looked like chicken and biscuits but it was really vanilla pudding w/ banana chunks (potatoes), green skittles (peas), orange starburst cut in quarters (carrots) over corn muffins. Then for "dessert" they had Turkey meatloaf cupcakes frosted w/ pink mashed potatoes!! They had baby carrots too. It was hilarious. They didn't know what to do w/ themselves. The meatloaf cupcakes were the biggest hit. Isaac wants them for his birthday in lieu of cake b/c he hates frosting lol!
Idk how to add pix on here...

Wishing AF would take a hike. Day 2 and I still feel so bloated and scales are up:grumble:
Beautiful weather coming here this weekend! Excited to celebrate Easter w/ family and friends and enjoy the blessings of spring!

Wow.....I haven't been able to log on in a while! First severe migraines and then a whole round of nasty colds with all the kiddos and myself. It has not been pleasant! But still I managed to survive and everyone seems to be on the road to recovery. DD2 just had her first tooth! So hopefully the fussiness will die down as the swelling in her gums goes down. Had my hubby's birthday yesterday. I have had one cupcake and managed to resist the rest! :) I have the whole family over for Easter this weekend so I've been cleaning the house while sick. I'm so glad I'm feeling better just in time for the final push! Whew!

On a random note, I've been having issues logging food because it switches it to the next day really early for me. *shrug. It makes logging take a long time! :P I log it all in only to discover I've logged it in the wrong day later. lol. Oh well. I have logged in more days than it says, it's just been a bit screwy.

I hope you're all doing well and excited for Easter!

Hey Ladies! Sorry I have been MIA this week. Probably will be like this for the next couple weeks. I am sorta lurking, but still logging my food every day. We set a goal to get everything we need to get done to list the house in 2 weeks...so I am going to be so busy, and my kids are going to be so neglected :( Makes me wish we did this when we first moved in, instead of waiting until the last minute. UGH! Anyway...just wanted to say I'm still alive and doing well!
  • Val- in your settings you probably need to change your time zone and then it will switch at the appropriate time. That's what I had to do :)

I don't think the system six has an appetite suppressant. There were others in the line that did, but we avoided them. It's just a metabolism booster & mood stabilizer. I recognize all the ingredients on the nutritional label, too, and I don't see anything I wouldn't eat by itself.

I might head up to SLC today to hubby's work to get a shower. His little sister and her kids are coming to visit on Monday. I don't want Grace & I to be stinky.
