I think what bothers me the most about it is the physical description. It basically sounds like pus. So...some guy catches a beaver, notices a pus-like substance coming from it's *kitten*, and this ends up in Strawberry Fanta how?

    exactly.

I could never be vegetarian. Too much thought. I just go with "taste good = eat," even if it is bever *kitten*.

What's sad is this thread here in chit-chat was meant to be a joke....but apparently some outspoken self-titled vegetarians have yet to learn to give up the meat before they preach to the masses.

    SMH.

Why do some "vegetarians" eat fish?

They would be "pescatarians", would they not?

and here I was trying to keep us from fighting! LOL.

Ok. So here's how I see it, and we all know that I am right and anyone who disagrees is wrong ;)

Vegetarian= slang for lacto-ovo vegetarian, eats eggs and milk, no meat
Vegan= same as strict vegetrian, no eggs, milk, silk, etc

Piscatarian= eats fish, no red meat, no chicken

and if you eat chicken, please don't call yourself a vegetarian :)

    agree!

I only (intentionally) eat about 0.00009% more of the animal species on this planet than a strict vegetarian - I reckon that makes me close enough to call myself 'vegetarian'!

    ??? What do you eat?

    Also 0.0000009 x 0 still = zero.

ETA: exceptions can be made for beaver *kitten*.

    Chicken,
    Beef
    Mutton
    Pork
    Turkey
    Duck
    Vension

Don't eat ANYTHING like that from the sea; after all, think of the seat kittens!
    http://features.peta.org/PETASeaKittens/

(Actually, think I should have had one 0 less, which would still be statistically SO DAMN CLOSE to the figures strict vegetarians use for this measure.)

Also, how do vegetarians feel about leather? Shoes, belts, purses, etc?

    ETA: And jello?

I'm a vegan, I don't consume any animal or byproduct of an animal, this includes leather, suede, gelatin, honey etc.

If any veggies/vegans need to know about which brands of booze are vegan/veggie friendly, check out www.barnivore.com

I'm a vegetarian but I don't wear animals, I use only vegan shampoo & conditioner, and I don't eat jello or anything with gelatin in it because that's freaking nasty.

i'M Dating a vegetarian who is an aspiring vegan - just cant do without chocolate and cheese but i know she looks at the cheese ingredients, something to do with renit or something to that affect.

Man, its good to see these messages so i know the lady has not completely lost it hahahahah .... she also uses a specific toothpaste (something to do with ground up bones) and yeah, same issue with going out and the stock ... surprisingly half the people at restaurants etc. dont really understand whats the problem with using a non veg stock in a veg dish. Once had someone tell me: "what, your girlfriend is vegetarian and doesnt eat eggs ... eggs are not meat, its liquid" he says hahahahahhaha

Oh people think she is a freak (I'm sure they think most vegans are) im telling you but alas i find comfort by all these messages

Isn't the beaver *kitten* vegetarian because it is excreted by the animal, just like milk?

Also, I do see why pescatarians call themselves vegetarian. Because most places have very few fish option, so it's easier to just ask for the vegetarian option than to have the "I'm a pescatarian" "A pescawhat???" conversation every single time.

True story: I eat pescatarian when I go out and there are no kosher restaurants. At the university dining hall, there was a fish option that was labeled as "containing seafood." I though that meant that it contained shellfish, which is forbidden, but just to make sure, I asked the staff, "Is the fish vegetarian?"

Oh, man. Don't even joke about that. I have eaten vegetarian at a Brazilian steakhouse. It was awful. But full of delicious cheese puffs.

Pao de queso is quite tasty, but passing up picanha and filet mignon and churrasco for bread and cheese? Sucks to be you! =)

No. They have to kill the beaver to get the sac.

Next you'll ask if vegetarians drive cars that run on oil, since oil is made out of dinosaurs and therefore an animal product :/

    ...or were you serious?

I'm one of those crazy (actually really common) vegetarians that isn't offended by meat. I grill a mean steak (so I've been told). But it doesn't suck to be me because I don't feel I'm denying myself anything by not eating meat. It's just...like...not even food to my mind. So I don't feel like I'm on some fast or that I can't stop thinking about that steak or whatever.

    You go enjoy your meat.

And I'll enjoy my whatever I'm eating today...
