    Getting up at 3:30 am to beat the traffic...other than that, I love my job :)

    Lord how far is your commute?

    My commute is only 27 miles but if I worked the normal 9-5, it would probably take me 2 hours to get to work...I start work at 6:00 am...usually get here around 5:45 :)


    You sound like you live in Northern Virginia. When I lived 12 miles outside of DC it would take me 1.5 hours on average to get to work. Most of my coworkers get up at 3:30 like you do. I moved into the city and walk to work now, and life is so much better. :)

    I live in Southern Maryland and work in DC...it took me 1 1/2 hours to get home yesterday...ugggghhhh...I couldn't live in the city though...I love being on 3 acres with trees :)

    I'm a host at a restaurant. I like it for the most part. I do hate that we're open til midnight and sometimes I'm stuck there forever because people keep slowly trickling in. I generally get to go home when we're down to five tables or so, which is usually around 9 or 10 but I've stayed past midnight because there will be like 10 tables, one finally leaves and another comes in, so it's slow and boring but I can't go home yet.

    I also train horses and I guess the hardest part is dealing with unrealistic expectations. Like "omg, you HAVE to make me and my POS that's been sitting in pasture until last week win at the big show next month!" and then when you can't do it they go to the trainer that beats or drugs the horses to make it happen :(

    The death - but especially the death where a sheep has taken itself off into some bushes or whatever to die, specifically so I wont notice it for days and when I do its stinking corpse fouls up my landrover for days when I cart it off to the hunt kennels.
    My parents used to raise sheep and my dad likes to call what sheep get "Wants to Die Disease". Nothing's really wrong with them but they've gotten it into their head it's time to go and there's nothing you can do about it. Sheep are pessimistic creatures :noway:

    the worst part of about my job is having to deal day in and out with people that "want" to work, but when you call them to go to work, they have every reason why they can't.

    Same here, it's incredibly frustrating! The worst is when they (they being specified on-call employees) give you their general availability, and not only do you call during those times, but neither do they answer, or even call you back! Even if it's just to decline.

    It makes no sense: They were hired *specifically* to be on-call, they give availability (which isn't black and white, obviously there are going to be some times where they have to decline for whatever reason), and they won't even answer their phone or call back during those times!

    At my previous job I have been spit on, puked on, bled on, pissed on, been punched, had poop thrown at me, cussed at routinely, and even had a guy jerk off in front of me for 6 straight hours (never did figure out if he just had amazing staying power or if he had help from Viagra). God I miss that job. :bigsmile:

    cleaning up after grown *kitten* people! I am an office manager and apparently its an unspoken part of my job description to put everyone else's dishes in the DISHWASHER. Also, sitting for 8 hours a day. Its so frustrating because I have the most energy between 10 and 3 and thats when I want to work out and be productive but I'm stuck at work. Also, dealing with stupid people on the phone. But other than that I really really love my job :)

    I hate our small lunch room, especially when people eat and then lounge at the table, forcing some of us to eat at our desks. Nothing ruins my day more than eating at my desk!

    If I were you, I would be fuming daily!!! I think it is totally unacceptable for adults to use dishes or cups at work and not wash them..... Like why would someone else wash your dishes at work, who the hell do these people think they are?? And who do they think you are the maid!!! I believe people should treat the kitchen at work like their kitchen at home and clean up after themselves!!!

    Supervising employees. Pretty much, by and large, it seems that people are really lazy and don't want to do their jobs...show up late...call in all the time...cry and whine about petty bull ****, etc. I have a lot to do, but I swear I spend about 90% of my time dealing with crappy employees.

    Otherwise, it's pretty nice. I pretty much have to be online all day long, so I always keep an MFP window open
