Lent!!! What did you all give up?

I gave up all fast food and candy.
I hope by the end of these 40 days i can see a difference in just not eating those certain things.
What is everyone else giving up???

I am going to continue to work my butt off, but let's see all that we can improve on just by giving up stuff!!

Feel free to add me if you need motivation or just a friend!!!

I gave up fast food but I may have to break that bc I recently saw in my local newspaper that taco bell will be coming out with a cool ranch dorito taco. *drool*

Not really religious, but since most of my friends participate in Lent, I usually give up something along with them.

This year, I gave up negativity. And I've got a journal to write my negative thoughts down in. Then under each negative thought, I turn it around to a positive thought.

    That's a really good idea!

    I'm giving up over indulgence.

2 glasses of wine, not a whole bottle.
Stay close to my calorie goals.
No second servings (pack it up for lunch).
Going out to eat once every 2 weeks.

Haha, I mostly gave it up to save money. I'm not too religious, just wanted to see if I could do it.
  • I gave up the snack drawer at the office. It's literally 2 feet from my desk. So far so good. Thank god I don't work weekends. :)

Alcohol and dessert, although the dessert one fell by the wayside on Valentine's Day!

But what would you do with the rest of the wine? It would be sad if it was left behind

I gave up Sweets . . . . I am hoping that after 40 days it will be more of a lifestyle change and I won't need them anymore.

I'm not religious, but I decided to give up BUTTER, which is a big deal for me, because until a week ago, I ate a lot of it.

I realized that 12 pounds of butter a month was probably too much: on croissants, to sautee everything in, on crackers...

    Butter.

I took UP meditation and have given up falling asleep to my TV (have done this for 15 years). I have done 3 nights now off meditating then falling asleep in total darkness with no noise. It's kinda liberating! :-)
  • Drinking my husband's bourbon and eating my daughter's snacks. I don't need either in my body and hopefully they will be more accountable when they can't blame me for dipping in.

Haha oh, excuse me! I meant just 2 glasses of wine in a sitting.
I would NEVER waste even the cheapest bottle of that sweet nectar. Don't worry.

Ooo all baked sweets this year! I have a major sweet tooth so I'm hoping this helps...no cookies, brownies, cakes, pies, pastries etc.
  • I gave up chocolate, which is HUGE for me because I normally have to have it some form every single day! That being said, I have given it up before, and I stick with it, but it is tremendously difficult for me, because for me, chocolate is a food group!!!
